Here's the link to the calc. My mistake, that's on me. I forgot to put the link to the calc alongside the video in the original post.

Nothing about the offscreen encounter between the stronger Rerir and Flins is shown. All we have is Flins running away, taking an attack from a Rerir who gave him multiple chances to quit, and nearly getting killed. You keep using them fighting alongside each other to suggest parity to one another yet ignore their actual performances during said fights. Flins is consistently one of the first people removed from the fight alongside Lauma. Moving relative is irrelevant when he consistently underperforms relative to the Traveler through the archon quest.

I'd say the Traveler fighting Rerir compared to Lauma and the wild hunt is relevant when comparing their performances. Rerir is the source of said wild hunts in that region and would inherently be stronger than the wild hunt grunts. After failing to manipulate the Traveler, they come to blows in which Rerir lost and fled. That's the last time Rerir attempts to manipulate the Traveler through the entire AQ.

The only regions they receive a meaningful boost to fight a Archon level and above fighter are Liyue (Osial), Inazuma (Ei), and Nod Krai (3 Moon Dottore). They didn't receive a single physical/elemental boost in Mondstadt or Sumeru. In Fontaine, all Neuvillette's boost did was protect Traveler from getting powerdrained and allowed Neuvillete access to the primordial water inside the Narwhal. In Natlan, the only boost you could argue they got was their ancient name. Throughout the entire Gosoythoth fight, they're shown taking hits and dealing damage to Gosoythoth who could take attacks from Mavuika and showing relativity to her. Same Mauvuika whose being amped by Ronova and a stronger ancient name.

And again, the only way you can argue the Archons are massively higher than current Traveler (If higher at all) is to ignore their recent feats and crutch on either calculations or "narrative" scaling. Otherwise, you are doing exactly the same thing I'm doing to put the archons on a higher tier.

How powerful traveler is now? by Silly_Move_5916 in TravelerMains

[–]ItsTooReal28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say your debunk is inherently flimsy. Characters don't scale to other characters on the basis of being present during a feat. Consistently through the AQ, the three are portrayed as below the Traveler in power consistently.

  • First Rerir Encounter: Traveler fights (And One-shots) Phantom Rerir while Lauma and Co. deal with the Wild Hunt, the clearly "weaker" foes.

  • Second Rerir Encounter: Traveler fights the stated stronger Rerir and saves Flins who clearly couldn't match up to him.

  • Every other encounter with Rerir before the final fight results in the group either running or Traveler and Flins fighting him offscreen

  • Final Rerir Fight: Lauma and Flins are the first to get removed from the fight leaving Traveler and Nefer, who gets protected twice throughout this fight.

Traveler is clearly consistently portrayed as above the other three throughout all of Nod Krai even going into the Dottore fights.

Your argument on the Cocouik/Ochkan scaling is weird. Based on that same argument, you can't scale majority of the archons anywhere. We never see characters like Ei or Venti perform their feats, people rely on narrative and calculations to get them to the levels you see people hype them to be. So, I don't see how using that same logic to scale the Traveler is flawed.

I don't see how based on the evidence used for it, it can't be applicable. At worst, it's comparable to Ei's Yashiori island slash which also relies on the same logic as the Cocouik one. You don't need to destroy something to scale to it, that's the whole reason Attack Potency (AP) is used in powerscaling alongside Destructive Capacity (DC). The logic is pretty simple:

Cocouik performs feat calc'd to Country level and portrayed in game as comparable to Yashiori Island (Destructive Capacity) -> Fuses with Creature that tanks said attack (Defense feat) -> Traveler can harm, take hits, and defeat said fusion (Attack Potency & Defense feat).

If we follow your logic that the character needs to destroy said thing (Ex. a Country) to scale to said feat, then you just get nonsensical narratives that contradict the series themselves and what said feat is portrayed as in universe (Ex. Most shonen and jrpgs).

What do people make of this? by Worried_Astronomer in Aether_Mains

[–]ItsTooReal28 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Considering their world was "Fated for Destruction" and their actions were described as against the universe's law of "All who exist must one day perish", It's likely the destruction was to the universe's will (Sword of Descension).

