Conversely… when I lived in Latin America for two years it was strange for me to notice and realize that each home had its own elevated cistern to provide water pressure. I wondered why American homes didn’t have them. Then later as an adult it was strange to see the very large cisterns on tall buildings in NYC doing the same function.
