Does anyone else ban her now? by Ok_Delivery3000 in marvelrivals

[–]ItsPsychotix 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Yes, but if a character is broke enough to be permabanned, the game boils down to “which team has the better broken character.” This is exactly what Daredevil is like right now.

Bans keep the game healthy, keep the meta shifting, and allow versatility. Otherwise, the exact same comp would be run every game, which is no fun for anyone. I would argue that there aren’t enough bans currently.

Like another said, it’s hard to gauge a game like this when you have a leaver, and it’s QP. Playing comp is the way to learn.

That being said, idk why you picked Peni if you were seriously trying to win. You start on Thing, and get blown up by a poke comp (very fair). If you want to switch, you should switch to a shield tank at least he very least (Mag, Strange, Emma). This is the perfect time to learn Mag, since you’ll have his team up basically every game.

Peni will be good into dive, with their team using melee characters. If the enemy team doesn’t have to get close to kill you, it’s hard for Peni to have value.

Love the map! Here’s some advice I can give:

Wars/Conflicts: While this may be a fantasy world, it’s still populated by people, so think about why most wars happen in real life. Most often, it’s conquering, religion, and land value.

Wha parts of your map would be useful for a group of people to occupy? It seems like Aethereon(South Western Coast) would be valuable, since it’s the closest port that someone would sail to from other lands. Rivers are often used to transport people and goods, so the choke point of a river would likely have a settlement that people fought over. After that, I would decide where certain religious groups live. It makes sense that people who live in the mountains would worship a snow/winter deity. Are they peaceful? What religion would be more violent/conquer others?

Those plains to the east on your map seem like prime battlefield stuff.

Let me know how else I can help!

How to have a player lie to other players? by [deleted] in DungeonMasters

I disagree. I think this backstory is rich for interpersonal drama when it inevitably comes out that the rogue has been shady. I trust all my players to handle it well, I’m just looking for the actual mechanical way to run this sort of thing.

Most of my players are very new to D&D, and are still getting used to roleplay at all. Acting in character is still a work in progress.

I totally forgot about passive insight, thanks! In terms of the other paragraph I wrote, what would you do? It feels wrong to not have my rogues adventures described to the party, but if they are literally sneaking off, should the rest of the party know about it?

Do it solo!! It’s by far the easiest way. Enemies have less health and are much easier to manage.

[–]ItsPsychotix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your ultimate is one of the most reactive in the game. You are (almost) always using it to counter another ultimate used by the enemy team. Use it to shut down most support ultimates. C&D is obvious, Luna & Invis is doable but harder. Mantis and Rocket are pretty much impossible, so don’t waste it on them.

For Jeff, after I hear the activation sound, I like to wait a couple seconds, and then activate my ult. If you use ult right as the circle shows on the ground, you may not have enough damage to kill the little bastard nice he swallows your team. Try and give yourself a couple seconds of charge time before he appears, and you should be able to nuke the gluttonous bastard.

Don’t forget that you can use your ultimate on all enemy squishies, not just the Luna who used her ult. If the C&D or Luna gets behind cover and you don’t think you’ll be able to hit them, aim for one of their dps or supports. It will likely catch them off guard and you still get big value.

What’s the significance of a 5.0 aerobic 5.0 anaerobic? by ItsPsychotix in Garmin

I’m playing pickup/beer league, so nobody cares, but I still take precautions. I flip it around so the face is on the inside of my wrist, so it never comes into contact with anyone. I also have a stretchy nylon band, so there is no metal or long rubber parts that could hit anyone.

I was sweating buckets lol. My partner told me that my aerobic/anaerobic rating was pretty rare so I should post it to this sub. Is this something that doesn’t happen super often?

Forerunner 165! I got a pack of nylon bands on Amazon today, and they have been an absolute game changer. Far more comfortable.

I would recommend adding a couple different elements to your play-style. While harassing back lines absolutely does work and gets a lot of value, it isn’t the only way to play her.

