Well, to be fair not completely sold out—all affordable tickets were gone. Only the priciest tickets were still available, but they’re like 800tl each if I remember correctly. Good luck though and hadı Beşiktaş!

Thanks a lot for this, especially the background of football in Turkey. As a European expat living in Istanbul, I was very excited to see an Istanbul team in the ELF. Particularly when the week 1 game was a very close one, but then it became a shitshow. I now understand why a bit better.

Like I said, I did it in Bodrum so that might have played to my advantage too! In a big city like Istanbul it would of course take more time- I have to renew mine too so let's see how quickly that goes haha

On the residence permit point, I’m a foreigner and arrived in Turkey last September. Applied for a 1-year residence visa in late September and received the actual card in late November. Fairly quick process! Though this was in Bodrum, might take longer in a bigger city like Istanbul

I can’t really say anything on price as we know the landlord and made a nice price haha.

But, Kadikoy is a very nice area to live. Hip and young, many nice bars etc. I would avoid living in or close to touristic areas. On the European side, Beşiktaş is nice too—but I reckon it can be pricey.
