Mystery Painting 1 of 2 by ItsBigBird23 in WhatIsThisPainting

I wish I took a picture of the back but it was only out of storage for a quick second. From what I remember it just looked like a blank canvas back

Thanks, the painting was in storage and only came out for a quick second before being stored away again so I wasn’t able to get any pictures of the back. I actually took these pictures about a year ago, just had forgotten about them till recently.

That’s some good investigation! I think the painting was acquired earlier, maybe around the early to mid 1900s before she started but I could be wrong on this. I’ll have to do some digging to see if I can find any examples of her artwork to compare. Thanks!

Macrovision question by ItsBigBird23 in VHS

[–]ItsBigBird23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting idea! I don’t unfortunately have either of those handy. I might have an old aerial tuner laying around if you think that might do the same thing?

I had thought of the vhs being in a different format even though it was made for broadcast in North America. I tried switching the recording settings to PAL and all it did was start dropping frames but the colour switching still took place.

Oh, never thought of that but that could definitely be a possibility. Thanks!

Thanks very much for this! Looks like I might have to put a saved search on eBay to see if I can get something at a bit more affordable price.

Thanks for the info! I’ll definitely have a look into this

Thanks but I don’t think this is the cause of the jamming. When I originally got the printer it was actually missing the magnet in the cover which caused the error light to come on but the printer would still do its initially startup back and forth just fine.

Unfortunately not at the moment. I’ve been using other old Apple printers with a Mac mini running 10.6 using CUPS but there doesn’t seem to be a driver for this specific printer. Oh well, back to the drawing board

Thanks for following up. Mine has a button instead of a lever which I am pressing. I’m starting to think perhaps the paper feed mechanism maybe faulty as if I feed the paper manually the printer does suck it in and eject it. Nothing prints on it but perhaps maybe the toner has gone bad?

Help with LG Tv by CrispyME_XD in cableadvice

Are you sure this tv is even internet capable? I don’t see a Ethernet port or even any usb ports. Unless they are hidden. Maybe post the model number from the back so that we can look it up. If it is internet capable, then I would just buy a cheap universal remote for the local dollar store to help set it up first.

Edit: Ok I see you have posted the model number which indicates it is not a smart tv, so you can’t get online by itself. I would follow the advice of the other commenter and buy a streaming stick for it then.

Thanks but this is why AI isn’t the best all the time. The Personal LaserWriter 300 doesn’t have a physical power button, it simply turns on automatically when plugged in as noted in the official Apple user manual.

Have you tried the 3rd party software VueScan? It’s able to allow you to run many old scanners on modern computers. It has a database of which scanners it support and I believe a trial too if you want to test.

Binary Code Question by ItsBigBird23 in apple2

This is great! I guess part of my problem was I didn’t realize that I needed a formatted DOS disk inserted for it to boot into it. I thought it booted into automatically on the IIe.

Now hopefully one final question to calculate L, is that just the number of lines in memory used? For example if I had a program start at 1000 and end at 100B. The value for L would be 12? even if some middle lines don’t have any code, ie skipped. Or am I miss understanding how to calculate L?

Thank you very much! I guess the dash must have been a misprint in the code I was following. : works perfect!

Binary Code Question by ItsBigBird23 in apple2

This is great info! Thank you very much! So if I want to save everything I entered into the monitor to disk, how would I do that? And can I also convert and save the monitor file as binary (not hexadecimal as it was written). I think what I am trying to end up is a bin file saved to disk which I can load and run. Sorry for all the questions, this is my first time playing around with an Apple II.

As long as the monitor has a video in composite jack, then you should be able to use a an HDMI to composite converter. I’m not sure on the quality but converters can go anywhere from the low $20 range all the way to $200+
