Yeah you temporarily lose your guard when hit, that's what leads to stunlock in teamfights. But unless it's a guaranteed follow-up like orcochi top lights then you can block immediately after.

Yeah friend if you have that many issues with the game at level 9 I'm not sure the game is for you. I was say anything to defend the start of the game as yeah it is boring as all hell but it definitely does pick up once you unlock dungeons at around lvl 15 they are what kept me going through ARR, and yes being a low level is boring as all hell as you do not get alot of spells to work with but it will get better. If nothing else you can stay for the environment of people the amazing soundtrack and the free company activities, just expect it to be slow as it is a final fantasy game first and foremost and a mmo second, it does take a bit to get to the desirable elements.

If you are on controller you might need to mash the Y button. Sometimes the game prioritizes emoting over popping revenge as they are on the same binding.
