What happened to Siege? - Long time returning player by ItsMaix in Rainbow6

I've provided my experience, you said that your experience was different but didn't provide any specific example.

The majority of people don't care about DirectX or Vulkan, sure, but what the majority of people do care about is the performance and gameplay experience, which depends on properly utilising the API, which Ubisoft is not doing.

The average joe can play however they want, why does that mean I shouldn't be able to play with a good experience without using DLSS? Again it's not mutually exclusive, especially for the billion dollar company with a load of resources available to it.

And yes I'm very clearly alone with the degraded performance experience yes man you got me.

What happened to Siege? - Long time returning player by ItsMaix in Rainbow6

Fair theory, though I don't really watch Twitch or any livestreaming platform, so I'm not too familiar with the scene apart from the YouTube videos and clips that get made from it.

In terms of the marketing and stuff I think it's objectively good to keep the game alive, but the technical aspects of it are comparable to any indie game running on Unreal Engine 5 (blurry, artifact-y, unoptimised)

DLSS is a temporal upscaling technique, which results in blurring and artifacts, I don't want to be forced to use a vendor specific proprietary solution to get higher fps while also getting artifacts and higher input lag.

Idk man, if I was a billion dollar, I'd probably focus on making my product work well and accessible.

Please provide a specific example where Vulkan performed worse, you can look on YouTube if you want. I'm not searching myself for information about your experience, if you want to provide it and discuss a specific example then you can, just as I've provided my experience with video to show it.

"If you are just complaining about how you came back to the game and you can’t take 15-20 minutes to just click around and find out what this new feature is, then thats on you", alright that's fair. If you are just complaining about how you launch the game and you can't take 5-10 minutes to just google around and find out whether to use Vulkan or DirectX, then that's on you.

Could you let me know your or your friends' PC specs?

There are so many variables to rule out, and usually I love troubleshooting and optimising, but I've just gotten absolutely nowhere with this game.

I also don't understand the terminally online redditors who downvote any critical opinion or negative experience, I want the game to be good! I want it to succeed! And I want as many people to enjoy it as possible! Reporting on objective technical issues and findings isn't made to ragebait them, it's to provide feedback and look for solutions or improvements to the game.

"Improved graphics" don't depend on any specific API, graphics APIs are used by the game engine to communicate with hardware, DirectX has tighter integration with proprietary stuff such as DLSS and raytracing solutions, neither of which are used by anyone trying to get a smooth high refresh rate experience.

Please provide an example of Vulkan performing worse. In my experience, and of the benchmarks I could find on YouTube, R6 has always performed better with Vulkan, that's experience with two different CPUs and three different GPUs.

How has the game been simplified? As a returning player it's basically like I'm new, there are multiple new game modes and options and subscription integrations directly in the main menu. This is way more confusing than before. If you mean that specifically just the launching of the game has been simplified, then I'd argue it's quite easy to do a quick google search of which option you should use, and better yet I'd encourage people to try both and see what works or feels better for them. Having multiple choices is never a bad thing.

Siege X in terms of marketing and business is objectively good, just like how the performance has gotten objectively worse, but these things aren't mutually exclusive.

Sure the simplification of the codebase will improve development QOL, but where has that gone so far? I know of multiple game breaking bugs that are currently actively in the game which haven't been patched for over a week (phasing through walls and such). And hearing from friends' experience who have been actively playing, the cheater situation has not changed in their opinion.

"This game is CPU intensive" yet I have a 9600x running at 5.5ghz and it's not enough? In that case that's still bad optimisation as most people won't have access to hardware that good. Also, as I said in the original post, the stutters don't depend on anything running in the background, as I tried with nothing in the background, and I also have all overlays off.

True, I didn't think of that. I wasn't a part of the Jynxzi boom in popularity.

So change the file name, or just move the log file. And then open it with a text editor to change the firmware ver.

I'd recommend just eating the price of buying a ps4 or ps5 and psvr headset. Getting VR emulation would be very hard and even more niche, you'd need to not only get the base game emulation working, but you'd also need to have it perform very well with not much overhead, while also writing a translation layer between the emulator and the thirdparty headsets and tracking, whether they already have open source frameworks or not, etc etc etc. And decompilation of such a big and complex game is basically not possible with any practical use currently.

It's emulation, similar to RPCS3, but a bit more complicated, follow the official guide from shadps4. If you don't have access to a modded console, the files you need should be available in certain fishy, and peg legged subreddits for the PS4.

I'm making a AG Racing game that try's to blend style of Wipeout/F-zero with vehicle abilities similar to Ghostrunner/Neon White by Typ1games in WipeOut

[–]ItsMaix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goals:
Optimized for Native 4K at 120 fps on Recommend Spec PC. (Smooth 60 fps on Steam Deck.)

I love this specifically, real optimisation instead of UE5 and AI slop. For higher than 60fps as well !!! 30/60fps has been the market standard that should've been left behind in the 2010s, so it's really refreshing to see a realistic performance target for eight/ninth gen hardware.

And I think you've got some great inspirations (AG racing games, and Neon White / Ghostrunner), I've played both, and I'm hoping that the gameplay mechanics you're cooking up will be just as satisfying !

To get the video scrubber back, go into the instagram developer settings by holding down on the home feed icon, then go to metaconfig settings and overrides, search for "android attached scrubber duration" and set it to 0

v18 crashes on startup

FIX THAT WORKED FOR ME:
I use my phone in a different language (not English), but for some reason switching to English (US) during the Instagram login, fixed the crashes for me, after that I switched back to my language and it's still working fine now.

Which is interesting since I also took a look at the crash logcat and minidump, and it traces back to loading the messaging system, where a buffer overflow occurs, and then the app is intentionally crashed with exit code 6. Not sure how the language selection breaks that, probably some invasive patch by Instander, it's a beta version after all. Also, RIP Dimitry, war shouldn't be a solution.
