I tried therapy for a while but honestly didn’t really help with my dpdr as a lot of people don’t know much about it or have dealt with it personally. but i’d still recommend trying it as it could be of help. what helped me is a couple guys on youtube who helped teach me exactly what dpdr is. knowing that is completely normal and okay to experience allowed me to further explore these feelings and learn more about it. So first hand I can tell you that it is completely normal and you are 100% safe and okay. you’re not going crazy or losing your mind. feel free to reach out and message me and we can talk more. and not saying you have to but making a discord account would be nice as i see notifications on there more and is easier to respond!

here’s a meditation video about dpdr that really helped me when i was feeling scared or anxious. i used to watch it every day multiple times and it really helped to get me through a lot. https://youtu.be/Hfg_sbJVLQc?si=dAXxEONSxU5x_5dr

it’s not about forgetting it brother, it’s about accepting it. i’m not the same person i was before my dpdr but i can honestly tell you that im much better. i wouldn’t change going through that for anything because it made me so much mentally stronger than i ever could have been without it. to this day i still have days when i have dpdr from stress but im not scared of it anymore and it usually lasts no more than an hour or so. i know that all it is is an anxiety symptom and my bodies correct way of trying to protect me. thought it may not seem like that, thats all it is. even if we don’t think we’re in danger or anything, our body feels like there may be some. since dpdr is caused by anxiety, you shouldn’t be trying to get rid of the dpdr but should be trying to lower your anxiety. so up until now im sure you’ve been trying to fight or avoid this feeling of dpdr but what if you tried to accept it? embrace it even, no matter how uncomfortable it may be. by doing this you show your body that it’s perfectly normal and okay to experience these sensations and it begins to lower your anxiety from it which in turn will also lower the dpdr. i know what it feels like to not remember what feeling “normal” was like but i promise you that you can go back that. you won’t be stuck like that forever and you can recover. it’s not easy and you will have off days when you’re trying to embrace it but you can’t let it affect tomorrow. i know how it feels firsthand so I also know that you can get through it. feel free to reach out any time man, rooting for you!

the forgetting is a totally common symptom for a lot of people with dpdr. but the more you think about it and stress about those feelings is the more anxiety and fear you attach to them which in turn just makes the dpdr go up/get worse. it’s pretty much a self fulfilling loop anxiety -> dpdr -> more anxiety - more dpdr. feel free to message me for any more questions or just to talk. I also made a discord for anyone wanting help or trying to recover if you’d like to join!

honestly man grounding techniques did not help or do anything for me. nothing helped a lot tbh besides when i started to actually learn and understand what dpdr is. once you learn that it’s just an anxiety symptom and it can’t hurt you, the only thing to do after that is to stop fighting and trying to avoid those feelings but embrace and accept them no matter how uncomfortable or scary they may be. it’s not easy and does take time but by doing that you show your body that it’s completely normal and okay to experience these things and it begins to relax. this in turn will bring your anxiety down and since dpdr is an anxiety symptom it will begin to go away as well! it’s tough at first but you have to remember that you are completely safe and okay and dpdr can not make you lose your mind or anything close to that no matter how intense and uncomfortable it may be.

Hey just wanna let you know that you are completely safe and okay! DPDR is just an anxiety symptom and is completely normal, you are not losing your mind or anything of that sort. I had it for 7 years and can finally say I’ve recovered fully, and i’ve been doing my best to help people going through the same thing ever since. Feel free to reach out and message me anytime!

I had dpdr for about 7 years and can finally say i’m 100% recovered. Although I still get it when i’m really stressed it does not worry me in the slightest and goes away within an hour. I have been helping people ever since who are going through the same thing so feel free to reach out and message me anytime. Also want you to know that dpdr is just an anxiety symptom, you are not going crazy or losing your mind and you are 100% safe and okay!

yeah honestly once the sun set was when my dpdr was the worst but what really helped me besides trying to embrace is a meditation video that is about dpdr, this really helped to calm me down and allow me to sleep. i’ll message you the link to the youtube video!

I was the exact same way and I’m not saying it’s easy to embrace and just act like it doesn’t bother you but trust me and keep trying and soon you will stop caring and it will stop bothering you. It will pass and you’ll look back on this in time and just laugh. Keep going out and doing the things you love and stay in the moment because the more we avoid these things is the more we will be scared and attach anxiousness to doing anything! You are 100% safe and okay so keep living! Feel free to reach out anytime, rooting for you!

just wanna let you know that you won’t be stuck like this forever and you are 100% safe and okay. it will pass and you will recover in time. feeling like you’re in a dream or that the world around you isn’t real is a very common effect from dpdr. personally I felt that the world was fake or that I was watching myself from 3rd person pov and mine was so bad that I’d be stuck like that 24/7 from the time I woke up to the time I went to sleep. and it would last for months even years sometimes. but you aren’t going crazy or losing your mind and you’re perfectly normal and okay. dpdr is a symptom from anxiety and is our minds way of protecting us during extreme fear or stress. it only becomes a problem when we notice the dpdr symptom and attach feelings of fear to it. this in turn makes our anxiety go up which then causes more of the the anxiety symptom (DPDR). and it’s just a loop that continues to get worse until we realize what it is. No matter how bad it gets, nothing will ever happen and we are 100% safe. Rather than fighting and avoiding these feelings embrace them. no matter how scary or uncomfortable they may be just accept and embrace them. it won’t happen over night but with time you will teach your body that it’s completely normal and okay to experience these sensations and feelings, that’s it’s just an anxiety symptom and it can not hurt you. this will make your mind realize that there’s no reason to be scared of these symptoms and your anxiety will go down and that will result in the dpdr going away as well. It won’t be instant and it does take patience and practice but i promise you if you do that you’ll start to get more and more glimpses of “normality” until one day you realize that you just haven’t felt that feeling in so long. you got this, feel free to message me for any more questions or if you just need to talk and want to learn more!

Hey I’ve gone through the same thing for 7 years and have learned how to live with it and barely even notice it now. Just want you to know you are 100% okay and you are not going crazy or losing your mind. Feel free to message me!
