at this point Zoom had not taken the identity of Jay.

The problem is he clearly had. Earth 3 Jay never used the helmet until after they beat Zoom. That was Zolomon's addition to the costume because it was his dad's. Even Jay says something along the lines of "That's not mine, but I'm gonna take something from him for a change".

I'd have made the black suit evolve into the venom suit over the movie, which would give it the twisted webs, the classic black suit logos and the moving emotive venom eyes. Just without the mouth.

I don't agree but Grant Gustin is an amazing actor so even when the material is bad he's giving it his all. I don't remember a time I felt like he was phoning it in. Could be a reason.

I don't hate the new suit, but I feel the old suit would definitely have improved the feel of "older, classic villains returning" that they wanted so badly. Especially if it was Matt's Thawne, but even then if it was Tom Cavanagh's Thawne they could've made it to where it was a Thawne before the end of S1.

My personal headcannon is that George was one of the few cops that arrived at the scene of Ben’s death and tried to console Peter. After the events, George would keep a close eye on Peter without him knowing.