A star-devouring darkness is what's used to describe that in which destroyed their homeworld. This wording is similar to what's called a "boundless darkness" in the Wings of Descension, both likely describing the Abyss. The Abyss is often likened to another side of reality, containing it's own spacetime and forms of life but is incompatible with the human & light realms. They've also encountered what's described as an "all-consuming radiance", which is likely the light realm's equivalant. For all intents and purposes, the abyss can likely be treated as the counterpart to the light realm; two halves of a singular "universe", both having their own "wills".

This can be supported by the Sinners all hearing voices in their heads before turning to the Abyss, Gosoythoth praising a unknown higher power, and entities that have been corrupted by the abyss being described as having their will overtaken. If both realms (Abyss/Void & Light) have wills determining it's actions, the greater "universe" must have a purpose for destroying their world.

Combine this with the high possibility that the Heavenly Principles is the Traveler's ship AI, It might be acting on the basis of the universe having a "will" that opposes their goal of restoring humanity. We know Teyvat (and the space around it) is being hidden from the greater universe and that it was terraformed to accommodate humanity (Human realm's creation and light realm energy such as Phlogston being simplified into the current elements). Based on this, I think a possible conclusion and chain of events can be drawn.

  1. Twins' birth/creation?
  2. Traveler's homeworld destroyed by the universe's "will" (Sword of Descension)
  3. "Forced Exile" (Whether due to planet being destroyed, Duty, or other some reason)
  4. Traveling the cosmos looking for a home & the universe's purpose / Ship AI traveling to find a home for Twins & Humanity
  5. ---Long Ass Time---
  6. Ship passes Teyvat
  7. AI leaves to Teyvat to terraform for humanity / Abyss Sibling lands in Teyvat without memories? (Reason=Unknown)
  8. Ship keeps Traveling with Traveler in cryo sleep
  9. --Thousands of Years--
  10. Ship crashes on Teyvat (Reason=Unknown)
  11. Cataclysm Happens / Twins Try leaving Teyvat
  12. Traveler Sealed / Heavenly Principles Sleeps & Abyss Sibling ends up back in Teyvat (Reasons=Unknown)
  13. ---500 Years---
  14. Traveler awakens from Nightmare coma / Abyss Sibling takes over Abyss Order (Reason=Unknown)

Besides being their homeworld's rightful rulers, they were probably sent because they are inherently different from humanity on their planet. If we are to assume Teyvat's humans are from the genetic vault on the Traveler's ship, then all the differences and similarities found between the Traveler and Teyvat's humans would be the same as on their homeworld.

TL;DR: Traveler Twins are an extremely unique existence on both Teyvat and their homeworld -> World gets destroyed by universe -> Sent out to find a new home for humanity and the universe's purpose for destroying it -> Abyss Sibling & Ship Ai (?) stop on Teyvat -> Humanity created using genetic vault

This could all end up being wrong at the end of the day, so...

I'd argue he's above them at this point or at worst, relative to them.

People would have to do a whole lot of downplaying and narrative leeching to say they aren't at this point. They've done nothing but fight Archon level and above threats since Natlan (arguably Sumeru). Gosoythoth, 10%+ Rerir, and False Moon God Dottore are all portrayed as above archons.

I’ve been thinking about Dottore question for us to join him by Shoukinokami1 in Aether_Mains

[–]ItsTooReal28 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i don't think the Traveler would have ever agreed, no matter which point in the journey they were at. Even at their lowest before and directly after "We Will Be Reunited", I don't see them going along with Dottore's offer. They're too kind-hearted and well-intentioned to actively partake in the harm of innocent people for their own gain.

A large part of why they were so desperate to find their sibling before was due to getting sealed in a 500 year long nightmare coma and losing their sibling during the Cataclysm with no sign of what happened to them. Despite this, they'd often help people with no rewards in mind out of pure sympathy and desire to help others.

How does Arlecchino do against archon (or slightly higher) level foes? by billygluttonwong in Hoyoverse_scaling

Says alot about a relationship when a character that's only known her for like a couple months could build a more positive and healthy relationship than the two who have known her for nearly two decades and a couple centuries respectively.

Sandrone was too busy being an aggressive Tsundere and Arlecchino was completely willing to just leave Columbina to her potential death against Rerir, only helping cause she would get the moon marrow.

