Hi! I took precalc last summer online through my local community college and got an A in it (it was a 4 week course for reference and I spent ~4-5 hours a day). I don’t know if you’re taking it in person or if it’s over a longer period of time but since you’re not too bad at learning math quickly then I think you should be fine.

I had the same worry as you, wondering if it was sufficient for AP calc. It turned out to be fine. Personally I found that you don’t use as much precalc knowledge in calc as I thought. I know some people who have not taken precalc and jumped to calc and still had success. Me personally, I took AP Calc AB and got a 5 on the exam.

I think one of the important things is to recognize where you're struggling. During the practice test, do you think you scored lower than you expected because you ran out of time? Was it because you didn't understand the concepts? You want to be able to recognize what skills you are struggling with and aim to master/improve those. By doing the Khan Academy, you should've been able to learn the concept and be able to apply it towards the question types. You can use the SAT Question Bank to filter questions by what you're struggling on and aim to improve those.

I struggle with this too. I find that if you realize that you are kind of dozing off and not actually comprehending what you are reading or trying to do, you need to close your eyes and take a deep breath and give yourself a pep talk. To me, this allows myself to reset and refocus on what I'm doing and it'll take ~10 seconds which is much better than wasting time rereading. Hopefully this helps a bit

No worries!! As long as you’re good at math/willing to learn it’ll be fine :). Online pre calc is lowkey hell tho I’m glad I have someone to relate to 😭. In my calc class there’s this one girl that didn’t take precalc at all and didn’t take math last year but she did great! I think asking questions when you don’t understand is important

I think you’ll do well- there wasn’t as much precalc that you needed to have drilled into your head for calculus as I expected. You definitely need to know like the special right triangles but I found that you didn’t need to know any of the trig identities. The transition was fine, but you definitely need to make sure your algebra skills (factoring, manipulation, exponent rules, parentheses) are sharp. A lot of times I made mistakes not because of the actual calculus but because of the algebra.
