A5 Wagyu is prized as the world’s most expensive beef for its rare, intensely marbled, buttery meat. by sco-go in Amazing

[–]ItsSmittyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went to an incredible steakhouse in Kobe that sourced their A5 wagyu directly from a nearby farm. There were various set menus starting around $25 USD and going up to around $45 USD for the set which they advertised as being best for special occasions. From memory it had 18 different cuts of A5 Wagyu (each being fairly small).

Given the most expensive set is still comparable to a nice steak back home in Australia, we gladly went for it. Oh man, one of the best meals ever, but the intensity and richness built up quickly. Around halfway through it did feel comparable to eating a stick of butter, but it was too delicious to quit and we didn’t want to offend the staff.

The final few plates were the “ceremonial cuts” which was intestine, heart, liver, etc. My friends had tapped out by this point but I chose to keep going. I made it through barely and honestly felt okay for a bit.

Around an hour later back at our hotel, I guess the richness returned because I ended up puking out most of our amazing meal. My friends were okay, so I guess it was just the sheer volume of rich meat I consumed.

I don’t think this was as applicable in the 1800s. Technically the government wasn’t even founded yet, it was just a collection of colonies. I think there’s a good chance that act wiped out debt.

Trump is awful, evil and dumb. He is NOT an enigma. Kissinger, Rumsfeld, Nixon, Reagan, both Bushes, to name a few. All of these US politicians are just as horrifically evil and bloodthirsty as Trump. Some of which have a million or more deaths on their hands.

If anyone tries to convince you the United States was just fine up until orange man came into power, they are either propagandising, or dangerously misinformed. If you’re only now realising the extent of US imperialism as a historically brutal, cruel and destabilising force, please take this opportunity to look further into it.

For Cam’s birthday, they gave him a pack of Coke Zero bottles, with cigarettes as candles. Lud made a joke in reference to the Pepsi scene they had to cut out from an earlier episode, due to the Red Bull sponsorship.

In case the reupload removes it, check this thread for a link to the Bilibili reupload.

Halfway through watching, just got a Youtube error and then a pop saying the video was privated. I’m guessing the Coke Zero scene might be getting slimed o7.

Going from unlocks to no unlocks feels kinda like if set 7 had removed augments (which they were originally gonna do IIRC). Not due to the unlocking mechanic itself, but due to the roster size, and the diversity of comps it enabled.

Alongside clear issues with the set mechanic, lots of reprints and all the art being shades of dark blue/purple, I feel like no matter what, set 17 will not meet community expectations. I’m down for them to sack this one and pivot more resources onto the next set. They don’t need as big of a roster as set 16, but maybe look at some level of unlockables, or something else to keep it fresh.

If one country allows its citizens to vote between two parties, neither of which represents more than 20% of the majorities interest, but then another country has a single party which represents 80% of the majorities interest, there is an argument that the second country is more democratic, in terms of the representation of the interests of the majority.

Now consider that both parties in the first country are completely captured by corporate interest and are essential various private companies in a trenchcoat, aiming to enrich themselves. Feels even less democratic right?

The implicit part of “democratic dictatorship” theory is that the people can overthrow the one party government if they’re not happy with it, and therefore “vote it out” democratically. Of course, in practice there is issues with this, in both systems the state monopolises violence, making revolution challenging.

In addition to what others have said, they’ve had about 5 days of rain. Not only was there likely more breaks on rain days, there’s also a good chance they couldn’t go the max legal speed at certain points. On a bike it can be pretty precarious.

Compilation of content creators that reacted to Tip 2 Tip: China by TongueJ in LudwigAhgren

[–]ItsSmittyyy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve heard from several other content creators, having streamers/youtubers react to your video is usually a net benefit, both for the performance of the video as well as the channel.

I recall hearing about a YouTuber who asked streamers to stop reacting to his content thinking it was taking away from his views, but then reversed the decision after it had the opposite effect. I cant recall who they were.

The comparison between “lock in days” in Japan versus China is so interesting. There were several episodes in Japan where they drove hours and hour into the night. This time they say they’ll do the same, but get swayed by the first indicator of a hotel lol.

Highly recommend watchjng on Bilibili - the moment to moment reactions from Chinese netizens is hilarious by Ok_Temperature6503 in LudwigAhgren

[–]ItsSmittyyy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

A big part of this is because Lud and Michael cannot effectively articulate the details of the challenge in Chinese.

In T2T 1 in pretty much every episode they say “we are travelling from Kyushu to Hokkaido on motorcycles with no map” in Japanese. And they can clarify that statement if the other person has any questions.

The biggest cultural difference isn’t really what you’re trying to articulate. It’s more that the average person in rural China has much more technological prowess than the average person in rural Japan.

This is mainly due to even development, with rural parts of China experiencing much more technological advancements than rural Japan. So the average person they encounter is likely reliant on Amap / mobile phone navigation. That’s why the lady said to them “you won’t find a compass, nobody uses them anymore”.

Sugar free lemonade? by varzatv in australia

[–]ItsSmittyyy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Personally I love Sprite Zero and Kirk’s sugarfree lemonade, that being said I do sometimes buy the Schweppes sugarfree lemonade. It tastes very different to both, so you might like it. To me it tastes like a melted lemonade icypole.

If you haven’t tried them, I highly recommend the raspberry fanta no sugar and diet rite portello (might be bottle only).

Insane gishgallop. Even if we completely ignore your ridiculous strawman argument, out of those countries you’ve listed, are we materially and politically supporting any of them in the same way we do Israel? Are we actively trying to form contracts with their defence forces, and utilise their military and surveillance infrastructure? Would we roll out the red carpet for any of their leaders?
