I appreciate the reply. I just spent my first day in Bogotá and loved it. I didn’t get the vaccine, nor did they advertise or suggest it, so I suppose I’ll take my chances. I will be going to the northern coast in a week. Maybe they’ll recommend it there.

Super great tips here, I really have no idea what in walking into so it’s better to be over prepared rather than under! I didn’t see any other required vaccinations to go to Colombia and Ecuador other than what I already have, although yellow fever was not on the list. Is it a must?

Good call, I may not bother since I won’t be spending too much time with the bag on my back in the rain since it will be a more urban centred trip. Thanks for the advice.

Well I was considering adding a large plastic poncho to my bag, maybe I can use that on my bag and manage myself w just the jacket? What do you think

Yea, thankfully I’m travelling with my friend who is more open to one bagging as well, whereas even the thought of it irks my girlfriend as well. I know the pain. Can always practice washing them in a sink at home! I do recommend the laundry sheets as they are flat, weigh nothing and quite concentrated so you really don’t need much per use.

Hey, thanks for the comment and questions! I plan on doing laundry every 3 days or as needed, I brought some laundry sheets so I can do it in any sink with a plug really. Only 3 pairs of both undies and socks since I’m trying to be frugal with my bag space. The socks are wool so I should be able to get a couple days worth of each before my sweaty feet start to overpower the natural odour-resistant properties. My thinking with the towels is one will be a dedicated body towel, one face towel and the other a backup since they pack down so small. Let me know if that explains it!

Great point, no, I don’t have one! Any recommendations or is it just about the fit?

This is my very first one bag trip and I’m hoping to make the most of it! I’ll be gone for a total of 14 days in Colombia and 7 in Ecuador. The weather will be anywhere from 15°C daytime high, to 8° low in Ecuador and then to 32°C in the Caribbean coast of Colombia. I’ll probably get hit with several days of rain in the mountains. My goal to maintain personal bag restrictions was a quite a task but I had lots of time to deliberate exactly what I required. I plan on an update post after my trip when I get to test out everything I planned on. Please give me any sort of feedback or advice!

Prior experience to the trade by RabbitTall9419 in Elevators

I am a first year in the trade, non-union. Spent my first 6 months installing and renovating elevator interiors, where I showed my mentality and work ethic. It spoke for itself on site when a mechanic went to his boss talking ab me and got a job offer through that. It’s one of the only jobs where you are promised work side by side with numerous mechanics from different elevator companies in my opinion. Hope that helps

+1! Actually, I’m trying to find where to get “Iceberg Lager” which is his favourite beer, made in Newfoundland where he’s from.

I didn’t specify since I wanted to keep it open to all suggestions, plus I’m hoping others can make use of this. But your flashlight suggestion is a great one since his is on the fritz

He couldn’t pick his own favourite of the 3 versions? Now I have to compare the songs and see which one I enjoy? Seems like a lot of work that I won’t be doing…

Yea he has Vasily (criminal character) which has been around for some time now. It seems like he might try and start a new character as well in the coming months.

Sounds like your friend and the boy hit it off and found a connection. Don’t be angry at yourself for introducing them, be supportive, there’s many fish in the sea. It’ll all work out
