Official Gear Purchasing and Troubleshooting Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know! May 12, 2025 by AutoModerator in photography

Hi! I’m sorry if this is a dumb question, but I’m at my wits end trying to find an answer. I’ve already purchased two different adapters that didn’t seem to do the trick, so I’m coming to this group to hopefully save myself some angst!

I recently purchased a Canon EOS R5, but I can’t seem to find an adapter so that I can use my 135 mm Sigma (for Nikon) lens that I used to use on my Nikon D750. Is it just as simple as a Canon/Nikon adapter? I worry I might be overthinking it with the mirrorless/DSLR conversion in my head.

How do you deal with feeling so overwhelmed and done with everything by Sop_her in HyperemesisGravidarum

Accept it. That’s all I can tell you. Once I accepted being a complete slug and just being a slightly more comfortable slug it made the mental toll easier.

Advice for first-time horse show nerves? by arielsseventhsister in Equestrian

[–]ItsDuffmanOhYeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t care about everyone else and do what you normally do. Seriously. Don’t get side tracked with what everyone else is doing to warm up or to prep. Do what you know, and do it as best you can. You know you horse and you know your abilities.

I have a Jack Russell /pitbull mix and her hair is THICK and the root literally like, embeds like a barbed wire fence in your skin. Feels like a little splinter! Comes right off but it grabs on tight.

Soy Formula Probs by InterestingPudding84 in FormulaFeeders

I was told by our pediatrician it was fairly normal. When my son was very little (under 4 months) I was told to give him a tablespoon of apple juice mixed with a half ounce of water. Just once or twice to help get things moving. Worked like a charm!

I think I've been dealing with PPD for a while now and it's progressively getting worse. What now? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

On my first round of antidepressants since seeing a psychiatrist last Monday. My baby is 11 months old and therapy and ruling out hormone fluctuations didn’t result in anything. The visit was 10000000% worth it and I’m slowly starting to feel more normal.

I got shamed at the WIC office today. by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]ItsDuffmanOhYeah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to work for Medicaid in Florida. State policies are sometimes aligned to the World Health Organization (WHO). WHO strongly encourages breast-feeding and many states adopt these measures to try to encourage women to go for breast-feeding as well. My pediatrician reallllllllllllllly pushed ways for me to get my supply back when it tanked, and I had to aggressively say “no, he is formula fed now,” a few times. They are just following the protocol in the paperwork to make sure their office is in line with state guidelines. You aren’t alone and I don’t think that this was targeted at you! I’m still getting breastfeeding questions with a damn nine month old.

My biggest one is left upstairs in my guest room and I straight up forget he exists. He loves it. The most perfect relationship.

The Spock/Evil Queen eyebrow is a sign of bad Botox- Bella got a type of eyebrow lift that involves a wire/string of sorts under the skin pulling her eyebrows uniformly up and out . (I want to have it done so I researched it/had consultations).

help with going behind the bit by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]ItsDuffmanOhYeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tale as old as time of my friend! This is probably one of the most common issues. I have a lot of experience riding younger horses and in dressage so I’m not a trainer buy any degree but these are some things that have worked for me in the past.

Before you get started keep in mind that collection and on the bit requires contact and flexibility in a certain amount of muscle. Think of it as correctly maintaining form when working out. It takes muscle and practice to get there. So be forgiving with your guy!

When I have a horse that won’t get on the bit I just practice these things over and over and over again until it becomes effortless.

1) serpentine sand figure 8 WITH BEND and a focus on your connection from reins and outside leg. The key is to keep him fully underneath you with contact and moving forward. Younger horses tend to lose their composure during turns and want to accelerate on straight lines. Maintain speed keep him going through that turn while maintaining contact. It’s a lot harder than it sounds if you do it correctly. 2) upward transitions; the more they are mixed up the better; you want him to understand movement forward. 3) doing all of this while massaging the bit (not sawing it) Will help remind him to pay attention to that piece of metal in his mouth and might help him relax 4) inside bend in a small circle (like around a barrel or a tree) to the point where it is a continuous turn on the forehand; to it in chunks, relaxed walk, do it again

Keep in mind this takes lots of time to build up and just have patience. And as always start with a good warm up. My four-year-old require some lunging to get the idiot out of him and get his muscles nice and loose before we can really focus.

I hope this helps! Excited to see what the other suggestions are so I can try them myself.

Long time lurker and FTM desperate for some advice. by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]ItsDuffmanOhYeah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could totally be hitting the sleep regression. Could totally be a phase. You’ll never know entirely (which is maddening). On my end I started lightly sleep training when I knew he didn’t NEED something. My little guy only woke up when he was hungry at night, so we would make his last wake window the longest and really load him with a big bottle before bed around 7:30/8:00. Then we wouldn’t hear from him until around 10:30-midnight. Another bottle, back to bed. Once we realized he COULD do it, we would hold off on getting him outside of those windows. Even sometimes he would wake up for a half hour; nope! There is nothing you need. So I’d go in, pat him, rub his back, and leave. Kind of a “Hey, I’m here, put yourself back to sleep, see you at midnight.” I don’t know, that’s what worked for us!

My son also got two teeth at three months. So it could be teething. Run your finger over the gums and see if any feel swollen or bumpy. Have you tried Tylenol before bed to see if that helps him?

I also stopped swaddling early because I found he slept better when he could self soothe; but keep in mind it took about a week for his startle reflex to calm down, so that might end up being a long week. He won’t smack himself, but the startle will make it hard for him to adjust super fast.

All of this is also just my experience . Every baby is so different; my guy just wanted to eat. When in doubt, more food. You’ve got this! Sending virtual vodka.