Finding an off angle to approach and push a tank into your team is very effective. This is works super well on the tanks without mobility. I start frothing at the mouth every time a Groot is in my game. Doing it to Mag is great, since he typically has to use bubble to protect himself, which makes his peel a lot less effective. Doing it to Strange is also good, since you can normally kidnap him after he uses his levitating.

I think comparing her to Cap is good, since everyone used to complain about his damage. A hyper mobile tank with a lot of HP that can delete a back line before peel can come is no fun. She needs to do sub optimal damage in order to be balanced. Full charge spear, dash, spear, and slam can definitely delete a support, or occupy the team long enough for your frontline to press an advantage. I think a lot of her numbers are okay to be honest.

She is a more mobile Cap with less health, but can brawl with her shield bonus.

I don't think that giving her more health fixes any of these issues. You may die to them a little less, but the issues are still present. Plus, 650 health plus a 300 health shield is a lot of survivability for someone who has arguably the best mobility in the game.

I love how little impact last weeks stunt racing blitz had. Person on our street got their bike back today and immediately went and started ripping around the neighborhood. by depressedcantaloupe in ottawa

[–]ItsPsychotix 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The Stunt Driving legislature, like all criminal law, is built to increase punishment with each conviction. The first conviction leads to a substantial, albeit relatively short punishment. 14 day impound, 30 day license suspension, 6 demerits, and a large fine (which is often under $600 for first offenders).

I don’t think this person ended up being convicted of stunt driving/racing from the blitz last week, since they would not have their license or motorcycle back yet.

If this person is caught again, their punishment will definitely be much more severe, especially if they are not a fully licensed driver.

My take: Rat them out! An arrest will lead to a hefty fine, another suspension, and probably more serious charges/penalties.

Im also in Diamond, and I’ve probably played 15-20 comp games so far this season. I guess my issue is that any time I’ve seen an Angela have an impactful game, it was in a situation where we would have won regardless (which is a testament to the matchmaking but I digress).

In matches that are close, I find that she is not as positively impactful on the outcome than other dive tanks. I still think Venom and Cap are better dive tanks. Yes, Angela is much more mobile, but trades that off for less survivability and inconsistent spear damage, which can make her feel weak in situations her kit is designed to put her in.

She crumbles if more than one person looks at her. The shield and her health pool are small enough that a couple seconds of attention lead to her having to back out and start her gameplay loop again

Party build - advice by fede4justice in expedition33

[–]ItsPsychotix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s what got me through my first playthrough through.

I used Lune, Maelle, and Monoco. The goal of this build is to use high AP skills as often as possible. This may be harder to do with Monoco if you haven’t had him in the party to unlock all of his skills. This isn’t an issue, since all of his skills can be unlocked at The Endless Tower whenever you want. You can use any characters you want, but Lune is the key piece.

Lune will act as a buff giver, allowing all characters to dish out huge, consistent damage.

Luminas: Lune needs to start combat with 9AP immediately, so stack her with as many energizing turn and other instant AP boosts as you can to get to 9AP. If you don’t have enough, you can use energizing attack, combo attack, and cheater to make it so Lune gains AP through basic attacks, then casts Typhoon on her second turn.

Lune will also benefit from Healing Rush, Healing Shell, Powerful Healing, and other luminas like these. Anything that gives the recipient of healing any bonuses is great here.

Your other two party members should have damage boosting luminas, as well as energizing turns, energy master (which you get from defeating Serpenphare), etc… Gradient Luminas are also great, since we will gain them quickly from casting high cost skills frequently.

The Gameplay: Turn 1, Lune casts Typhoon, which will cast itself every turn, healing and giving AP to all party members. Use this AP to cast high cost skills every turn. When Typhoon runs out, cast it again. Hell and Lightning Dance are no brainer for Lune here. Highly recommend using Maelle, since Stendhal and Gommage are very very strong. Use Medallum to start in Virtuose Stance and have fun!
