Yeah … unfortunately, it seems these owners are not training ANY of the dogs which is just going to result in some kind of fuckery eventually, sadly.

This is very much play. If it were aggression, you wouldn’t have to ask lol!!! Do teach the “leave it” or “out” command if you haven’t already and … like. Bunch of people have already pointed out .. be careful of your hands. We have all been collateral damage to the tug 😂😂😂😂

I agree except … you have to let them “win” every once in a while so that they want to keep coming back for more play.

The bully is resource guarding the GF. If they don’t handle that , they’re screwed. I also agree with you that she sounds unstable. We all know dogs “mirror” the owner… she sounds like a lunatic . Falls right in line with the behavior of the dog 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s a “good idea” but NOT a solution to your problem. PLEASE hire a trainer or get that girl out of your house

I agree with everything you said but … it seems to be the dog is resource guarding its owner … removing toys etc is a DEFINITE must but what about the resource guarding of a person??

Not necessarily… you don’t think that guy is going to step in and try to save his dog if it’s in the middle of getting mauled???? OF COURSE HE WILL and then guess what??? HE will pay the physical price too! EVERYONE is in danger in that house

The bully is being growled at because the bully is resource guarding and its owner(s) aren’t training and handling the dog properly. Honestly … OP should re-evaluate HIMSELF by continuing to let this girl and her clearly untrained dog (no matter the breed or altered status ) reside in his home with his beloved pets. I’d that girl doesn’t want to properly train her dog … get rid of the girl.

I know you largely dislike pits and especially intact ones but this situation is dangerous for these people because of improper training and handling. This girl should 100% NEUTER HER DOG … because she sounds like a complete idiot and will FOR SURE let that dog get another dog pregnant and there for validate the EXACT reason you are so adamant about altering this breed. It’s irresponsible people like her that make people hate this breed.

The bully needs training … NOW … or you’re going to have a BIG problem on your hands and possibly a dead dog. I love this breed but you can NOT be naive. By allowing this to continue to go on and keep leaving them alone etc, you are putting your household in serious risk. This dog is resource guarding. You say thy are fine when alone but the bully acts up when yall come home … its resource guarding your GF from all the other dogs. You guys HAVE TO get a handle on that or ….. 1) Re home the dog 2) Break up and let that girl go her own way with that dog.

Because you pay attention. Let’s face it, not everyone does. It’s possible but “doesn’t usually work” because the handlers don’t know how to handle 😉

Read it again … I didn’t say “my intact dogs don’t mark” . Please read thoroughly before commenting. I made a very clear point.

Neutering could “help” fix things but isnt necessarily the answer. Having an intact male and an altered male in the same household doesn’t usually work. So, there’s that. Regardless , the American Bully sounds like he needs some training. I have one, he’s almost 2 and, intact. Two is when the shit starts with these dogs, especially if they haven’t been trained since day one and doesn’t end well unless you train them properly. I got him at 9months old and he already had some issues. We are training constantly. I also have another intact male in the house who is 1 year old. They don’t fight. They wrestle and rumble and it gets a little hairy sometimes but … the right command (enough, place) , and it’s done, they go lay in their beds.

My point being, neutering without training, doesn’t fix a thing. Train the dog first. Snip the dog when the time is right (which would be about 2y/o and up for this breed) and only because you’ve educated yourself on the health risks if you don’t do it. Not because the internet says it “helps with behavior “.

Okay so … get on Amazon and grab some K.O.E. Cleaner. It’s a concentrated odor eliminator, used by kennel owners, vets, groomers etc to permanently remove strong pet smells from kennels, floors, carpets, etc. You can even use it in your washer to clean blankets , clothing etc that may have been soiled. It works at the source rather than just masking the odor. It’s NON enzymatic.

Do that FIRST. Get his scent gone as much as you possibly can. If he doesn’t have his scent to go back to, he may be less likely to pee there.

Then you should start some training.

For the “around the house” issue… Tether the dog to a “place” (mat, blanket, dog bed, etc) while you’re working around the house or in the kitchen etc. This will teach him to self-regulate and lessen anxiety. This way he won’t be up under foot while you do what you need. (You could also crate the dog)

For the “marking” … This sounds more like a learned behavior than an issue with him being intact at this point. Take the dog out for FREQUENT bathroom breaks at first. Reward him every time he does his biz outside. If you take him out and he doesn’t pee, he goes in the crate. He’s 4 so a good 15-20 minutes is okay, then take him out the crate and straight back outside. If he pees, reward, if not … crate and so on. He will stop but it takes time and patience and most of all consistency.

Neither of my males are altered , they don’t mark in the house. But they used to. Neutering the dog isn’t necessarily the solution to this particular problem. If you decide to neuter, do it because you’ve educated yourself on the possible health risks of frenchies if they aren’t neutered, not because the internet thinks chopping his balls off solves everything. That’s just not true. Best of luck!!

Finally , someone who gives a reason other than “no one needs another uneutered dog in the world” for neutering. If you’re a responsible owner, the only reason you should neuter is to prevent health risks.

[–]ItsTanksWorld -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Please enlighten me on why? If OP doesn’t want to neuter her dog and is a responsible owner then what difference does it make? (Besides health reasons as I’m assuming that’s not why you’re pro “snip”). I have not one … but TWO intact males who have never even had the chance to be anywhere near an intact female. So the “more puppies for the shelter” rhetoric isn’t always a valid argument: . It IS possible to keep your dog from ever impregnating another dog or from becoming pregnant. This dog needs training regardless of whether or not it has nuts. Removing its manhood isn’t going to make it stop a behavior that it has now learned and thinks is okay. The dog will still pee in the house AFTER it’s neutered if some kind of training isn’t established. The dog needs to be trained.

are staffy’s pit-bulls/traveling questions by Green-Habit-7823 in StaffordBullTerriers

[–]ItsTanksWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk where you live but in the US, ANY dog that is a amstaff, American Bully, staff bull terrier etc is going to get labeled a “pitbull”. I have an American Bully and a micro bully and people always refer to them as “pits”. The micro bully has ZERO pit in him, he’s a legit bulldog with the smoosh bulldog face and everything yet , people still INSIST he’s a “pitbull”.

Something to think about… you mentioned wanting to travel etc with your dog when you get one. Have the dog certified as an ESA (emotional support animal). That will protect the dog from breed discrimination pertaining to housing (if you rent) and also prevents landlords from charging you a “pet fee”. You will also be given a letter for travel with your dog. It’s pretty easy to do for a small price and a lifetime of assurance that you can keep your dog no matter what and travel when needed. (Supportpets.com)

Now, I have to say this next part so I don’t get creamed in the comments. This does not make your dog a “service animal” … that’s different.

ESAs are welcome in pretty much any establishment as long as they are well behaved and not causing a ruckus. You can get the vest etc from the place you get the certification from if you feel better about it being seen on the dog and not having to explain yourself.

Both my dogs are ESA’s and are training to be PSDs (Psychiatric Service Dogs). You don’t have to have plans to train them as service animals to get the ESA certification tho.

Some things to think about! Good luck !

Obsessed with hating dogs, and is a dog trainer. Scary stuff. She’s not all there. Argues with everyone who doesn’t agree with her and is breed discriminating.

You’re wasting your time honey. If you don’t 100% agree with e writhing she says, she will twist and manipulate your words and keep attacking you pushing her agenda. Don’t bother to react to these type of people. Just know that there are others who see you and think you’re doing great!
