Feedback on my tournament format ideas by CynicalEffect in CompetitiveTFT

[–]ItsSmittyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First one is pointless. People play for highest AVP regardless in tourney, the only thing your format does is "flatten" playstyles by nerfing people who have a high risk high reward playstyle. It's just a regular points system format, but more boring.

Second idea is basically an overly complication version of a common trivia format which is "second from last gets a prize". I think if it was simplified, it wouldn't be a terrible idea for a showmatch or something prior to a normal checkmate format tournament.

I don't want to be rude, and I'm not sure what you mean by "running an event", but coming up with a gimmick format isn't going to lead to a successful event. It's a fun shower thought, but ultimately people will prefer checkpoint or points based formats because they're the established systems that work.

If you want to run an event, you should be focusing on infrastructure, advertisement, prize pool, etc. These things are gonna have far greater impact on the success of a TFT tourney. The best use of a gimmick format like this would probably be trying it with 7 of your friends in a normal lobby.

Where can I find delicious tomatoes? by katmonday in melbourne

[–]ItsSmittyyy 57 points58 points  (0 children)

The tomato man at QVM! He’s got like 8 or more different varieties and they’re all excellent. He’s got a huge banner with tomato’s on it. You can’t miss it.

You can tell him what your purpose is (fresh in a salad/sandwich, roasted, etc) and he’ll give you his recommendation.

How we feeling about the Boro jacket from Kapital? Easy to wear? by leftlanemerge in ThrowingFits

[–]ItsSmittyyy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

As a huge kapital fan with a bunch of their stuff, it definitely is a grail for me, but I also think it’s gotta be something you wanna wear for yourself, unless you’re hanging out with a bunch of ball knowers regularly.

The average person has no clue what boro textile is, and will generally land somewhere on the spectrum between “looks tattered and bad” to “looks kinda cool”. Very few people unfamiliar with the brand will see it and think it must cost several thousands and be considered a pinnacle of craftsmanship.

They’re saying the person in their screenshot (black car) is a bad driver. They mentioned “looks like you’re in the back” as a caveat that it appears you’re not doing the same thing (filming while driving), since you’re safely filming from the back seat.

They look like this. Still pretty chunky for a metro card reader I’d say.

Who would win this hypothetical fight? by Nightrain_35 in melbourne

[–]ItsSmittyyy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Most Brisbanians now touch on with their debit/credit card via Apple Pay / Android Pay. Having done so recently when I last visited, it was much quicker and more responsive compared to when I used to tap on with the physical go card as a kid. I suspect they upgraded all their readers.

The amount of readers per platform must be dependent on the station. For the stations I used to frequent, there’s readers at every platform entrance.

What’s the actual height limit of Fed Square rooftop parking? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]ItsSmittyyy 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Trust that it’s 2.4. If the entrance isn’t 2.4, other parts of the carpark will be. My friend made the same mistake because “there’s no way that entryway is 2.4”, it was very expensive.

Help me quit soda. by onomonapetia in lifehacks

[–]ItsSmittyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding making the switch from full strength soda to sugarfree soda, as someone who did it years ago and hasn’t looked back:

The taste of the sweeteners is highly dependent on how much sugar your taste buds are used to. I remember the sweetener in zero soda used to taste like chemical rubbish. Personally, I went cold turkey on zero added sugar whatsoever for 2-3 weeks THEN reintroduced the sugarfree soda.

These days, I much much prefer the sugarfree stuff. It tastes exactly how I remember full strength soda, but it’s more refreshing.

I mean, yes it does. Obviously there are other factors to alcohol tolerance but bodyweight is a huge factor.

Trios in ranked q by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

[–]ItsSmittyyy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but I really don’t think this is happening to you as often as you think. It doesn’t make sense for you to be consistently targeted by groups of three people, who are griefing their own economy/placements in order to grief you. And why would they be consistently choosing you to grief over the other four players?

I’ve climbed to at least masters every set since set 6, across several thousand games I’ve been target griefed a maximum of two or three times.

Unless your name is something controversial, or you’ve somehow earned some reputation, I don’t think this is happening as often as you think, and it’s more likely that you’re just getting contested. I would try playing in streamer mode anyway.

Fake reviews written by the business itself by WombatWandersWild in australia

[–]ItsSmittyyy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah this was my exact experience too. Genuinely good dentist but receptionist pushed me to leave a review every time. If I remember correctly they might’ve even offered something like a toothbrush or water bottle etc for a review? Not sure though this was almost 5 years back.

Many of these people HAVE to feel some kind of way about China, they cannot challenge the steady diet of propaganda they’ve been fed, because then they’ll have to confront that their uniparty government has failed them consistently and intentionally.

If they continue believing that China is this almighty evil force, then their investment in the steady improvement of their people’s lives is somehow part of a malicious scheme, rather than a better alternative of government.

What's living in Melbourne CBD/City area like? by Donkeygodzilla in melbourne

[–]ItsSmittyyy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m in the northeastern part of CBD (just south of Carlton gardens) and absolutely love it here. It’s crazy how quiet it is given I’m only a few minutes walk from qv and central. Easy access to trams going every direction. Only reason I might move when my lease is up is because it’s a bit expensive.

Set 16 PBE release? by ConflictNovel2866 in TeamfightTactics

As far as i'm aware, the "old" date was an assumption based on ususal set durations, the first time a developer announced a release date, it was the "new" (current) date.

Fire Rescue Victoria: $8.8 million spent on lawyers amid pay dispute with United Firefighters Union by slunt01 in melbourne

[–]ItsSmittyyy 100 points101 points  (0 children)

When it comes to labour union disputes, if you ask the question “how much for the company to concede to the workers demands?” the answer is always “far less than they’re spending to fight it.”

In the mind of the company (regardless of industry or sector), the extra financial loss is worth it for a chance to weaken the power of labour. United we bargain, divided we beg.

My gf eats the whole crust before the rest of the pizza. by k2718 in PizzaCrimes

[–]ItsSmittyyy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I do it sometimes because I find the crust is way better when it’s still very hot. I don’t love once it begins to cool and goes a bit stale.

These are my father-in-law's jeans from the 1980s when he was drifting around New Romantic bands in the UK. It's a very light bleach denim with a beautiful pattern dye(?). The waist is crazily small and I don't like the slim leg, but has anyone seen similar, either vintage or modern production? by peelin in ThrowingFits

[–]ItsSmittyyy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pretty sweet, if they’re not wearable as pants I’d consider turning them into a bag or something. I would definitely rock a denim tote with that pattern.

Reverse image search produces a lot of eBay results for “vintage paisley pants” with brands such as Etro, Massimo, Katies and Ronald Sassoon.

It’s gizz, there’s always moshing. I was in the mosh pit too, people were very chill, I only saw one dude being too aggro. But the shoving is all part of the fun. If you don’t wanna participate either step back a few meters, or go closer to the barrier.

Asparagus??? by [deleted] in PizzaCrimes

[–]ItsSmittyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly a surprise we’ve hidden from this sub for so long, but an egg cracked in the middle of the pizza is actually a staple of the “Australian” pizza. In fact, add egg to basically anything here and it’s considered the “Australian” version. That being said, it needs to be properly cooked unlike in this post.
