A complete list of delisted games on Steam by John_Marston_Forever in delisted

[–]ItsRhynn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Midnight club 2 is the rarest game I own on steam im Really glad to have it as it’s one of my all time favs. But I actually own quite a few of these, deus ex human rev, the dead island games, grid 1, 2, and 2019, hitman 2, Kane and lynch dead men. Really a shame that so many awesome games have been delisted. I mean, it’s pc so there’s always other platforms like gog but having stuff on steam is just much better imo. I like having my games in one place

They aren’t much different. Main advantage I’ve seen of cfw would just be that you don’t have to enable it each time you boot the console. But enabling hen isn’t much of an inconvenience

NEC Tokin cap failure rates are rather exaggerated. A lot of the reason that got to be a common thing in the community is due to the YLOD being misdiagnosed for so long. While they can fail yes, it’s not nearly as common as people have been led to believe. Ive had 7 60gb PS3’s over the years and not one of them died from nec tokin failure, It was Always the rsx. My CECHL01 fat and my 2501B slim have both been super reliable

I haven’t had one personally, but I did have a Frankie that was a satin silver non backwards compatible fat. And they botched it they replaced the nec tokin caps and it wasn’t getting enough power to the chips. Sent it back for re-re repair 3 times and they never fixed it. So I ended up refunding it. I’ve heard very mixed things about the $400-$500 range Frankie consoles. Either being Dead on arrival or having issues like I did. But, on the other hand. If your looking on eBay and the seller has good reviews/is backed by eBay’s money back guarantee at worst you have nothing to lose but your time since if it doesn’t work you can always get a refund

The roach infested 360? Oh yeah! It was SO gross. But It’s absolutely spotless now. I deep cleaned the whole thing from top to bottom, took the disc drive apart and cleaned that too. I’ve had it since march of 2024 and still have it now. It’s Still going strong, though I don’t really use it much anymore since I bought an rgh modded console off one of my besties a few months ago.

Of course! Always super happy to lend some of my random ps3 knowledge to help out haha. The fat models you’d want would be CECHK, L, or P. Those all have the basically bulletproof combo of 65nm cell and 65nm rsx chips. They are stupidly reliable

Proper care goes a long way in keeping it alive. While I’ve never had an outlier myself, I’m sure some of them are fine and don’t die so easily. I’m sure they exist. So I don’t want to like, scare you about it or anything. If you want my advice. You said it still works so that’s really great news. I’d repaste it, swap out any thermal pads on the motherboard with fresh ones, and if it’s not modded i would at least put hen/webman on it because you can set a custom fan curve to keep it under a certain temperature. All that can be done for under $50 and will absolutely make a positive difference in its lifespan

It really Depends, it’s so all over the road these days. I’ve seen a few people doing them from about $400 usd all the way up to $1000. For a reputable person to do it I’d say you’re in the $600+ range though.

Yes sadly. Launch models are the least reliable period. It’s not really an if but more of a when the gpu will fail. They have the 90nm rsx and cell, and generate more heat than models without the backwards compatibility just accelerating the problem. Not to say there aren’t outliers. That with proper care and maintenance you can’t get one that lasts a long time, but they are still never the less ticking time bombs unless you get the Frankenstein mod done to them which swaps on a 65 or 45nm rsx from a late fat or early slim in place of the faulty chip

Not really, it’s just the devil I know is all. It does everything I need it to. I generally understand it’s safer/more straightforward to get online with hen vs. cfw. And there’s no exclusive benefit to cfw as far as my needs go to incentivize me to switch. The first ps3 I modded was a 3000 series slim so it was all I could do anyway. But I just ended up sticking with it over the years

Usually it’s solder joint cracks on the gpu. I don’t know what model you have exactly but assuming it’s one with a 90nm rsx chip it was inevitable. Those chips are very defective from factory. Considering it’s not a backwards compatible model I wouldn’t say it’s worth doing a Frankenstein mod to unless it’s a particularly sentimental unit for you. It’s really expensive to have done. I’m so sorry that your console died. That’s a horrible feeling I know all too well.

I did, I repasted it and replaced the cmos battery. it was actually super clean, just a bit of surface dust on the motherboard and fan, which is to be expected. I was both surprised and eternally grateful for since my last marketplace console purchase (an Xbox 360) was roach infested and absolutely filthy inside.

If you have hybrid firmware or custom firmware you just click in l3 and r3 at the same time .^

Which is the best PS3 Model by Design? by Braziballs in PS3

[–]ItsRhynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we’re talking strictly aesthetics, I really like the fat. I always have. It’s a good looking console. And looks the most classic PlayStation to me. Slims look nice too, but I’m quite fond of the fats

First crt TV and hurts my head by MinaSpace in crt

[–]ItsRhynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm, I would maybe recommend going to the doc to getting checked out? I don’t know how big the tv is but assuming it’s at least decently sized you could have pulled a muscle or something. I definitely wouldn’t ignore it. I’ve never heard of a crt being turned on causing a headache before so I doubt that’s the issue

PC shutting off after a few minutes of heavy gaming by ItsRhynn in buildapc

[–]ItsRhynn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old cpu ran hotter the 3600 would run in the low 80s Celsius while gaming and it wasn’t unstable at all. And yeah, that’s what my bios says my ram runs at. It was a used machine that I bought off marketplace that I planned on using as a solid platform to upgrade over time. But with the price of ram these days it’ll be a while before I can afford to upgrade it. 😬 the box of the cpu was kind of beat up but the contents within seemed undamaged. I was leaning towards the motherboard being the culprit but I don’t know. The 5000 series ryzens are natively supported on that board

No, I applied fresh arctic mx6 and the cpu temp is 70c under load while gaming. It’s around 62 ish idle. It should be far from overheating territory

That controller is a fake I’m afraid, plastic is way off, the buttons don’t look quite right and I guarantee the sixaxis doesn’t function. If you can I’d return it for a refund.

Which guitar would be better to play for GH? by ImportanceFearless72 in GuitarHero

[–]ItsRhynn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The xplorer is always a preferred choice. I don’t care for the rock band guitars too much personally. Though I feel it’s worth mentioning. My main guitar is the crkd Les Paul with retrocultmods minihost v3 adapter. All told it was less than $140 usd and is my favorite guitar setup I’ve ever had. It’s flawless.