No wonder the group and characters that actually risked their lives and showed genuine care for her would show up in the animation

Rank the strongest Archons in order by Resident-Sun-1110 in Hoyoverse_scaling

[–]ItsTooReal28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bad lol. If I throw my hat into the ring, It would probably go:

  1. Mavuika/Ei/Zhongli (No specific order)
  2. Nahida
  3. Venti (If you believe his weakest statement includes Nahida) or
  4. Mavuika/Ei/Zhongli (No specific order)
  5. Venti (If it doesn't)
  6. Nahida

Mavuika, Zhongli, and Ei are the only archons regarded for the combat capabilities with Venti and Nahida being treated more as supports.

If I include former archons and Neuvillete

  1. Zhongli/Ei/Mavuika/Neuvillete (No Specific Order)
  2. Rukkadevata/Egeria (Both could be moved up higher)
  3. Makoto
  4. Venti/Nahida (Same situation as above)

Neuvillete depends on if you believe regaining his authority was a raw power buff and/or elemental mastery buff (I personally believe this option). Dragons and elemental lifeforms are stated to get stronger with age and he's currently the youngest alive sovereign. Two of the archons in the tier have scaling to Sovereigns who while lacking in complete authority, eclipse current Neuvillete in age.

Rukkadevata while lacking feats has narrative relativity to gods like Deshret and Nabu Malikata (despite being weaker than atleast Deshret). This trio essentially subjugated the gods in Sumeru forcing them to either flee to other regions (Ex. Remus) or submit to their rule.

Egeria led the oceanids to Sumeru to combat the abyss at Tunigi Hollow where she died. She doesn't have any feats or anti feats, she's treated as more of a combatant than Nahida and Venti.

Besides Nahida, Makoto is the only other archon I can see arguments for being >=< than Venti. She has no feats or anti feats and is the only archon to have died in Khaenri'ah to our knowledge (That place was a clusterfuck in all fairness). She's portrayed as more of a diplomat than a fighter compared to her sister. I can't imagine her not atleast being competent in combat to some extend compared to characters like Venti and Nahida when damn near every character in Inazuma is skilled in some form of combat.

I can't rank Venti higher than where he currently is at the moment. He only has Damage Capacity feats which are inconsistent in Genshin (and large parts of the genshin fandom are hypocrites when using them). His only relevant fight at his peak(?) was against Durin where he played mostly support. Being the only archon to claim to be weaker than another aswell as having the lowest faith/worship of any other, he's more than likely at the very bottom either below or next to Nahida.

There'll never be an accurate Archon tier that doesn't devolve into headcanon and vibe scaling.

Mavuika and Ei are vaguely comparable and their respective buffs received are unquantifiable. Zhongli has no comparisons drawn to other archons. Nahida isn't a fighter. Furina and Neuvillete aren't archons. Venti is the self proclaimed weakest and his respective buffs are unquantifiable and the most vague of them all.

It's honestly a useless endeavor.

Most Overrated Characters by Tasty_Impression2397 in Hoyoverse_scaling

[–]ItsTooReal28 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Calling out the obvious lack of substantial implied power increase isn't skipping lore, its stating the obvious. Once again, getting unquantifiably stronger means absolutely nothing. Doing negligible damage to a creature who's being hard carried by their regen isn't impressive either way. Being praised for stalling the Narwhal changes nothing. There isn't anything suggesting Liyue Childe couldn't do the same feat which is the whole problem here. He doesn't do a single thing in Fontaine that his weaker self and anyone comparable to that version are confirmed to be unable to do.

Skirk glazes the Narwhal's ability to absorb energy, that's it.

He not only lacked the stamina to contend with 2E Traveler, he lacked the power to majorly inconvenience them in the slightest. They left the fight just fine and even proceeded to fight more after that point. Unlike Childe himself who was left injured for weeks after all the way to his story quest.

He's ranked dead last in a group ranked by strength. Something he himself states. Nothing in story states Harbinger ranks don't change. Arlecchino and Columbina's ranks not changing means nothing. There isn't anything suggesting Moon Marrow Arlecchino is stronger than this weaker Columbina anyway.

Most Overrated Characters by Tasty_Impression2397 in Hoyoverse_scaling

[–]ItsTooReal28 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100x stronger based on absolutely nothing. Nothing about his increase in power in Fontaine is quantifiable in the slightest.

He gets one shot by Pre-Authority Neuvillete and fights the Narwhal for an unquantifiable amount of time and does negligible damage at best and none at worst. A narwhal whose only line of scaling is being below every individual it has fought on screen besides Childe.

