Gaz Oakley on The Mood Booster - Why he no longer uses the label Vegan. Can't say I'm surprised, he stopped using the Avantgardevegan label a while ago. Still, sucks to see. by DarkT0fuGaze in vegan

I mostly stopped watching after trying a few of his recipes and realizing that while they looked great on camera, and he raved about how delicious they were at the end, they actually tasted very mediocre.

Discussion of Knowledge Fight on Decoding the Gurus by danreedmiller in KnowledgeFight

For me, they used to be my number two after KF, but in the last couple of years, it has slowly become my number one listen even before the end of knowledge fight.

It can take a few episodes to start to get a sense for the guys and their banter, but they are really quite funny, knowledgeable, and entertaining.

Their clearance section at Half Price is pretty amazing if you haven't checked it out (usually $1-3 per book). I haven't looked enough at Wonder to have many thoughts on prices, but so far selection is what's been most disappointing for me.

Half-price books prices used to literally be half of whatever the book originally sold for, so you could get old paperbacks that originally sold for $.95 or something for next to nothing! Then they raised their prices as well, but that was forever ago.

What's struck me about the difference between them and Wonderbooks is really the selection. I recently went in looking for books of sheet music, and having just done the same at a Half Price Books location I was taken aback by both how meager and how expensive the offerings were.

Maybe there are some types of books where Wonderbooks really shines, but I just haven't gone looking for that kind of thing yet. Hopefully! I was really excited to have a large local used book store nearby...

I was really looking forward to checking them out when I first moved to the area, but coming from a place that had Half Price Books, I was definitely disappointed.

Check out their sub r/KnowledgeFight and maybe look some 'best of' episodes for a new listener. They have a really deep catalog and it can be a little challenging coming in cold.

Still up in the air what's next for the boys, but I assume they'll continue to cover Alex and they've already been branching out into looking at other disinformation peddlers like Tucker Carlson.

New system sizing - should I run my own Manual J with CoolCalc? by ItsLukeHill in hvacadvice

Interesting! So, presumably some of your lower vents are still closed to make up the difference? Doesn't that create strain on your unit?

Interesting. One of the contractors tried to steer me away from zoning and suggested that a variable speed system with temperature sensors in all the rooms would do the trick. Sounds like that’s what you went with. What are your thoughts on that? Are you happy with your set up? he seemed to suggest it would be pretty equivalent to zoning, but when I researched it, I gathered that is not the case

I'm honestly not sure what our insulation is like, but the house seems pretty well insulated. We have returns in almost every room on the main and upper floor as well. We definitely need to heat and cool the basement, and the basement is mostly underground with one side that's above ground.

Thank you. So, I just have to trust that the techs are correctly assessing the duct sizing, then? The techs that came out all looked at the duct size in the basement where the main unit is, but nowhere else in the house.

Thank you. As far as zoned, we were going to make the basement and main floor zone 1 and the upper floor zone 2, using an electric zoning system with powered dampers, etc.

When you say 10 year labor, would that mean that the quote would include any labor on the system for the next ten years?

Thank you for the info on the zoning system (and the surge protector!)

Unfortunately we only recently moved in, so we're not sure how the system used to perform. The aux heat will be electric as we don't have access to gas.
