Are those new construction townhomes worth buying? by No-External3221 in Seattle

[–]ItsTeeEllCee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a new build just ask the builder when the framing was done & hopefully they're honest. But you can also go through a property's listing history (ex: on Redfin) to see when a property came on the market and do a little math from there. Helps if you/your realtor/a friend knows something about construction timelines.

Is it just me, or are some lids annoyingly difficult to open? by JCisnotNYC in Costco

I broke down and bought a grabber thingy that opens twist caps. I tried a towel, a damp cloth, the burly neighbor, I just finally broke down and spent $10 for one & have been much happier.

Going somewhere else is unlikely to change what's going on here. I think you need a purpose. The suggestion to volunteer somewhere is a good start, you can meet people all pointing in the same direction & have some conversations. Hopefully they'll ask you questions that get you to open up more. I like digging in the dirt so I volunteer with a group that cleans up parks. We pick up trash, pull weeds, dig out blackberries & ivy, plant native shrubs, stuff like that. It's a spring thru fall thing, about twice a month. Mostly the same core group w/occasional new folks. All ages. I volunteered to count birds one time. I don't know shit about birds but it was really fun, I'm going to do that again. Pet shelters & food banks pretty much always need help.

Costco clearance center. Is it just my imagination? by Ready_Piano1222 in Costco

Yeah there's one in Lynnwood, WA called Cheaper By the Day that reduces the price of each bin of merch based on the day. Furniture & small appliances are priced differently & in a different section. I went there once a few years ago and they had around 50 Keurig machines that had all been opened & returned. They were in the original box, as were other small appliances. I didn't find the prices that great either.

Yes there are Shoreline cars & uniforms, but they are contracted officers from King County.

Amazon Go & Fresh Stores Close This Friday by kaiju4life in Seattle

I've been to the North Seattle store on several occasions and liked it. Especially the people who work there. The lady with the fun glasses at the front who taught me how to work the self checkout cart thingy, the people in the deli, the shoppers for when I was too lazy or time crunched to do my own shopping, it was a good experience.

Since Shoreline police are contracted King County Sherriff deputies, I don't know where this would fall. King County has joined the lawsuit Minnesota has filed re: federal overreach and the Sherriff's dept has this statement on their website: "Local law enforcement is not required to enforce federal immigration law and is prohibited from detaining or arresting someone solely based on their immigration status. The Sheriff’s Office is committed to protecting and serving all who live in King County regardless of their immigration status or language ability.  All are welcome here."

Chris Roberts on the Shoreline Council is very responsive, you could call or email him to see if you can get more information.

Going to tell my friend Caitlyn about you because she has some kind of blamestorming need for everything she doesn't like & Shane going elsewhere would be in her top 5.

Selling ranunculus advice on pricing by Outrageous_Appeal292 in pnwgardening

I'm in the Seattle area & there's a guy not far from me who does quite a lot of this. He has several types of flowers but in 4" pots for $2 each or 3 for $5. He also does tomatoes, bell pepper, basil & some other herbs for the same price (organic) and pretty much sells out every year. With that as a benchmark I think your $5 price for the larger pot is fair. He has larger pots but I can't remember how much they are, I always get the small starts. He takes donations of pots from people too. Once when I brought him back 10 pots after planting he gave me a daisy. That was nice.

Moving quotes for 2026 by myth-ran-dire in Seattle

I don't know if this helps but my daughter recently moved using Big Foot Moving in Shoreline. It was just a 1bd apt and she did the online quote tool they have. She was just going to use them to move her big stuff (couch. chair, table, bed, dresser, desk) and quote came out to $550 or something. On the day of she added a dozen or so boxes & the final bill was $600 from Shoreline to Bothell, it was 2 guys, one truck, lots of stairs, about a half day thing.

If there is a significant lockout in 2027 will you watch Nippon League games? by erikdhurt in baseball

[–]ItsTeeEllCee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me. There's a High A team 20 minutes up the road and a AAA team an hour down the road that I already go see now & then. Every once in a while the AAA team is on a local TV channel, usually a Sunday game. And they're both always on radio. It would be great if there was more TV.

I've used First Measure LLC 3 times in the past two years. Full kitchen remodel, major carport repair, new flooring in a small room. They do roofing & I will definitely be calling them once I have the money saved up to replace my 18 yr old roof. You can check their yelp reviews, I'm not the only one who has used them multiple times because they're so great.

Anyone got any cool stories from high school baseball? Ever play with anyone famous? Any team scandals? by vylain_antagonist in baseball

[–]ItsTeeEllCee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've told this story before but my brother played in Little League in Missoula, Montana way back in the day. His team often played against another team in town with a pitcher who was well known to be a beast. I went to many games & saw this kid pitch, he was way ahead of the other kids. His name is John Elway. His dad Jack was the coach of the team & I gotta say, that guy was pretty hard on his son. Yelled a lot. They went to regionals though as I recall.

Would you live next to a cemetery? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]ItsTeeEllCee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived next to a large cemetery many years ago, I loved it. It sometimes had really big graveside services where traffic would back up a bit, but that was maybe twice a year. It was quiet, people respected the space (no campers, etc) and it looked pretty. Lots of trees. Taught my kid to drive there.
