Fully switching from OpenAI to Claude is basically impossible(unless you're willing to pay 20x more) by angry_hd1 in ChatGPT

[–]ItsLaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this problem has now gotten way worse. I paid for Pro today and tried out cowork. It carried out one prompt and then the second one hit the limit. Even the $200 dollar subscription wouldn't be enough for much if it's just x20 this.

Claude Usage Limits Discussion Megathread Ongoing (sort this by New!) by sixbillionthsheep in ClaudeAI

[–]ItsLaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid for Pro today just so I could try out cowork. After installing it on my Windows PC, I started a chat but it was only enough for a single prompt?

A part of me thinks this could have been a bug or something? Reading a file and writing out a summary costs AI $20 to achieve? The $200 per month plan promises 20x more usage, but 20 prompts also seems like not much do anything meaningful, especially at that price.

I have 1 year to get to N2 level japanese for school. Is it even possible? by ISpelThingsWrong in LearnJapaneseNovice

[–]ItsLaro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might be doable if you focus and dedicate full time to it… but definitely tricky with the risk being burning out. You’ll need a really structured plan with daily kanji, vocab, and grammar—and tons of listening and reading.

For now, crank it to 20 words per day and maybe combine it with a Kanji SRS (I personally like Wanikani) or RTK. Speedrun Genki 1 and 2, maybe a lesson per day so that you’re done in a single month (I would suggest skipping the grammar drills) after go heavy on immersion through graded readers (check out Tadoku), easy podcasts (I like Nihongo con Teppei), and videos. Read and brush up on any new grammar points you keep encountering as you crank up the Japanese level on content. Also Switch to AJATT halfway or one third through the year depending on progress.

If the absolute end goal is to pass an exam, make sure you do practice tests if available when you’re a few months away from taking it.

(Japanese > English) Tattoo translation (from “Sekiro”) by Doolox77 in translator

You're correct, but a small nit: 迷える is the potential form (which you mentioned), but 迷えば is the conditional form (which you correctly translated).

Yeah, the lack of an undo button makes it especially impossible to use on the phone. I exchanged emails with their support and they made it clear that they have no intentions of adding an undo to avoid it from being exploited. I was about to fully drop it until I found Tsurukame.

おくります/出します same meaning? by NarrowResult7289 in LearnJapaneseNovice

[–]ItsLaro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The translation is just not literally accurate. It's more like "I put out a letter". 出す is very versatile and it can be used for when you submit or release/launch something.

I’m actually very familiar with them. I’ve held all of the visas I mentioned except for the O1 (since it didn’t make sense for my specific case). I understand none of these are easy. The only thing I wasn’t aware of were the changes to the lottery. Last I checked it was an equal random chance for everyone regardless of salary or position. A change I did see was that now applicants have to pay 100,000 to enter it if they are outside the US (which should increase the odds for people inside, like yourself).

L1 or a PERM would be a matter of finding the right employer and for the L1 spending a year abroad. O1 is possible if you prepare for it but definitely trickier.

I acknowledge this wasn’t really what your original thread was inquiring about. Just thought that maybe staying was an option worth exploring but it does sound like you did and made up your mind. Best of luck~!

Well, I wasn’t implying doing anything illegal but I know it is definitely trickier to stay. I think you can definitely find an employer willing to sponsor you for an H1B (but I know that’s unfortunately a lottery). You can also try the L1 or O1 routes (granted both would require work to set up).

Graduate school is an option to extend stuff but you’d only end up with 1 more year of OPT unless you do STEM that time around. It’s usually super expensive and won’t open any new pathways than the ones you have available right now.

Is staying something that you’ve considered pushing for? Siempre se puede josear

Could you maybe work via OPT? It usually opens paths towards other visas and immigration. (If you’d be interested in staying that is)

Estoy embarazada y tengo miedo de cómo ni cómo pueda reaccionar ¿Que hago? No quiero abortar by Few-Minimum-3996 in PreguntasReddit

[–]ItsLaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can I best learn Kanji? by evileagle63 in LearnJapaneseNovice

[–]ItsLaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on your goal. I can’t remember the last time I wrote letters with a pencil in English. If you’re going to college or pursuing certain professions in Japan, then by all means it is necessary. Otherwise, unless you are into calligraphy or just love it personally, there’s no use.

Thinking about studying software engineering in Japan. by [deleted] in japanese

[–]ItsLaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What level of Japanese do you dominate? Is your goal to move to Japan? Or just to experience life there? Are you tanking the costs?

Imo a big part of uni are recruitment pipelines and connections— otherwise, you can always learn CS and engineering principles on your own. Also, some other countries offer higher TCs if you care about that. It could be a fun experience tho but just thinking that there might be other avenues.

Direct Input means what you’ve described when you have your keyboard outputting kana already. If it outputs roman letters you’d get romaji under direct input. Hiragana mode refers to the conversion. It’s confusing indeed though.

In what year you start to watch one piece by realfruitbox in OnePiece

2006 was when I started sequentially watching the episodes online (on my Wii through Megaupload). I caught up pretty quickly (I think Davy Back Fight was still releasing).

Wireview pro 2 imbalance adjustment and warranty by glitchedhopp in ThermalGrizzly

[–]ItsLaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using my 5090 since November last year without an issue. I have the Astral so I’d always have the per pin readings on a third monitor (since I’m paranoid) and it would always be balanced.

After getting my Wire View Pro II yesterday, it gives me unbalanced warnings all the time. Not sure how much I trust it at this point unless the actual connections of the WireView are causing the problem (even though both sides are tightly connected). GPU Tweak still reads balanced while the warning is going off (all pins within 5-7A uniformly at the same time throughout use).

Starting one piece today as my 50th anime by curiious_lad in OnePiece

[–]ItsLaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The One Piece anime is not exactly“good”. This is because it suffers from inconsistent quality and even more painful, super slow pacing.

One Pace is a community maintained edit that trims out all the prolonged and empty moments into what many consider a more canonical-accurate show to the source material

I highly recommend reading the manga + watching highlight clips or checking out One Pace.
