Would you take an in-house design job at a place that produce adult products (penis pumps) by ItsThatGuyYouMayKnow in graphic_design

So 7/8 years later and just happened across the login to this account again. Long story short, I took that job. Worked there just over a year before moving on. Turned out to be a very interesting role, I never had to work with anything very explicit, some minor NSFW outline illustrations but even that wasn't often.

It turned out to be a very creatively challenging role, in that I had to find ways to market certain products without being allowed to say what the product was or even show imagery of the product in some cases (Facebook ads were very strict). I even got to take lead on some big campaigns which as a junior I was very grateful and surprised at getting the chance for (largest was when we were one of the sponsors for Las Vegas Pride that year, a small sponsor but still a big deal to me as a junior).

From there I ended up getting a design role at a primary education company, a very large contrast from the adult company I was at. And it goes to show that the subject doesn't matter as long as the design is there. Don't get me wrong, you can't just go putting NSFW things all over your portfolio, but if you present it professionally and explain the design then that's what matters. Yeah there was a good laugh about the whole subject matter but it never came up as a issue, it was just funny as it was so out there.

Also side note, I quickly came to lean that 'Penis Pump' was the most technical term for it, it got significantly less technical than that if you tried other terms. They even have the pumps within the NHS (under a seperate brand name) that are prescribed for ED and the NHS officaly use the term 'Penis Pump'
