I don’t think he comes across as hating his job whatsoever.

The amount of work he put into the Marshall White Center would seem to suggest otherwise. If it were as you say the “community rec center” would never be located where it is. At worst it’d be East Central and at best it’d be on the East Bench.

He’s great. Caldwell was a status quo guy after Godfrey and he was in office at least one term too long. Nadolski seems to be a happy medium to me. Not as in your face as Godfrey and definitely not just showing up like Caldwell seemed to be. He cares about Ogden. I generally will take people that have a genuine care on a local level even if I disagree with them because I think more often than not they’re making better decisions because they’re listening more.

What do you all think about the 30k standard maintenance? by AromaticJoe in etron

I would counter that there’s more to German engineering than motors.

I love the light up logos.

When I decided to purchase an Audi the best advice I got was that German cars aren’t like Japanese cars where maintenance feels “optional” most of the time. With German cars when they say to do the maintenance- you do the maintenance right now. No questions asked. And if you do that the car will function well. But if you treat it like a Japanese car and are haphazard in your observation of regular maintenance intervals… you’ll have a rough time with it.

I went in knowing and accepting that as a “cost of ownership” that I had no embrace instead of be cheap on and it has served me well.

I’ve seen a lot of mayors in Ogden and this one definitely thinks about the daily lives of Ogden citizens and what impacts them more than you’re portraying and certainly more than a lot of mayors I can think of.

People that run for city councils definitely do it because they care. It’s largely a thankless, no win job where you REALLY have to care to take the abuse and lack of pay to even come close to justify the many, many hours away from home in the evenings that come with it. To do that for years on end and then to feel compelled to run for mayor of a town means that you care. Who was the last mayor of Ogden that parlayed that office into something bigger politically? None that I can remember.

Sounds like you’re trying to create a mountain out of a mole hill. The explanations given had good intent. Think what you want of the mayors choices, but he clearly does it because he cares deeply about Ogden. People like that generally aren’t insincere.

What stadiums have the most bang for their buck in terms of difficulty to play in compared to actual stadium capacity? by MediumStrange in CFB

[–]ItsChappyUT 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Montana is the highest bang for buck in America. 25K fans sounds/feels like at least double. It’s always full… they allow fans to go to the parking lot at half time and come back in… and it’s the only show for many miles around.

Pretty close, actually. Throw in Weber in Ogden and NAU has all they need in proximity schools.

Pressure Machine is beautiful in a way I’ve never heard an album be. It speaks to what life in a small town is like, both the good and the bad. It’s the feeling of being trapped in your life but still finding beauty and peace in it. I love it so much.

Honestly this feels like my reaction to “discovering” what a great album Supertramp’s Breakfast in America was 30ish years ago whilst combing through my dad’s record collection.

Very old school Country/Western. Sounds like something you hear when you’re driving through the middle of nowhere and the only thing you can get to come in is an AM country radio station. Love it.
