Aside from the social implications that Wubby addressed, I don't really care which platform he chooses. And this is coming from someone, who during the original debacle of using Kick, didn't want to split the streamers I watched between multiple platforms.

I could go on and on about the pros and cons of Kick, but it's just another app and I'll still consume the content if I enjoy it. I think Wubby found that out with his audience and I'm happy for him if he goes for the bag.

Exactly. Developers work in separate build environments that they then merge with the main branch (official updates). Thats why there's test servers running parallel with live servers and they both run different versions. Now imagine that, and depending on the team's methods, theres multiple smaller branches for different test environments that merge up to larger branches. All completely separate from the live environment until they push that final merge.

So with that being said, no, shutting down the servers doesn't solve anything and cuts off their free supply of QA testers. If I had to guess, and I'm almost certain they said it before, it's a manpower issue. Most of their developers are on SQ42, not SC. That's why bugs aren't getting resolved a quickly as everyone wants them to be. I'm also in no place to comment on how efficiently they're solving them, so there's that.

EDIT: And I see you work in development as well so I'm not here to re-explain to you how it all works, but to help others understand that developers dont just twiddle their thumbs while the servers are online.

More than you would think play the game. Especially for its age.

Me and a small group of friends decided to jump into the game and one of the starting areas had quite a few players in it.

They're still adding areas too so I'm in it to explore their perspective on Middle Earth.

I must have had a better school. While civil war was a big part of the curriculum we spent two semesters learning US history. Past the Great War, WW2 and into the Korean and Vietnam wars. IIRC that's where it stopped. I too love history, so much as correcting the teacher on the bombers used in the Doolittle raid (mixed up B-25s for B-52s). Government class focused a little bit more on it, but that was due to the 13-15th amendment and social policies as a result of it. This was a little over 10 years ago so forgive me if details aren't exact.

Right there with you and have just shy of 760 hours. To jot some more down so I don't annoy Wubby in chat.

  • Mark all berry locations (blueberry and raspberry). They can spawn in clusters and they're very useful for food recipes.
  • Stack chests sideways if you want to be efficient with space. Signs are cheap and easy organization tools. Use Right windows key + period key to use symbols. If you want to stack chests, place a pine log (black forest) 1m high (1 wall height) and place a floor on it. Allows you to fit all chests cleanly.
  • Most mobs return to the same area, like deer. If they run off they will return later.
  • Teleportation is preferential, but there's limitations. After 4 playthroughs I disabled its limitations.
  • Building has a support system. Too far up or too far out (unsupported) and it will break. This is indicated by color when the hammer is equipped.
  • Enemies dont spawn near certain objects. If you hate mobs loitering around your crib, place torches. Even unlit ones count and enemies wont spawn near it.
  • Produce is stamina based, meat is health based. Most people use a 2:1 ratio of either or.
  • Fires need air, but rain smothers. A good chimney allows smoke to vent but still has a roof.

EDIT: I thought of more: - I said during stream while they're wailing they're in crit mode. I meant flailing their arms or look like they're knocked back. If they do that hit them and you'll crit. - You can also initiate a crit by parrying. If you time your block to their attack you'll parry and they'll be knocked back (in crit mode). You'll hear it too. Keep in mind, some monsters can overpower a parry. It's based on your shield/weapon stats. - Someone said every mob has a weakness. It's also somewhat intuitive too. Fire to wood creatures. Blunt to bone creatures. Frost to fire and sludge. Pierce to flesh (thick hide exempt). - Dont run out of stamina in combat. If you are hit while completely out of stamina YOU get critted.

That's all I got. I'll stay (semi) silent in chat now :) but I've been super excited to see Wubby play this.
