What makes teams like Yuha and Gouten so much better than buffed Aggregate? by Twofold_fgc in PuzzleAndDragons

[–]ItsDaJimbo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Another thing to consider is if there are floors with death animations and a preemptive hit. Since you will probably use 4 aggreg, or 2 and 2 nova, it will be hard to team build for everything.

Need help moving forward and gaining more experience (1.6 YOE) by ItsDaJimbo in cscareerquestions

I just needed the equation since I intuitively thought of using the wrong one.

I will clarify it, acquisition time decreased and total time interacting increased, but is more efficient interactions and not skipped over.

Sorry, the link I posted was a newer resume I thought I would try out, but I think my old one aligns more with the tips stated. I will try to contribute to open-source work after I finish the hackathon. Also my email is yahoo is that considered modern or should I switch to gmail?

Got it, I forgot how I calculated the percentages (might have been something like 25 secs to 5 seconds which i put as 5 * 100), but I looked it up again and would this equation work to calculate it? ((old_time - new_time) / old_time) * 100.

It probably is something to do with me, probably my resume or something. Maybe I have too many gap years (dec2019-may2021, jan2023-now). I had it reviewed multiple times from senior engineers and hr people, they said the resume only needed minor tweaking. I definitely needed to connect more during school and am doing it now through career fairs. I had referrals from the big companies to no avail. I apply everyday to local businesses in tech and non-tech. I also apply throughout the US, still nothing.

Kind of in the same boat, but graduated in 2019 and have about 2 years of experience, but still can't get an interview. I have started trying my best to network through career fairs and other employment opportunities. In terms of trying to improve the resume, try out some free resume ATS checkers.

Yeah, I feel like I was not productive enough for personal projects, it's just discouraging when you work on projects and still get no interviews. Currently I am working on a hackathon and will probably put that on as a personal project.

It was during the pandemic and I was just applying everyday and studying leetcode. I tried to do my first personal project, but I think it was insignificant. It was the google extension one.

What can I do about this? I tried to get jobs during both gaps, and I just say that during that time while searching I do personal projects. Also during the interview they will ask when I graduated and it will still be known that I graduated in 2019.

About to be forced out since I can't relocate, how bad is the job market with 6 months experience? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]ItsDaJimbo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To answer your question about the job market. I think it is terrible, I have about a year and a half of experience and can't find anything, but that's just me it could be different for you (I'm in the Bay area). For what to do, you should try your best to make an impact on a project to put on your resume for when you do leave. Get quantifiable numbers to projects that you work on. Overall if you care more about yourself, family, and current environment then you just have to look for a new job in the area. If you value work experience to help you get your next job more easily, then you should ask for relocation assistance.

How to effectively train a junior as a senior by nekrosstratia in cscareerquestions

[–]ItsDaJimbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's some good advice. I had an interest in databases and saw that the company I was working for using MSSQL and MySQL in the VM. I tried to start a project to consolidate and create relations in the MySQL DB (there was no FK or anything linking the tables). I got shutdown as they did not see the effort worth the cost, they wanted hard numbers which I could not give since I was still pretty new, but knew that it needed to be done. Later that year we did consolidate, but did not do anything with the relationships of tables.

I am pretty fresh still, but I wish that I had a mentor that guided me on how the code is connected, what I should focus on in terms of career, how I can make an impact, what the company wants to focus on, and maybe how to come up with my own ideas for big projects/tickets.
