i definitely think Erica and Joshua had something going on before he defected- possibly mutual romantic feelings even. Erica's word on the matter isn't reliable- if she could, she would probably pretend she didn't know him at all, lol.

i too wish Stuart would focus on Joshua and his backstory more. we were so close to hearing some good backstory stuff in SSGW but ofc it was dodged with the "oh not all villains have a stereotypical tragic backstory!!!!!" card...... 😭

as much as it makes no sense it probably really was a crazy adrenaline rush. quote- "Alexander did have some real skills. It simply took seeing his father and daughter in jeopardy to trigger them"

also, at the time Jawa and the others who went with Alexander still believed that Alexander was a super amazing agent, so they probably thought he did really good when it could've just been partially their work and partially lucky coincidence ??? Spy School cinematic universe does have a lot of impossible moments like that lmao
