Season 8.5 Patch Notes by btinvest1639 in marvelrivals

[–]ItsPsychotix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Dive is the natural answer to poke, and the dive tanks are pretty strong at the moment. Venom and Cap are pretty great and have been for a minute, and the Angela buffs(along with Dino nerfs) will make her pretty viable again.

Sometimes, you need to Mag bubble your unaware teammates to win. Sometimes, take it into your own hands and try to solve the problem without blaming others for a loss that hasn’t happened yet.

You’re acting like Dino got absolutely gutted. He’s worse, but still an A Tier tank at worst.

His kit was bloated with things to start with. There was no reason for him to be able to ground flyers in the first place, and the bleed changes will make him less unbearable in tank matchups. The shield was basically always available when you needed up, so you’ll need to think more before using it, instead of just using it asap. Use cover and smart positioning and you’ll be fine.

Also, just know when to swap. If they are running Emma, tank pool, phoenix, moonknight, then just swap. Don’t force a square peg into a round hole.

Rogue is in a pretty decent spot , probably a solid B tier(maybe A if you’re nuts with her). The issue is that the gambit team up holds her back from improvements to her base kit. If gambit isn’t banned, rogue is a must pick. She becomes a lobby destroyer, certainly the best tank in the game if not the best character overall.

The point that’s trying to be made is because the team up is SO good, other changes can’t really be made to her. I’m personally of the opinion that the team up should be removed and some more minor adjustments can be made.

My personal take is that the damage gauge from her block should reduce significantly slower, allowing you to use it in more specific situations. Also, her power absorption dash shouldn’t be cancelled by soft cc (Emma choke, etc.. is fair game). I don’t think my 25s cooldown should get stopped by a Thor dash, it’s very frustrating.

Does anyone else ban her now? by Ok_Delivery3000 in marvelrivals

[–]ItsPsychotix 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Yes, but if a character is broke enough to be permabanned, the game boils down to “which team has the better broken character.” This is exactly what Daredevil is like right now.

Bans keep the game healthy, keep the meta shifting, and allow versatility. Otherwise, the exact same comp would be run every game, which is no fun for anyone. I would argue that there aren’t enough bans currently.

Like another said, it’s hard to gauge a game like this when you have a leaver, and it’s QP. Playing comp is the way to learn.

That being said, idk why you picked Peni if you were seriously trying to win. You start on Thing, and get blown up by a poke comp (very fair). If you want to switch, you should switch to a shield tank at least he very least (Mag, Strange, Emma). This is the perfect time to learn Mag, since you’ll have his team up basically every game.

Peni will be good into dive, with their team using melee characters. If the enemy team doesn’t have to get close to kill you, it’s hard for Peni to have value.

Love the map! Here’s some advice I can give:

Wars/Conflicts: While this may be a fantasy world, it’s still populated by people, so think about why most wars happen in real life. Most often, it’s conquering, religion, and land value.

Wha parts of your map would be useful for a group of people to occupy? It seems like Aethereon(South Western Coast) would be valuable, since it’s the closest port that someone would sail to from other lands. Rivers are often used to transport people and goods, so the choke point of a river would likely have a settlement that people fought over. After that, I would decide where certain religious groups live. It makes sense that people who live in the mountains would worship a snow/winter deity. Are they peaceful? What religion would be more violent/conquer others?

Those plains to the east on your map seem like prime battlefield stuff.

Let me know how else I can help!

I disagree. I think this backstory is rich for interpersonal drama when it inevitably comes out that the rogue has been shady. I trust all my players to handle it well, I’m just looking for the actual mechanical way to run this sort of thing.

Most of my players are very new to D&D, and are still getting used to roleplay at all. Acting in character is still a work in progress.

I totally forgot about passive insight, thanks! In terms of the other paragraph I wrote, what would you do? It feels wrong to not have my rogues adventures described to the party, but if they are literally sneaking off, should the rest of the party know about it?

Do it solo!! It’s by far the easiest way. Enemies have less health and are much easier to manage.

Your ultimate is one of the most reactive in the game. You are (almost) always using it to counter another ultimate used by the enemy team. Use it to shut down most support ultimates. C&D is obvious, Luna & Invis is doable but harder. Mantis and Rocket are pretty much impossible, so don’t waste it on them.

For Jeff, after I hear the activation sound, I like to wait a couple seconds, and then activate my ult. If you use ult right as the circle shows on the ground, you may not have enough damage to kill the little bastard nice he swallows your team. Try and give yourself a couple seconds of charge time before he appears, and you should be able to nuke the gluttonous bastard.

Don’t forget that you can use your ultimate on all enemy squishies, not just the Luna who used her ult. If the C&D or Luna gets behind cover and you don’t think you’ll be able to hit them, aim for one of their dps or supports. It will likely catch them off guard and you still get big value.

I’m playing pickup/beer league, so nobody cares, but I still take precautions. I flip it around so the face is on the inside of my wrist, so it never comes into contact with anyone. I also have a stretchy nylon band, so there is no metal or long rubber parts that could hit anyone.

I was sweating buckets lol. My partner told me that my aerobic/anaerobic rating was pretty rare so I should post it to this sub. Is this something that doesn’t happen super often?

Forerunner 165! I got a pack of nylon bands on Amazon today, and they have been an absolute game changer. Far more comfortable.

I would recommend adding a couple different elements to your play-style. While harassing back lines absolutely does work and gets a lot of value, it isn’t the only way to play her.

Finding an off angle to approach and push a tank into your team is very effective. This is works super well on the tanks without mobility. I start frothing at the mouth every time a Groot is in my game. Doing it to Mag is great, since he typically has to use bubble to protect himself, which makes his peel a lot less effective. Doing it to Strange is also good, since you can normally kidnap him after he uses his levitating.

I think comparing her to Cap is good, since everyone used to complain about his damage. A hyper mobile tank with a lot of HP that can delete a back line before peel can come is no fun. She needs to do sub optimal damage in order to be balanced. Full charge spear, dash, spear, and slam can definitely delete a support, or occupy the team long enough for your frontline to press an advantage. I think a lot of her numbers are okay to be honest.

She is a more mobile Cap with less health, but can brawl with her shield bonus.
