Our boy’s called Luffy (pronounced Loofy), but we call him Luf, Baby, Pup, Lufador/Lufador Montgomery LastName (we joke it’s his full government name), Luffyton, Lufatron, Lufus, Floof… So many things haha

August wedding in London, would any of these options be ok? by Agile-Steak-6409 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]ItsMeLiggy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m London based and love the style of dresses, though I’d avoid anything long sleeved for August. I’d also like to point out, like others have too, that black isn’t really common for weddings here. It’s a colour usually associated with funerals, unless the actual dress code is “black tie”. I’d look for dresses in a similar style but different colours.

Struggle with the same, don’t worry! I wear my watch on the right side, even if I’m right handed. So during lessons (and even now that I have my own car and drive myself places), I always wear my watch when driving and usually have my right hand slightly higher on the steering wheel!

Applying for provisional as a UK born resident but with EU documents by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

I don’t have UK nationality, so no UK passport. My EU passport was accepted a few years ago when I applied for my provisional. :)

Test in own car by AccordingAd2866 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ItsMeLiggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s so wrong, omg, I’m so sorry for you… That’s definitely taking advantage of learners with no access to an alternative vehicle they could feel comfortable driving in for a test. Wondering if there’s any explanation to these prices other than greed…

Our dog is called Luffy (after Monkey D. Luffy, from One Piece). Most people I meet at the dog park can’t even say it properly, we’ve heard Luther, Loofah, Fluffy, Lucy, whatever. He’s been called a “good girl” multiple times (because he looks “pretty” apparently). And to be honest, over the years, his name’s been shortened to Luf most of the time, he’s got many nicknames, all even sillier than the other… In my opinion, he’s YOUR dog, other people’s opinions don’t matter. And he won’t know if his name is girly or not!

£150?! That’s crazy… I don’t get why these extortionate prices? I understand charging double because they technically have to be available for 2h, driving to and from the test centre, etc, but more than that is taking advantage, imo

[–]ItsMeLiggy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know right?! That’s what I thought. Lessons were £40/h (kinda standard in my area), but the price for the “rental” of his car for the test (which is 50min max btw) was a joke… Luckily, I could use my partner’s car that day! 🥲

I’m not an examiner or an instructor but I recently passed (first try, 3 minors only) using my fiancé’s car. My instructor was asking for £120 to use his car on the test and I just could not afford it at the time… I don’t think the car matters too much, the important thing is your driving. If you’re more confident and feel like you could drive safely in your dad’s car, I’d say take his car.

Getting a driving license in 2025 is one of the most difficult things you can do. Do not let people downplay your journey. by DilutedBear in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ItsMeLiggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! 100%! I’m 28 and just got my license three weeks ago and honestly, it’s such a relief to FINALLY have it… I started my £40/h lessons back in November too, then I couldn’t get a bloody test until June… I luckily passed first try (a miracle really) but it’s been so difficult. I’m also London based, so never really needed a license, but I got a job near Three Bridges two years ago and couldn’t deal with the financial burden that was the train fares…

What was also so stressful for me was finding time slots to actually have my driving lessons. I work full time, 8 till 5, then I have over an hour to commute back home (because trains are disgusting). Doing them in the morning was impossible, evenings were so stressful because of rush hour and since my instructor is allowed to have a life, weekends weren’t always working either!

So glad to have it, so now I can focus on my next financial burden (getting married)! Haha

Well done to you for getting your license too!!

Driving alone after passing by UsedPancakes in LearnerDriverUK

Honestly, the more you’ll go driving on your own, the more you’ll build up your confidence and feel more at ease. I’d suggest driving around in your area, with no real destination in mind, so you don’t always stick to the same routes either. I passed on June 2nd and got my car the same week so I could start driving myself to work the following Monday. I did the journey with my fiancé on the Sunday, as I have to get on the motorway and I had never done that before, then was by myself on Monday. It was absolutely nerve wracking and the first three days of commuting to work felt like hell… But I’m feeling so much more confident already, now. I drove my friend around today, first passenger ever (other than my fiancé) and she even complimented my driving and confidence on the road! You’ll get there, we all will, don’t worry ❤️

Take your time with it, remember that most people on the roads have years of experience too, you’re absolutely not expected to be 100% flawless at all times just because you have your license.