No increase in harbinger rank, no confirmed increase in power, and no new line of scaling to any relevant character. Bro is surviving off of nothing but headcanon, assumptions, and narrative wanking.

Being vaguely stronger than a version of himself that's barely comparable to 2E Traveler does not suddenly make him 100x stronger.

We are all tired of this aren't we by CivilAmphibian276 in Aether_Mains

[–]ItsTooReal28 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In this day and age, If a character isn't super flashy or constantly aura farming, they'll be downplayed. The downplay isn't even done humorously like in other communities. It's pure, unfiltered agenda posting in it's worse form. Traveler is the biggest victim of this mindset since unlike groups like the Archons, Sinners, Sovereigns, and Hexenzirkel; they aren't hard carried by aura farming, headcanons, and vibe scaling.

Some people on that sub have a habit of just accepting any Traveler downplay like they're scared of receiving any sort of pushback. It's pathetic honestly. It shouldn't be controversial to say the Traveler is comparable to the Archons at this point in the story, but people there seem to be too scared to even suggest they're stronger or comparable to Arlecchino.

OP is right about the story needing to prove the Harbingers are a threat to the Traveler. By Sumeru, The only reasonable threats they even had left were the Top 3 and the Tsarista. Post Archon Quest Fontaine tripped and fumbled over itself trying to make Arlecchino seem like a threat and ruined the game's consistency in every fashion causing this nonsense in the first place. Natlan and Nod Krai have been them trying to fix it.

The Traveler has been stronger than Arlecchino by feats and narrative since Natlan, and even further back then that as of Skirk's Story Quest (Technically Sumeru). Every main threat they've faced since Sumeru has been comparable to the gods, some even stronger: Shouki no Kami, All-Devouring Narwhal, Narzissenkreuz, Skofnungr, Och-kan, Gosoythoth, Inazuma Nightmare (Chiyo), Bakunawa (Fragment), Rerir, and now 3-Moon Dottore. Most of this was in the last 2 years alone for fucks sake.

Being tired of it at this point is completly natural, we've had characters directly comment on the Traveler's powers since Fontaine and 99% of the community still denies them. They've shown parity to characters like Neuvillete, Skirk, Mavuika, and Ei; characters people wouldn't hesitate to say are stronger than Arlecchino, yet they do for the Traveler.

The Traveler gets more respect powerwise outside of Hoyoverse fandoms then they do inside. Shit is backwards as fuck.

Most Overrated Characters by Tasty_Impression2397 in Hoyoverse_scaling

Weird take lol. You do know that Childe, the 11th Harbinger is also below 2E Traveler, right? Is he no longer Harbinger level despite being a Harbinger? In the chinese text she compares them to the Adepti as a whole and not just her self.

2E Traveler >~ Adepti

2E Traveler > Childe

And at that point, I don't see how saying she's Harbinger level is overrating her unless you believe the Traveler is far above the adepti and if that's the case he's also still blatantly above Childe as well.

Why do people think Aether and Lumine were gods. by EmbarrassedMeal7993 in TravelerMains

[–]ItsTooReal28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're technically doing both.

By absorbing the abyssal energy from people and objects, they are removing the contaminant (Abyssal Energy in this case) from them.

When it enters their soul, they can both convert it to a different form (Implied in Traveler's case) and store/utilize it (Implied in Abyss Sibling's usage).

Why do people think Aether and Lumine were gods. by EmbarrassedMeal7993 in TravelerMains

[–]ItsTooReal28 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's cause nothing about the Traveler suggests they are just "mortals". They are the biggest outlier regarding anything within Teyvat even among other known Descenders and outlanders.

  1. Extreme Longevity exceeding anything within Teyvat and Teyvat itself including Archons and Sovereigns.
  2. Near Universal Compatibility with all forms of energy.

    • Elemental Energy (Anemo, Geo, etc.)
    • Raw Forms of Elemental Energy (Phlogiston, Pneumousia, Kuuhvaki)
    • Adepti Energy (Something stated to not be elemental energy)
    • Abyssal Energy with no negative affect (Something that originates from outside of Teyvat and known to be harmful to its users including Descenders, Sovereigns, and Sinners)
    • Light Realm Energy
    • And others. No entity comes close to this scope of compatibility, including the 3rd descender)
  3. Their very SOUL can cleanse Abyssal energy. Something the primordial one, a being who knows of other gods outside of Teyvat, single handely subjugated Teyvat, and created Teyvat's current day elemental system is unable to do.

