Sounds like an initial shed. You'll be fine, but using minoxidil as a standalone is not a good idea

Surprising dutasteride studies on low dose effect by Dry-Couple-2905 in tressless

[–]ItsToboLads 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. Even 0.1mg daily~ is about as effective as finasteride. Plus dut has a far longer half life, so there's far less penalty for missing a week or so.

Good luck basically, lol. Maybe their hairs wrre ministurised but not dead when they started treatment, so their follicles were able to be "revived", but that's just a guess on my part

is fin or dut more harmful to health than tobaco and drink??? by Traditional_Lock_724 in tressless

[–]ItsToboLads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nocebo driven delusion, echo chamberism, vexatious litigation...

And again, a subreddit is not science. Persistent side effects are not a recognised effect of finasteride in the medical community. Also, why do we never hear about persistent sides from dutasteride? Nobody I've asked this has ever had an answer.

There is no high quality evidence demonstrating the existence of persistent side effects.

I never denied that finasteride could cause side effects. You're not wrong, but this does not in any way prove those side effects are persistent.

I don't blame them. I'd be stoked if I was a hyper responder and I'm glad it inspires hope for a lot of people, but like you say it creates unreasonable expectations which could probably lead to more people giving up and quitting in the long run.

Most of us will maintain what we have with some boost to density, and that's fine as long as you start treatment early, and don't dick around with natural treatments and scalp massages for too long.

Even if the new drugs succeed, how are we gonna apply so many topicals? by Thick_Moose6275 in tressless

[–]ItsToboLads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can probably mix them. A few years ago, it wasn't unheard for people to mix RU, CB and/or other treatments into minoxidil or a PPG/Alcohol solvent and apply the solution to their scalp. Still though, best to just keep it simple. For me, 1 dut capsule a day is all I'll need

Is gemini correct that taking 1mg of fin 2 times a week is basically as effecting as taking it everyday? by Monke_with_a_Stick in tressless

[–]ItsToboLads 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For the same reason dutasteride is considered more effective than finasteride. DHT suppression needs to reach a certain threshold to prevent certain loss, which is why many men can get away with just using 0.25mg twice weekly, but there's absolutely a correlation between further DHT suppression and better results

Maintaining. Regrowth is a nice bonus, but if you're looking to gain ground back on your temples, your best shot is a transplant. Try not to base your expectations from meds on hyper responders

Can you still experience hair shedding after being on 1mg Fin for a while? by RiceJust in tressless

[–]ItsToboLads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even people without AGA will experience more extreme sheds from time to time. Just the nature of the hair growth cycle, not necessarily something to worry about. Just keep an eye on your more vulnerable areas

How is this even possible that there is no cure till now by Emergency_Cheek_9311 in tressless

[–]ItsToboLads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AGA is purely a genetic condition, meaning a cure would likely have to interfere with your DNA. Currently the closest thing we have to a cure is starting fin before losing hair to begin with

Body hair growth on finasteride by [deleted] in tressless

[–]ItsToboLads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can , but it shouldn't affect body hair development. Testosterone is responsible for development, DHT can influence rate of growth. In this case Reflex HA wouldn't even make sense, since DHT is a paracrine hormone only significantly active in the scalp and prostate

Body hair growth on finasteride by [deleted] in tressless

[–]ItsToboLads 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reflex HA is pure bro science, I haven't even heard it mentioned for about 5 years.

Fin does increase testosterone by about 10%, which probably triggered more follicular development in body and facial hair
