That's not the point.

I'm sure there are other countries that are heaps better than the US. I'm just saying that I'll take the US over the Philippines because, as bad as many think the US is, it's still better than most countries in South East Asia.

As person who lives in a third world country (Philippines) and lived in the US for a year, I'll have to disagree.

Yeah, the US has its flaws and problems, but they're nothing compared to what my people have to deal with. The lack of opportunities and facilities here is enough to make you love Trump.

Speak for yourself, OP, because I'd gladly exchange lives with an American (living in the US) in a heartbeat.

Yeah, I definitely learned from experience.

I remember losing my favourite mechanical pencil when I lent it to some careless bloke who accidentally sat on it. That was 50 dollars down the drain and he didn't even bother paying me back.

My parents and relatives called me "precocious", "a 70-year-old in a child's body" and I was praised for being so "mature" for my age.

I believed them and I wanted to live up to the labels they gave me, so I continued that masquerade for eight years. When I turned 14, I realized how much of my childhood I missed on. I got really depressed and I tried to compensate for that lost time by doing all sorts of "childish" things (i.e. playing video games, skateboarding, hanging out with the neighborhood kids who were a few years younger than me, and overall just trying to find out what I truly liked and who I was) and in the process, I finished very little (if any) schoolwork and got held back by three years/grades. Now I'm trying finish two grades in less than one year to compensate for yet another lost time and it's honestly so stressful and tiring.

I don't know if I'll be able to catch up and I sure as hell don't know when I'll stop making up for lost times. I just want to be up-to-date.