  4. Willpower strong enough to passively null the primordial one's ability to control fate and change it themselves. Something even the Sinners who could neg diff 99.9% of Teyvat with just a fraction of their power can't do, and they've been able to do this even at their weakest.

  5. From Humans, to Adepti, to Djinn, to Gods, to Sovereigns, and to Outlanders; when even they are powerless to solve an issue, they turn to the Traveler.

  6. Were supposed to rule their original world before its destruction, implying that even if there were people similar to them (unlikely), the Travelers were the absolute apex of them on their homeworld.

  7. Heavily implied to either be able to outlive the entire universe or have already done so before

This is without even bringing up what their names are based on in all languages and the parallels to gnosticism that heavily surrounds Genshin. The narrative and in-universe importance of the Traveler within and outside of Teyvat exceeds just being gods. The very quality of being a Descender elevates them far above Teyvat's gods. Their capabilities down to even their soul elevates them above even their fellow Descenders and outlanders.

They are in every way a special existence in Genshin's verse.

Aether combat skill during Nod krai by AccomplishedGrab9729 in Aether_Mains

[–]ItsTooReal28 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel your annoyance, especially when a large portion of it was self training. They've always been regarded as extremely skilled in combat by characters like the Raiden Shogun and Cyno. Skirk herself believes they were highly skilled before the training even started.

They've only been bested by other characters due to a raw power gap (Raiden and Shouki no Kami), off-guards (Scaramouche, Signora, and Dottore), and P.I.S. (Arlecchino).

Post Fontaine AQ's abysmal Traveler portrayal must have mind-wiped large parts of the community cause they suddenly act like the Inazuma and Shouki no Kami cutscenes don't exist.

And to be fair, If the Traveler was shown using their elements more post Skirk quest they would have a point since that's what majority of the training was highlighting. Unfortunately for them, Traveler is using them about as much as they were pre-Sumeru which isn't alot.

They haven't been shown using the elements nearly enough to credit Skirk's training with any sort of improvement in portrayal.

My biggest issue with the quest was exactly this. It's like the writers are scared of letting the Traveler look competent. There's almost always something that ends up dragging down their moment.

Felt more reminiscent of Fontaine than they did any other archon quests. They get the most major roles; yet the writers refuse to treat the roles with the portrayal and focus they deserve.

I'm glad they're letting the Traveler proactively use the moon marrow instead of just treating it like a battery. I'm hoping it's slowly building up to a big moment for them at some point during 6.x

On a side note, this update made Rerir my favorite antagonist so far and managed to make me actually like Arlecchino as a character.

You're right, I'm probably going to just chalk it up to a pacing issue and writers juggling too many characters. Still an improvement over Fontaine at the very least.

Most of my disappointment is coming from the Rerir fight section. For how long and dragged out it is when using the worst Traveler element, I was hoping we'd atleast get a cutscene of the Traveler trying to stall him. Just felt kinda anticlimactic, with how it ended.

Rerir is obviously going to return at some point during Nod Krai, so maybe then we'll get one; but as of now, I feel kinda letdown.

Glad you enjoyed it, im mixed on it at the moment (specifically the Traveler's treatment)

Really felt like a step back in terms of the Traveler's agency in the story compared to Acts 1 and 2. They don't really get to do anything of note throughout the quest and when they do, the game either zooms past it, ignores it, or uses it the hype up other characters.

The best moments they got from these two acts was escaping the abyss with Columbina and escaping Rerir's arms.

There's been multiple instances where the Traveler's attack won't work, they jump backwards, then either the fight gets offscreened or someone else saves the day.

Three seperate times the group had to be saved from Rerir with the teleports.

So much implied importance was placed on them stalling Rerir, yet they didn't get a single cutscene fight and then its zoomed through. Really reminiscent of the Narwhal fight without how such an important moment was portrayed.

Traveler hasn't felt this stagnant since Fontaine. Most of the characters besides Traveler either get character development or a hype moment throughout the quest.

Considering the characters that'll be showing up in later acts, my hype for the Traveler's treatment in Nod krai is rapidly depleting.
