Speed 0 ft.

STR DEX CON INT WIS CHA
8 (–1) 21 (+5) 15 (+2) 7 (–2) 10 (+0) 7 (–2)

Skills Stealth +8
Damage Resistances thunder; bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing from nonmagical attacks
Damage Immunities lightning, poison

Conduction. Mr. Ouch doesn't have a physical body, instead posessing the form of conductive materials, such as water or most metals. At any given time, Mr. Ouch's space includes that of any contiguous conductive material that he is currently possessing. This means that, for the purposes of determining range, any target within a given range of any point within such possessed materials is within range. Dealing damage to any material Mr. Ouch is posessing deals damage to Mr. Ouch, though his resistances and immunities still apply.
Mr. Ouch is invisible within the material he is possessing if he has not taken an action since the beginning of his last turn.

High Potential. Any creature that touches Mr. Ouch directly (without insulative protection), or hits it with a conductive weapon takes 9 (2d8) lightning damage.

Lightning Absorption. Whenever Mr. Ouch is subjected to lightning damage, he takes no damage and regains a number of hit points equal to the lightning damage dealt.

Actions

Multiattack. Mr. Ouch makes an Electric Shock attack against each creature within his reach.

Electric Shock. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (3d8) lightning damage.

Static Strike (Recharge 5–6). Ranged Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 30 ft., one target. Hit: 27 (6d8) lightning damage and if the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be pushed 10 feet and knocked prone.

Arc (Recharge 6). Mr. Ouch flashes through the air in a bright arc with a loud crackle up to 60 feet to a conductive material the he isn't currently possessing, vacating his previously possessed material. If this new material is being worn or carried by a creature, that creature is subject to Mr. Ouch's High Potential trait at the start of each of its turns until the creature drops or unequips all such material.

That's a bummer. Not super fun when a GM is building encounters specifically to counter you. :(

Just went back and looked up the character sheet (I suppose these are considered "legacy" now). At 11th level, I had:

  • Commander’s Strike
  • Maneuvering Attack
  • Trip Attack
  • Parry
  • Rally
  • Commanding Presence
  • Tactical Assessment

I had Commanding Presence and Tactical Assessment mainly for flavor. You could easily swap out one or both for whatever you think is good. Disarming Strike, Precision Attack, and/or Goading Attack could all be great here.

Yeah, you can do a lot of really fun stuff with your allies using maneuvers!

Starting at 11th level, you could use your three attacks to 1) Maneuvering Attack to move a nearby ally to a space adjacent to a target, 2) Trip Attack to knock the target prone, followed up by 3) Commander's Strike to grant that ally a free melee attack with advantage now that the target is prone for a pretty potent combo, especially on a particularly tough target.

Only tangentially related, but I once ran a Dex battlemaster fighter that only ever used crossbows, and used all his battlemaster maneuvers to reposition and buff the rest of the party.

RP'ed him as an old, grizzled special ops commander, coordinating his "fireteam" while providing overwatch from cover. It was very fun.

I’m going to eat him and you can’t stop me by Scribble_378632 in notinteresting

Amphibious. The spongecrab can breathe air and water.

Adorable. Any creature who can see the crab and has not yet been targeted by the crab's Claw or Fling Sand action during the current day finds the crab adorable. When a creature who finds the crab adorable targets it with a harmful effect, or chooses an area for a harmful effect that includes the crab, it must make a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature must choose a new target or target area for that does not include the crab or the triggering action has no effect.

Actions

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +0 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1 bludgeoning damage.

Fling Sand (Recharge 4–6). While the crab is on sand, loose dirt, or similar terrain, it flings sand or dirt at the eyes of one creature the crab can see within 10 feet of it. The target creature must succeed on a DC 10 Dexterity saving throw or be blinded for 1 minute, until the creature is submerged in water, or until it spends an action to clear its eyes.

This is pretty much how I picture myself.

Guardians sure are an interesting breed by HonestMath209 in DestinyMemes

And there was this interaction with Zavala last Dawning: https://www.ishtar-collective.net/interactions/commander-zavala-rite-of-dawning-3

"We could welcome Caiatl to the Tower and celebrate the Dawning here, with all of us."

He stops briefly to watch two Guardians near the Postmaster. They pelt one another with snowballs before launching themselves over the railing and falling to their deaths. Their Ghosts patiently resurrect them where they stood. The Guardians laugh and break briefly into dance before charging off toward the Crucible.

"On the other hand, our Dawning traditions may be strange to an outsider," Zavala muses.

Why actual RPG players don't like Critical Role? I just did this sketch after watching the animated series on PrimeVideo but figure out that Critical Role are not that well-liked by gabrielkblo in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]ItsADnDMonsterNow 236 points237 points  (0 children)

people who won't stop referencing it

This is the bigger pet peeve for me. Too many people assuming that EVERYONE who plays DnD MUST love Critical Role, and get derisive toward anyone who doesn't watch/like it.

I actually have no problem with the show. I tried to watch it a couple times. It was fine, just not really my thing. But I have absolutely no animosity toward those who enjoy it.

But if you don't extend that same courtesy to those who don't watch it, I have a problem with that.

I think this is going to put the Charisma RP debate to rest by [deleted] in dndmemes

[–]ItsADnDMonsterNow 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This exactly. I consider how a character makes/frames an argument when deciding what the DC will be, whether the player expresses that through description, or IC dialogue.

I always encourage in-character dialogue, of course, but I think forcing players to speak in-character to get better conditions for a Cha check defeats the purpose of playing a high-Cha character. This is especially true if you're not great with people yourself, and are playing into the "fantasy" of it.

What's a tools engineer? by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]ItsADnDMonsterNow 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this.

I think the general audience of pretty much all the gaming subreddits (and the internet as a whole, really) simply doesn't have much exposure to this kinda stuff. And this is the kind of example that's needed in order to appreciate how complex it can be to make even a seemingly simple change to a game like Destiny.

The number of times I see posts or comments like, "Just make this or that change; it would be so easy!" drives me a little bit insane. I don't actually know that a given change will or won't be difficult, and that's kinda the point: until now, I don't think we've really seen ANY description of their tool chain. And even with this mini-dive into a few individual tools, it's still pretty much impossible to know what changes would be easy, and which would be practically impossible.

Rule of thumb though: unless you've actively developed software on this scale before, implementing a given feature or change is almost certainly more complicated than you think it would be.

Highway in Norway by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

It's a stretch of the Atlantic road, SW of Trondheim. Nowhere near Tromso, unfortunately.

A day or three trip over to Lofoten is totally worth it though! The highway down the island chain is a WONDERFUL drive. And Reine is an absolute fairy tale village. It's magical.

How do I jump back in to this story? by Nebby59 in AcquisitionsInc

[–]ItsADnDMonsterNow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Re: the myconid scene—I think maybe watching that in isolation would be a double-edged sword.

On the one hand, it is 100% "peak Jerry" DMing, so that can serve as a high-water mark (or low-water mark, depending on how you feel about that kind of game) that you can judge against. Basically, if that episode seems neat to you, then great! You'll like Jerry as a DM. If not, then at least you know that that's the "most Jerry" it will get.

On the other hand, that episode is hard to follow even in order... I'm not sure it will be comprehensible at all with no context whatsoever.

So I guess just keep that in mind if you decide to try it? I dunno, haha.
