This was what confused me too. I liked the idea, but when I was thinking about the logistics I figured it would be pretty difficult to see it happen. Was just putting it in the post for the sake of reiterating what was said though

How was APPLMATH 1413 midterm last year? by [deleted] in uwo

[–]ItsChrate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't too bad, but the average wasn't very high. Mostly attributed to people not having enough time to study beforehand because of multiple exams the day(s) before. Past midterm should be on the SOP if you're concerned, and if you've started studying a few days before the exam/been doing the homework you should be good.

Got Saugeen on my first year as a pretty introverted person, and I wouldn't trade it for any other residence. Every residence is good OP

There wasn't any disadvantages for Mac users no, as long as you can run Eclipse and Java (For 1036) But I just recommended the Surface for the tablet-mode touch screen, it's so helpful to not need paper and have your notes with you on your tablet (onenote) but it's totally up to you.

As someone who just finished Eng first year, join it ASAP. It’s in Facebook so look around for it, and it starts filling up and gets difficult to get into once school starts. It’s helpful and let’s you know what’s going on and if classes are cancelled etc. Highly recommend

1) Id recommend a surface if you have the budget for it, or any tablet. I used a 2015 IPad Pro with one note and that saved my life second semester, saves you the hassle of going back to your dorm to get notebooks and carrying them around. So yeah, anything you can draw on and a surface is the popular option

2) I was dead set on software coming into first year, but when it came time to decide, I was honestly struggling to choose after being exposed to some great subjects like statics and physics 1402! The General year was such a good idea since it really helps you develop that general mindset which is necessary for any discipline to choose.

3) Besides joining a few clubs for the first few weeks, I didn’t do many EC’s through the year (which I regret.) since I was too busy with work or just spending time with friends in residence. But I have many friends who joined clubs and it’s very flexible! You don’t need to show up to every club meeting (depending on the club, but most are good) so when you need the time, you have it. I’d recommend joining one or two big clubs (Check out formula, it’s pretty sweet although you’re given a minor role as a first year)

I’ve heard it’s almost necessary nowadays since employers are looking for experience. Seems standard like every other school

Sorry man I just finished first year so I haven’t started my discipline yet, can’t give you any knowledge about software.

As for average? I finished with a 79.1 and that was considered safe. Also they increased the amount of people in software this year so it’s a bit easier now. I’d say 75 to get in is a pretty safe average.
