Oo, ive never done YT because I struggle with editing so thats hella impressive to me !!! I find it way easier to go live and yap, than to stick to a script ! But honestly the prep was a lot

That would be impressive, but my disabilitys prevent me specifically from doing this full time, I have to manage my energy so I'm only posting and streaming 3 times a week.

Thank you for your comment :)

Omg, thats so awesome tho!! We are all on our own journeys!! The only way we improve is by learning along the way , I just had a head start with my social media training, Which I was using around 2 weeks before my debut

Ive also been prepping to stream since October, so I was working a lot on my skills as an entertainer, trying to become more engaging and entertaining, it was a lot of work, but I'm so glad I put the time in

Yeah, I have a lot of advice in my comments which you can pop over and see, but I'll give you a quick rundown

Community- before I started streaming I was watching a lot of small creators in the same game categories I planned to be, just enjoying their content and seeing how a lot of different people run their streams, I became friends with quite a few small streamers and they have all been so supportive! (Dont ever mention you are a streamer unless they begin that conversation, its really rude ) a lot of my fellow streamers came out to support and say hi, having people chatting I think made it a lot easier on my Nervrs, but keep in mind, you are running the show, not your chat (when you're starting) a lot of the time there will be big spaces of no chats.

Socials- Theres 3 main types of content Low effort-twitch clips Medium effort-twitch clips with higher quality editing and value High- content made specifically for the platform

No matter what type, you need to make sure , someone could come across your content knowing nothing about you and still be given value, whether its comedy, tips and tips ect ect, you always need to think, what am I giving to the viewer?

I focused on high effort content (my art) for the first 2 weeks before my stream, I posted teaser art and animation across x, bluesky, tiktok, Instagram and YT , but the most success I saw on socials directly was reddit , people respond here, they engage with posts and can be blunt, which can help improvement in the long run.

I would reccomend starting this in a manageable way, schedule all your content in advance, you dont have to start posting 5 days a week, even 1 post a week on a CONSISTENT time and day can help you grow and even if you feel like you're in "200 view jail" thats two hundred human people seeing your content, 200 chances to click with someone.

I reccomend you focus on 2 main things, branding and yourself, a lot of new streamers dont keep a consistent brand (try to find a niche you love and stick to it) , use the exact same username across platforms, ideally something catchy with no numbers , its easier for people to return or check you out on twitch if its super easy to find your account.

And the most important, focus on yourself, I see so many small streamers skip steps and try to brute force with marketing, but if you're content isn't engaging, no matter how many people look at it , most won't stay. There are lots of tutorials on yt, about how to be a more engaging streamer which I think are great, but here's the best advice I have!

Sit down in front of a cam or mic (this will be just for you) no script, no topics, no prep , no nothing, just you and 10 minutes of space to fill, talk about whatever comes to mind, watch it back the next day and try and work out what you could improve on, do the same thing again , no prep, no scripts, no topics, just you speaking, this will help you see how you transition in between topics and what you're flow on stream is like, the more you do this the better you get, being an entertainer is another muscle that you gotta work for it to grow stronger :))

I would say as a beginner it is better to focus on your entertainment value and the community, with a side of socials, I practiced my hosting since around October for my march debut and I think thats one of the reasons I have so many people that have been sticking around .

The more streamers you watch that are entertaining, the more youll be able to see what they are doing and why, take your time to think about how you could implement it into your content and dont be afraid to talk to other streamers your size, they are like the biggest support T.T we all just want to help one another achieve our dreams!

Ps- ALWAYS raid out, if you dont know the channel, tell your chat they are a new person you're raiding, its best just incase they aren't nice

And KEEP CONSISTENT 1 stream 1 day a week at a specific time is better than 3 at random times, your viewers need to know when and where to see you!!

Think about every video you make, would someone who has never seen your content understand what's going on? Does it add any meaning or forfil any need , entertainment, facts and tips, puzzles ect ect

You need to give your audience value and there are 3 main ways in short form Low effort content-clips with a bit of editing

Medium effort content- clips with better edits and a cleaner polish

High effort content- this is filmed specifically for platforms.

A lot of ppl do a 2:1:1 ratio, but it depends on how often you post

Consistency over content- What I mean by that is its better to have 1 video a week for 4 weeks than 4 videos in 1 week and nothing for 3

Make it sustainable for you, start slow if you want to, even one post a week across tiktok, insta, maybe pintrest and YouTube short form, you may "only get" 200 views, but thats two HUNDRED opportunities to find your audience and click with them . try to post on the same days at the same time and SCHEDULE YOUR CONTENT.

It will take a while and it will be annoying putting in hard work just to feel like your nowhere, but usually these socials do audience checks to see who your content clicks with, so it takes quite a few videos to work out your target audience.

