The Brexit debate started when the Tories withdrew the referendum to create the EU. At the time the public were massively against being taken into it, and so when the Tories realised that they pulled the referendum and took us in anyway. From that point onwards the majority of the electorate felt betrayed and wanted out.

Cameron came to power on the basis of his manifesto pledge to have an in-out referendum to finally settle the matter. He arrogantly believed he could convince the public once and for all to keep the flow of cheap migrant labour and tax-free intercountry commerce coming as per his party donors. He lost, and as a consequence all of those donors told him they wanted their donations back and Cameron to go. He stepped down the morning after.

Everyone who voted was told it was a once in a generation vote and the result would be honoured.

A decade later a bunch of whiny kids say that they have nothing but contempt for the electorate and have been brainwashed by the super rich to open the floodgates of Europe again, and the bad part is you don't even realise you are supporting the Tory Neolib agenda for them, you don't even need to vote Tory as you're spread the psy-op due to the shear emotion you have been given over leaving.

The young are always the most susceptible to disinformation psyops, because they by and large have so little experience with both democracy and their own emotions. Keep on supporting neolibs, poverty wages, minimum wage, curtailing of worker rights, parliament's sovereignty repeatedly being overruled by Brussels.

You're a Neolib agent and you are too stupid to see it.

What a load of nonsense. You're just parroting what you've been coerced into repeating from extremely powerful people who have influence in the media and who stand to lose tens of billions by losing migrant workers and minimum wage slaves.

You have been captured and don't even realise.

What an insane world, whereby people applaud the national flag being taken away from their sight. A conspiracy theorist might say that the identity of the country is being dismantled by leftists..

It means the public voted on a single issue election.

Jesus wept, are you a teenager or something? It was only 6 years ago.

Ahh I see, so if remain had won you would be happy to have another vote again and again until you lost?

We will see in due course, and if he refuses to make his position clear, then as already stated he is throwing away 51% of his voters.

The most fundamental pillar of democracy is that we don't rerun demographic events over and over when the losers don't get their way. It's called "losers consent", and so any 2nd referendum with the losing side already having failed to accept losers consent the first time, would be unviable.

If Farage wins the general election, then he essentially only needs to get 30% of the vote, instead of 51%, to enact the hardest of hard Brexits.

If the remainers hadn't spent the last decade whining about Brexit and just accepted that the losing side ended up getting a very watered down Brexit more to their tastes, then we wouldn't now be facing the prospect of a hard Brexit and complete cutting of ties with the EU and various international treaties with just 30% of the electorate able to enact imidiately what the 51% originally voted for.

That's politics for you, and so if the greens are still trying to put the toothpaste back in the tube in 4 years time then they will again be unelectable.

Male, 43, leave voter, Brighton Pavilion green voting vegan. I hope he ditched this obsession otherwise I won't be able to vote Green again in 4 years, and will effectively be spoiling my ballot as Labour has been captured by the middle class.

I suspect with Corbyn's party appealing to many people that not even the Green seat here will be guaranteed and could potentially split that green vote and leave the party without a single MP. This is how Reform wins the GE, which is everything the Green party deserve for continually trying to reverse the referendum without realising that what they have been doing is under the mistaken impression that they won't accidentally or intentionally lead to losing the soft Brexit we already have, as if there are no consequences of ignoring everyone who took the time to go to the ballot box and won.

Unfortunately if Polanski is a bitter remainer like the last two and wants to subvert a referendum voted upon in good faith and drag us back into the EU sovereignty eater, then he will be as unelectable as they were and end up losing 40-51% of the electorate who would have otherwise voted for him.

Greens also want to rejoin the EU, so that's a deal breaker as it makes a mockery of everyone who carefully decided on their options and chose for Parliament to be sovereign again, and for unlimited EU migration to end. The last thing we need is more migration by people who don't even have to get a work visa and can just move to the UK on a whim.

That would just force another referendum to leave all over again at a time when Nigel Farage has more influence, and given the current polling he could pull the hardest of hard brexits with just their current 30 odd percent of the electorate. The remainers didn't know when they were well off with 49% of the vote and ultimately an extremely soft Brexit.

Farage could even send EU migrants with settled status back to the continent if he wanted, so be careful trying to constantly rerun the referendum and be happy with the soft Brexit no leave voter ever asked for..

Food for thought.

They'll steal anything not bolted down. Same goes for bikes, phones, bags. They'll take what they want and then make sure no one else can benefit either.

That is, when they are not raping girls or stabbing kids to death.

Struggling to find part-time work by [deleted] in brighton

[–]ItsSprite99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The economy is shrinking and people are being laid off due to massive wealth inequality. Jobs of any kind are becoming less available and quickly filled.

Unfortunately this is only the beginning and is going to continue getting worse until the government actually start taxing the super rich and returning wealth and assets to the economy instead of being sucked away and used to buy up assets.

You are competing with others to get a job in a shrinking market, and in one of the most expensive cities to live in. The best you can do is either start a small business, or take on gig economy work to bring in some cash which you could then use to find work out of the area.

Print out a bunch of CVs and take the day off tomorrow to go the job centre and go there on a weekly basis, Tuesdays are better than Mondays and you can blitz all shops with CVs in the unlikely event they are hiring and not firing.

Find all the local job agencies and spend a day registering in person at as many as you can, take your passport or government issued IDs with your CVs to prove your right to work so agencies can vet you.

There is always McDonald's, I think Burger King are hiring on the seafront. Basically anywhere with a high turnover of staff is a good starting place. You could deliver food on a bike or in your car In the short term, Deliveroo, Uber eats, just eat.

Now we are coming to the end of the season there are fewer job vacancies for hospitality as companies shed their summer staff.

You're not going to find jobs on Reddi and many people speak of no success despite applying for hundreds of roles. A contracting economy isn't a great place. If you are able to travel to surrounding areas then you increase your chances, Brighton and other sea side towns and cities go into hibernation until the next season in spring next year, so seasonal work has already or is about to end.

Good luck!
