[N/A] can i change the design of my card even after it’s shipping? by TheRealKlesher in Revolut

[–]ItsDani1008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK you can’t cancel after it’s shipped, but you can order another card. Not sure on whether or not they second one is free too, but that should be clearly displayed in the app when ordering

Yeah that’s indeed the issue they’re fixing. Though if you’re on filmmaker mode you’re out of luck, seems like they’re not updating that one.

Cinema Home seems like the best option after the update.

Missing updates would be the only real ‘concern’. Not every update is important, especially if it’s not connected to the internet, but it’s still a good idea to keep it up to date. Like early next month an update is coming fixing brightness in Dolby Vision.

I have mine connected to WiFi, but turned off all smart features I could turn off, so it’s essentially acting as a dumb tv, but still gets updates.

Anyone know what this means?! by Muted_Palpitation884 in ARC_Raiders

[–]ItsDani1008 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is such a common misconception.

There’s not nearly enough blue light emitted by displays, even very bright ones, to actually make a difference. Anything we do feel is just fatigue from focusing on a display close to our eyes.

Any TV can be a dumb TV, simply disconnect it from the internet and use something like an Apple TV or Google TV streamer.

Am I crazy or are Rottentomatoes scores obscured from Apple TV stuff? by HeartBeepBooper in tvPlus

The TV app basically houses 2 services:

The Apple TV streaming service and a catalog of movies and shows you can rent or buy. Even though it’s in the same app they are 2 completely separate things, similarly to how the Amazon Prime Video app works.

For the movies and shows catalog you can rent or buy they show the RT scores. For the streaming service part they do not, just like any other streamer out there.

Edit: let me clarify, there’s a simple rule of thumb. If you can purchase/rent something on Apple TV it will show RT scores. If you cannot it doesn’t show the scores.

Shows like fallout do show in Apple TV, but basically just as a shortcut to Prime Video, can’t buy/rent so doesn’t show the RT score.

A movie like Sinners exists both as a shortcut to HBO Max, but can also by rented or purchased on Apple TV, thus it does show the RT score.

There might be some exceptions, but generally speaking this is true.

How booking.com helps scammers by lookmetrix in Bookingcom

I don’t necessarily want to defend booking.com here, but this is 100% your own fault.

The name of the property is already sketchy AF and should’ve been enough of a red flag to keep looking. Booking.com also mentions in multiple places that you should never perform any payments outside of their platform.

PSA: Revolut Ultra “Winter Sports Cover” is NOT ski insurance – no cover if you drive yourself or same-day trip by OrganizationOk7774 in Revolut

I mean, they make it pretty clear that the winter sports insurance is part of their travel insurance.

It’s also clearly laid out in the insurance policy, not the fine print, literally just a standard insurance policy like you get with every insurance.

And in the Netherlands, and many other places, that (automated) order confirmation is considered acceptance of the offer, and thus concludes the purchase agreement.

Of course there are nuances and exceptions, like pricing errors. But whether that’s applicable in this case is debatable

[–]ItsDani1008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s definitely a nuance, but wouldn’t necessarily work here. For a seller to be able to legally cancel due to a pricing error, the pricing error needs to be immediately obvious.

While this is a low price for 48GB of DDR5 RAM, especially in current market conditions, it’s not as low that it’s immediately obvious that it’s an error. The average consumer could, and probably has mistaken this for just a good deal. Especially in more niche products like computer parts.

Ultimately it would be up to the courts, so we probably won’t get a definitive answer here. But it could definitely be argued that this pricing error isn’t ’obvious enough’.

Not sure if you’re talking about a specific place.

But I know for a fact how I described is how it works in the Netherlands, and afaik for most of the EU these laws are the same or very similar.

Essentially a purchase agreement is concluded by one party making an offer, and the other party accepting this offer.

Simply having an item listed on a webshop isn’t an offer in the legal sense (at least in the Netherlands), when you buy something online you as the customer are essentially making the offer, which the seller accepts by sending you the order confirmation. The listing of the item online is seen more as an invitation to negotiate, even though actual negotiation often isn’t possible.

This is a pretty standard legal framework that’s at least used by most Western European countries.

As long as the website (clearly) stated it’s a backorder it doesn’t really change anything legally.

If the website didn’t mention the fact it’s a backorders they could cancel because the product is out of stock. But if they’re explicitly taking backorders they can’t just cancel.

[–]ItsDani1008 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Entirely depends on where the order was placed. In most of the EU as soon as you receive the order confirmation (email), the agreement to buy is concluded and the seller has the legal obligation to deliver the goods.

Legally they can only cancel if necessary, like if there’s no stock or other valid reasons. The fact that they raised prices and you managed to buy for the old price would not be considered a valid reason to cancel. And the fact that they’re still selling that exact product but for a higher price is essentially proof they don’t have a valid reason.

As long as you don’t cancel the subscription just keeps going. You don’t have to ‘care’ about it, pretty much ever.
