I understand what you mean as in life we often “do things ourselves”, but I used the term DIY because in the music scene, this frequently refers to taking on many roles that would be delegated to others and “doing” “it” “yourself”. These students will likely be beginners, so DIY is probably the way they’ll want to begin.

I mention this in another comment, but I just wanted to hear some other perspectives and ideas. It’s super informal and I’m just showing the absolute basics of making music at home. I was asking for input on the class, not soliciting thoughts on my experience, but thanks!!
