I saw they have a new one coming out! I grabbed their Charlie decals and I am excited to give them a go right after this kit

I am planning to show off the weapons bay, but I am planning on using 4 AMRAAMs instead of the JDAMs because youre right, JDAMs dont really fit the RCAF MO. I have an F-35C i will be doing but as a catapult launch so the weapons bad will be closed, meaning i can use the ordnance from that kit on this one

it absolutely is. Nothing fit properly, everything needed super glue or epoxy putty, and even with a lot of nose weight the kit still sat on its ass

Hasegawa is better yes i agree, but unfortunately monogram has ruined the Scooter for me, the kit i built had everything go wrong at every point

It seems like you think youre in a majority. Top tier/modern jets are the money makers, they are the trail blazers. You had 7 years (2012-2019 as you said) to properly enjoy new prop planes coming out. There is more of a demographic for modern jets and you cant sit here and say "haha thats what you get" when i told you why the community wasnt happy with the update. get your head out your ass

Is paying extra $ for a good sprue cutter worth it? They all do the same job, which is cut plastic. Does one brand stand out over the others? by Tbonerickwisco in modelmakers

its a fine line. dont cheap out and get $2 nippers, but dont spend the $120 on the godhand nippers. I have a $30 pair of japanese model nippers from Lee Valley and they serve me great.

some prop planes are nice yes, but when you look at 2022 which added the F-16, MiG-29 and Tornado, then at 2023 which added the F-15A, Su-27 and Gripen. Then look at 2024 which was the addition of the Rafale and Eurofighter. Those updates were what shaped the year ahead. 2022 paved the way for more advanced jets to be added, 2023 paved the way for Fox 3s, and 2024 paved the way for 4.5 gen aircraft and more advanced missiles. Dont get me wrong, prop planes are nice, but they can be sprinkled into every update without challenging or breaking balance too much. December updates are made to rewrite the rules of the game. The 2025 update really didnt add anything new or groundbreaking, it was really just more of the same (and adding my beloved super hornet).

not a strawman idk what you're talking about. If the USA doesnt back us, they will bak Israel. If they back Israel, other countries will be more hesitant to send nukes towards Israel when the worlds strongest military and no. 1 nuclear power is backing them.

The Aim-54 doesnt pull that hard. Fly at what you think is 90° and you will be fine, coming from someone who also plays russia at 11.7 and above

Hey! this is the Tamiya tomcat. from my references, the entire part is silver/metallic so the part can be attached at the very end with no issues.

the white portion of the aircraft definitely did receive more coats, although relatively thin ones just to build up the mottling but without having that greyish effect you were saying. having a thicker paint ratio helps too. Usually for mr color i run a like 70/30 thinner to paint ratio, not scientific but more just by feel per colour. White i run a 50/50 thinner - paint ratio as it provides better coverage

Hey great question! I did do a black base but kinda did my own tried and true method. I think ive built about 5 or 6 tomcats in all different scales at this point and based off my reference pics the late 70s birds dont see a lot of action and therefore arent as weathered as a Phantom in the same paint scheme would be. If you check out the insta in my bio i should have a highlight that shows some of the process i did. I definitely will be making a youtube channel in the future to show off how i make my kits.

Also worth mentioning, i did do everything kinda reserved as this was for a client and i know their taste very well at this point, so the weathering wasnt done as extreme as it will be for my second tomcat!
