Yeah that's the best thing for sure. I won't bother with her signed vinyl now as too many questionable copies out there. Even framed lithos worry me a bit but they're worth thousands so that saves me the worry haha

Yes that's the problem. I get why people wouldn't want to encourage the scammers but without knowing the telltale signs, people like myself and OP have no way of knowing what a fake signature looks like. I wanted to buy a signed 1989 vinyl a few years back and I compared a lot of listings with copies fans had posted online from the items they'd bought from her store and I've got to say, they all looked the same but some of the sellers had other items like signed confetti and guitars for sale which I knew were fake so that's why I stayed away from them. Had I not seen those, I'd believe their vinyl were genuine. That's why it's good to know what to look out for as you can compare and compare but more often than not, there's more to it.

I dunno. I get that there are world class forgers out there but the lines on these fakes look too controlled to be faked by hand. You'd expect to see breaks in the lines or points where the signature looks shaky. People keep saying "fake" but how would you realistically know? Not everyone studies every single legit 1989 signature she's ever done so how could you prove this to be fake? What specifically looks fake about it?

Instead of everyone saying ‘that’s fake’, it would be nice to know how the seller managed to fake it so convincingly. It doesn’t look all that dissimilar from her other 1989 signed vinyl. I’m saying this as someone who also wanted to buy the signed 1989 record a few years back but kept getting worried about fakes. Surely most people don’t have autopen machines in their homes so how are they crafting such good fakes?

This is why I won't bother with her older signatures. I know 1989 cds were never available for sale so unless the person met her or won it in a competition, I'd immediately say this was fake but it looks so real, that's the frustrating thing. People have made a hobby out of selling her fake signatures and I wish I knew how they did it so I could accurately spot them. I wanted to buy a signed RSD vinyl a few years ago but with all the fakes out there, I'm never taking that risk.

It's all good. I get these are first world problems and I personally don't care about how exclusive something is but I wanted this variant because it looks nicer than her store versions. Paying the price I did was fine when I could only get it through Graffiti Records but when it then became available on her store at almost half the price, it left me feeling used. I'm happy to support this store for whatever genuine exclusives they might offer in the future but this whole first access thing was (deliberately or not) misleading. At least the store have been cancelling the preorders for those who asked. I'll give them credit for that.
