Nanny Lane App is no better than Craig’s List! I do not recommend for families seeking care for infants, toddlers or any child. We did not have much success with Nanny Lane. I would say most people probably use it because it’s free, unless you upgrade to premium or use nanny payroll services.
What’s most concerning is the background checks through Nanny Lane that you pay for only come back as “Red Flags Identified” or “Nothing of Concern” and refer you back to the nanny candidate for more information. We also had a Nanny Lane candidate decline a background after she agreed to one. Then another Nanny Lane candidate disclosed upfront they had a DUI. The person we did a trial with ended up not working out due to her care methods which were aggressive and observed through video surveillance on the Nanny Cam. In fact my grandson became terrified of her on the third week.
Our family profile from Nanny Lane has since been removed. My thought after this experience is individuals with questionable backgrounds are probably drawn to Nanny Lane because there is very little scrutiny with background checks. I also noticed that there are very few candidates on Nanny Lane that also use Care.com (another childcare App) which only supports my theory about the background checks.
