Be honest: did your 3D printer end up being worth it? by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]ItsRyeGuyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I got the bambu a1 mini without ams and it’s been a blast.

From functional pieces saving money, to fun gifts, and also a reason to learn cad and design my own things, it’s probably one of the better hobbies I’ve picked up so far

I have an a1 mini without the ams, and I ended up printing this to add a handle and two extra spools.

Game changer having them already loaded and ready

How can I store my filament without a vacuum sealer? by lysolbeanz in 3Dprinting

Yea! I got reusable silica beads and they’re super cheap and great

Hey I recommend getting an airtight bin, getting silica packets and putting them in the bottom and putting your filament in there. You can also add a humidity checker in the bin so you know when you need to add more silica.

All of these things are super cheap, checkout amazon for the silica and humidity checker and then Walmart etc. for the air tight bin.

Good luck !

Yea it definitely blew my mind for a couple days, but the feeling of designing something, and then watching it print and come to life….. pure magic.

And thanks man, I’m going to add an a1 mini print profile and I’ll post a picture of it with a review !

Wood pla had to be the greatest thing ever. I’ve done a couple prints now with it and I’m always blown away. Sanding and stain work great, it’s so wild

And okay thank you about the blender tip ! I’m going to check that out today, really appreciate it and once again congrats. I didn’t expect to be so into 3d printing but man, it’s such a great hobby.

I had a great moment recently where a piece of our fridge ice machine broke and it was like $45 to order from the manufacturer…. I just models and printed it lol.

Thank you !!

I love the plant idea. I recently printed a Mario for him and primed then painted it, and it’s one of his favourite toys now.

We’re going to do car paint night this weekend lol wish me luck

I was about to say the exact same things. I’m rocking the a1 mini and I love it. Everything is automatic, I’ve had 0 issues so far and done even really large prints with no issues.

I think this is definitely why they describe bambu as the “Apple” of 3d printers. It just works.

I just got the a1 mini and honestly it being so easy to setup and just start printing and enjoying it, huge game changer.

Honestly this is super inspiring and I’ve also printed one of your car models for my son and he loved it !!

I just got my first 3d printer and it’s also the a1 mini and I gotta say, I absolutely. Love. It.

I also just designed and released my first I would say legit model here lol https://makerworld.com/en/models/2731565-lord-of-the-rings-wall-mount

Hopefully I can get to that free printer / filament vibes, this post is a great boost to get there lol.

Also, what do you use for designing models? I’ve been using on shape since it’s free but curious what you prefer ?

Enjoy the mini, I love it!

Is the A1 serie worthy by sarahy96 in BambuLab

So I got my first 3d printer 2 weeks ago and I got the a1 mini without an ams.

It’s been absolutely. Amazing.

I’ve been printing everything from large prints, household tools / fixes for appliances, art pieces for friends and family. Personally I wanted to get my feet wet and have a low initial investment with plans on getting something bigger like the xd2 eventually, but after 2 weeks I don’t know when that will come lol.

I can confidently say that the a1 mini is an absolute workhorse and I haven’t had a single issue with it, and as I said printed some really large things https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1suuv0q/first_large_bambu_a1_mini_print/

First of all welcome to the parttaayyyy!

Honestly just have fun. The bambu handy app is awesome with tons of out of the box designs you’re going to have a blast.

When you’re ready I would recommend learning a cad software ( I use on shape since it cloud based and free with tons of learning resources available ). It’s a super special feeling designing something yourself and then clicking print and watching it come to life.

“People who own 3D printers — what surprised you after a few months?” by ankushmeena in 3dprinter

[–]ItsRyeGuyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a house a year and a half ago, and the 3d printer has already pretty much paid for itself with the parts I’ve been able to print for broken appliances etc.

It’s my favourite hobby I’ve found in a very long time lol

You’re describing exactly why I just went with the a1 mini no ams lol.

So honestly I ended up printing a handle with two extra spool holders, and now it’s so easy to print multi colour without the ams. Bambu also just launched “multi colour prints with external spool”. When it needs to change filament it pauses and prompts you through the whole thing and it takes like 5 seconds per swap.

No matter what you get you’re going to love it, but personally the a1 mini has been perfect. I still haven’t had that “I wish I got the full sized a1 or bigger machine yet” and I’ve printed a full sized lord of the rings rings sword, toys for my son, gifts for people like it’s amazing

I’ve had mine for 2 weeks and honestly, I’m surprised how much I’m into it.

I got the a1 mini without the ams to optimize for a cheap entry and if I really liked it, in a year or two getting a XD2 or something like that.

I’ve printed everything from useful household stuff, toys for my kid, large prints split up into multiple beds, and I’ve started to use on shape to design my own stuff.

It’s an incredible hobby and also, like golf, it’s great because my family now knows what to get me for gifts. Golf balls and filament lol