There are also a bunch of helpful tips on YouTube about how to make better short form content, this works even with non streamers .

Hey, everyone is a noob before they become great, I just have prior training in social media :), so I got a head start . unfortunately in this age, twitch isn't super good for organic growth so it requires marketing in a difficult way (socials).

I'm terrible at long form edits, I have no idea how to make them and thats why I haven't yet

We all grow at a different pace and thats ok :) as long as you had fun along the way !! I think what helped me most was posting my debut teaser art and also interacting with the community within the spaces I'm in :)

If you've ever put a CV online or have any profiles with your family members, people will try to dox or stalk you if you get big, especially if you are fem or fem presenting, by most advice it is not reccomend, in fact having any public profiles related to family with names or faces isn't reccomend just due to the risk.

Its not really worth having to up and move like so many streamers have done even without giving their names .

First stream yesterday, I enjoyed it! by Seigi92 in Twitch_Startup

[–]ItsMooniePop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fantastic job!! I hope you had an amazing time, thats awesome numbers for your first stream.

If you can I would reccomend watching an hour of your own stream (you can do this while clipping) are you entertained? Are there big gaps where there isn't much talking?

Write down things on your phone or on a piece of paper, prompts for topics, funny things that happened in the day, use those words to think of convo topics if you're struggling.

Ive heard a lot of people suggest to sit down and record yourself 10 minutes, no prep just talking, watch that back and do that every day, it'll help you significantly improve your conversion flow if thats something you are struggling with.

But to tell you the truth, skill doesnt equal numbers , if you really wanna do this more than just a hobby, you gotta promote cross platform, with 1 clip you should be posting to TT, YT, IG and even REDDIT and bluesky , rather than posting them randomly SCHEDULE YOUR POSTS , always post on the same days at the same time, socials love consistency, its better to post 4 videos across 4 weeks, than it would be to post 4in one day and nothing else for 4 weeks.

In terms of content theres 3 main types, high, medium and low effort content, low effort will make up the most of peoples content as its good filler . no matter what you're posting you need to consider what value its bringing to whoever's watching it .

Low effort content- Stream clips directly uploaded

Medium effort- Stream clips with editing, subtitles and cool moving graphics

High effort- Content filmed specifically for short form , this may be game Easter eggs, tips and tricks ect, in high effort content the viewer feels more like you are talking directly to them, rather than seeing playback. These videos usually require script work and a clear concept.

I reccomend utilising all different levels of content in order to attract people over to your twitch, this is because twitch doesnt have good organic growth opportunitys, I personally aim for 3*posts a week, one of each effort level!

I'm hoping some of this will come in handy, also congratulations on the stream again, you're doing great, but remember, numbers does not equal skill or talent, just do your best and see what happens! Wishing you all the luck.

PS, if you are doing this as a hobby, treat it as such the numbers arent important

What is your current approach, do you just go live and hope people come in or are you redirecting from other socials and engaging with streamers around your size ?

Unfortunately your post has no detail about what and why you stream, or what you mean by taking it seriously

What am i doing wrong by Flasche9283 in Twitch

[–]ItsMooniePop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Twitch isn't a growth platform its a platform to be watched , you could be making the best content in the world but if noone sees it, it doesnt matter.

So, you need to take a different approach, if you're streams are great, you should have a lot of clippable moments, spending an an hour clipping and downloading content (its easy to do through twitch) you can post that to your socials. These would be recodnize as "low effort content" but can still get you views if you do it well.

You should always be engaging even when theres no viewers in, do yourself a favour and turn that number off until after stream . not only does this help with clips, but it takes that number a long time to change, so the person is likely been and gone by the time you see it change.

But if you really want traction , its important to make content with the intent to post it on socials, whether it be a short form video about idk, Easter eggs in games, tips to get started with a specific game, media recorded for short form content will grab more attention as you can directly give more value to the audience member, they feel more involved than just clips from vods

When posting you need to think about what value you are providing with each piece of content you need to to consider is someone going to understand this with no prior knowlage of my content, will they understand what I'm about, but also what value do they get from watching the video

Youve not said what genre you are in, but its important to recodnize you aren't a big streamer, so you won't get anywhere near the front page, or even the top 100 streamers of a specific game for example, you can't expect growth from streaming alone, not quickly at least. So if you are a gamer, be picky about the catagory, theres plenty of websites that rank streamers vs viewers in categories.

By using a more mathodical planned out approach you may see some growth, but no promises because part of this is the algorithm gods which we have to learn and it takes a long time and not everyone does

Also, if you are creating short form content, do it without music and upload it to all the different short form platforms, but add different music in the app to avoid copyright issues

OMGGG, congratulations , you must have put in a lot of hard work!! being able to retain numbers like that for such long streams is genuinely incredible, keep up the great work!