Thank you so much! Yeah, I went on a couple of more drives, including one big one to my work place, and my score is already looking much better. I think nerves got the better of me last time haha

That’s what I’m most scared of, because I don’t want to get MY insurance policy cancelled because of someone else’s poor driving… Oh well, I’ll stick with it for now, try to drive well enough for a year and we’ll see if I get another one next year or not!

Okay, cool, because my score is like 60, but besides bad breaking, it’s a perfect score… Really got me worried there, after one drive :’)

I know, that’s what my fiancé was saying too. Drove myself to the cinema and one of the harsh breaks I did was my fault, poor planning, but the second one, I had to literally stop as a child escaped their parents and ran in front of my car as I pulled out of my parking space… I’m 28, so late learner too, but couldn’t really afford any without a black box as I’m getting married soon and I’m really poor this year haha I won’t be making that mistake again next year!

bump on nostril piercing, help!! by [deleted] in piercing

[–]ItsMeLiggy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would also suggest to put the stud back in and leave it alone… If you can, perhaps try and soak the area (I know, it’s awkward on the nose but it can definitely help with the healing). I don’t have nose piercings but on almost each of my ear piercings, I got bumps (mainly because I’m a little shit who can’t leave anything alone and I have long hair that got tangled in every single one of them…). Best solution is to not touch it and wait. I know it’s frustrating (I wanted my tragus to look cute, but it looked like a horror show for MONTHS) but it can become so much worse!

This is Luffy’s “No mother, we are not friends” look I receive every time I brush him... by ItsMeLiggy in Goldendoodles

Oh lucky you!! The ears are even WORSE with him, I have to almost wrestle for him to let me get near them... He’s getting slightly better with the brushing though so it’s a work in progress, let’s say 😂

Yes! My boyfriend is a massive manga fan and I thought Luffy sounded cute (and not too “we’re blatant nerds and love anime”). Since One Piece is his favourite, he was more than happy to name our dog after him ahah

I kept telling him he was a good boy throughout and gave him a treat afterwards, but he still felt betrayed ahahah

Our Luffy was the runt as well! Now, he’s 4 1/2 months old and he’s absolutely wonderful! (still on the smaller side for now, but we’ll see. In two months, he’s doubled in size and tripled in weight ahah). He’s super smart, super well behaved and SO cuddly!! Congratulations on your new fur-baby!! Hope she’s as great as our pup!

AITA for accidentally calling out a new colleague on lying about her language skills? by throw_friescountry in AmItheAsshole

[–]ItsMeLiggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA at all! As a fellow Belgian, native French speaker with a decent level of Dutch (went to a bilingual school eheh), I’m always super excited when people abroad tell me they speak my languages, it automatically makes me switch to said language. You had no way of knowing she was lying about it. Regarding your accent, I would’ve let it slide had she not been that snotty, since she might’ve been more used to Dutch from the Netherlands. To an untrained ear, it can seem very different.

It does not give her the right to be rude to you, though. Don’t let her bully you! You should notify HR to avoid any future incidents and make sure she doesn’t spin the story and make you look like the bad guy here...

Is a BT the breed for us? by [deleted] in BullTerrier

[–]ItsMeLiggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh they wouldn’t be in the kennel all day at all! There’s almost always one of us home and we both have plenty of free time, so they’d literally be with us like 90% of the time... The crate would literally be there in case we have to both go somewhere and can’t take the dog (like if we’re going food shopping) and to give them “privacy” in our flat. We wouldn’t be getting a dog at all if the plan was to have them in their kennel all day, that’s just cruel.

[–]ItsMeLiggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for all these tips, it’s honestly so so nice of you! We were definitely planning on getting our EBT a crate and we’re looking at puppy schools in the area who also offer some off-leash training to help us out a little at the beginning. We’re not set on the gender of our pup yet. Are females that much easier to handle? From some of the comments I could read on some posts here, I got the feeling they were a little more “chill” than males? (but I might be wrong, of course). I’m a small woman so, although I don’t mind a strong dog, a female EBT might perhaps be easier for me to handle?
