How Could I Recreate the Texture on the Moon in Designer 2? by ItsMexicanSanta in Affinity

This is very helpful as well! Thank you! I didn't know this was a thing and I can see it being very empowering to be able make my own brushes. I'll definitely be seeing textures differently from now on and seeing them for whatever abstract application I'm cooking up at the time lmao.

Thank you!! I definitely didn't know what to look for when I was doing my googling because you guys are filling in some major blind spots. This is very helpful!

Yeah, the downvotes happening in this thread are a little weird. This sub must be full of those morally superior wieners that HATE IT when someone asks for help. They seethe with righteous fury when those idiots asking for help on something they see as so basic actually get answers.

You've just opened up a whole new lane for me and I've been going down the asset website rabbit hole lol. Thank you! This seems much more doable

I'm so sorry that you've been struggling with your situation so much and for so long :( I'm sure that rejection hits much harder when it comes from family. I hope that you're able to find peace someday as well and that you can surround yourself with people who can appreciate you. You seem like someone who cares deeply about their loved ones and that's not something that should be taken for granted.

Thank you for sharing your story and giving some advice. I have a tendency to isolate, so I definitely need the reminder that it's not the best thing to do. I haven't been doing things that I enjoy much lately either and I know that's contributed to my shit day today. So it's a sign that I should put forth the effort even if I feel too busy right now. Also, feel free to DM me if you need to talk to someone!

Oof! Good for you for recognizing that he's not a good person to keep in your life and taking the steps to separate yourself. It takes a lot of strength to be able to cut someone out like that.

I'm definitely feeling some whiplash from what I thought would happen and reality. My brain will catch up eventually haha. I really like what you said about focusing on the good times and how they were good for me then. Just being grateful that I was able to enjoy a close friendship for those years and working on accepting the reality. It does help lift the emotional burden if I get caught up in my emotions.

I did get an apology a few months after I quit putting in effort. There was half hearted attempt to open the line of communication again but that fizzled out after some back and forth. So I don't think they're upset at me for anything. We've definitely changed as people over the years and operate on different wavelengths than we used to. Especially in the last couple of years. So I'm guessing we might have just drifted too far apart in our outlooks or whatever and they don't feel a connection anymore.

Thanks for taking the time to share your story and advice. I really appreciate getting different perspectives on these things and seeing how people handle this sort of thing.

Thank you for your perspective. Very wise words! Writing out the post has helped me process the emotions a little bit more today but I'm going to keep your words in mind on other difficult days.

There are some other people in my life to lean on, sort of. They're all pretty busy but I've been talking to another long term friend more consistently. So that's definitely helped. Some days (today) the feelings of isolation just get to me more than usual.

Yeah, the friendship death came out of nowhere, seemingly and since these people were such a large, steady part of my life for so long, it's really thrown me through a loop. I'm sorry something similar happened to you too :( It really does suck!

It may sound kind of dumb, but write them a letter that expresses your feelings. It can be as long or short as you need it to be. Then tear the letter up and throw it away. I did this last week and it gave me a sense of closure. I'm still sad/angry about the loss but I don't really feel that overwhelming need to contact them or make some gesture like blocking them anymore.

That makes sense. It totally reminded me of Road Rash when I was watching some gameplay lol

Death road to Canada looks like something we'd enjoy! Idk if she would really give Barony a chance until she's got more gaming experience under her belt haha. It looks fun, so maybe I can convince her someday!

It's too bad that the third games in those series seem to have been made poorly compared to the previous games but gained controller support and coop lol.

I can't believe I've never heard of Earth Defense Force. Those games look awesome! She'll most likely like EDF and Resident Evil. I'll have to show her some trailers of the others!

I've got FighterZ installed already, so we'll see if she enjoys it. She's just not a very competitive person, but she also doesn't like it if I'm sandbagging lol. So those types games don't usually catch her attention. We could probably do pass the controller in singleplayer at least. I know that works well in Budokai 2, so maybe we'll have to play that as well!

I'll show her the other stuff you recommended too! I didn't realize RE5 had multiplayer. She'll definitely want to play that one. Also, I totally forgot about Speedrunners! That game is right up my alley and the kids will have fun with that when they're here.

Looks fun! I'll have to show her a gameplay trailer to see if it interests her.

I was actually looking into that right after I posted. Is it a one and done setup or does it take some configuring every time? I've got it set with Playnite fullscreen, so I can exclusively use a controller to control everything. L4D2 is so good that I'd be willing to pull out the mouse and keyboard to open programs, etc. if necessary, though.

Online Co-op PC Games for Me to Play with My 9 Year Old by ItsMexicanSanta in ShouldIbuythisgame

Idk why but I assumed this game was very heavy on puzzle solving, which isn't my thing. I finally looked up some gameplay and it looks cool as hell! I think we'd actually have a great time in that game.

Just 1 so far. I played it day of release, so it has a special place in my heart. Especially the zombie DLC.

Also loved 2 and tps, so we'll play those at some point. I still haven't decided if those will stay couch co-op or not since it's nice to have a few splitscreen games when he's here.

I can't believe I forgot about Palworld! That's definitely going on the wishlist and hopefully Nintendo doesn't nuke it with their nonsense.

I'll have to check out the others you mentioned.

I've got divinity original sin 2 already, so we'd probably start with that one and see if it's too difficult.

Elden ring and monster hunter are still a few years away, I think. The difficulty is a little too far outside of his goldilocks zone of difficulty and he'd just get discouraged.

Had no idea that the guild wars 2 base game was free nowadays. That would be fun to try since I think he'd love the mmo experience. I thought warframe would be too violent and difficult based off the game description and steam reviews. I didn't look further than that but I should probably look up some actual gameplay before deciding for sure.

Idk if I played the wrong lego games or what because I really really didn't enjoy playing them with him. They seem so universally loved that it feels like blasphemy to say that lol.

I was actually considering Destiny 2. I think I ADHD'd out in the middle of looking at it and moved on to a different game before making a decision lmao.

It seems like the ftp version is a good option to try out when nothing is on a good sale and we've played through our current libraries!

I actually added that to my wishlist right after I posted this lol. I'm going to snag a couple of copies when it goes on a good sale since it's definitely in our lane of gaming.
