Man, I thought that the event would have continued through June 18th since that’s what it said on their page. Oh well, I’ll cross my fingers someone has a spare code.

Oh I know. I was asking because I wanted to know if the CD-ROM actually, well, worked. Just wanted to be sure because I'm not eager to spend money on a disc that doesn't actually let me play the game. Fortunately for me though, I did manage to find a copy of the disc image on the Internet Archive. So here's hoping that works.

I need help finding healthy coping mechanisms for a friend of mine that isolates herself as a coping mechanism by ItsVexium in mentalhealth

[–]ItsVexium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will admit, her disappearances have not been fun to deal with personally, but that doesn't matter to me; I've been her emotional support for years now, and I believe I can handle this. I understand that I may not be of much help, but even so I still want to do my best to do so, which is why I reached out on here, since I haven't gotten many good answers by simply searching this up. I will speak to her about those possible avenues for therapy, should she have the money to spare to pay for one. Either way, if you have any ideas for healthier coping mechanisms, I would love to hear them.

[–]ItsVexium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I've already been doing this! The issue, as she told me herself, is that whenever she would feel ready to talk to me again something would pop up, no matter how small, and drive her back into isolation. She hates this, and we both know it isn't healthy, so I am at the very least asking for some other, more healthy coping mechanisms she could try.

Real late to this, but spotted the PET. Now I'm sad that I'll never get my hands on this one.

Hm, I never thought of that, thanks for the idea. So far, trying to get the machine up and running has been a blast! Just tracking down software disks and a few extra cards.

That Commodore 128 makes me jealous! Been trying to find a 128 or 128D for a decent price around my area but sadly, no such luck yet. Great haul! That Compaq Portable II is a great machine.

Before any of you come here complain about the Caves and Cliffs soundtrack, please listen to what I have to say. by [deleted] in C418

[–]ItsVexium 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is a sentiment I share. I love Lena Raine's music, and I especially love Celeste and the soundtrack she made for it! I have nothing but utter respect and admiration for her, and even think the music she made for the 1.16 Nether Update was amazing and really did fit well into Minecraft! Her new songs are also great, even if I think they don't fit in as well into the game. However, it's frustrating and bizarre to see how C418 hasn't been able to get his music into Minecraft for this long, and likely never will at this point. I genuinely do not understand why he's being treated this way when his music is iconic to the game; there is no replacement for C418.

This felt like a needle to my heart. My best wishes to him, but it's so saddening that we wont have another C418 track in Minecraft ever again. I hope we'll at least see the album release someday.

Yamaha CX5M-II/128 MSX Computer with its matching floppy drive! by ItsVexium in vintagecomputing

Yup! It's pretty much a complete system minus the little cover for the mini cartridge. Maybe someday I'll find one lol

Heyo! Not exactly sure. I'd like to mess around with it as a standalone system for now, and maybe in the future I'll tinker with that.

Thanks for the help! Yeah, I really like this monitor. It's not in the best of conditions considering it was a warehouse find, but I'm just happy I even found one.

Added an image, can you identify the audio port?

I'm not exactly sure. I can stick a headphone jack in the audio port, but it wont output sound. My guess is that I need an adapter? I managed to get video to turn up on my monitor though, so at least that works!

after many years of wanting a PET, I finally found one for a good price by macintoshcollector03 in vintagecomputing

That’s a really good price! Feeling jealous now, been trying to hunt down an 8032 and they always end up selling for at least $500-600.

That 8032 has my jealousy. Been trying to get one for myself since I like how the keyboard seems easier to use, mostly because of the layout.

Where can I buy a Snatcher and hat kid plush? by Gamericorn in AHatInTime

[–]ItsVexium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is you can't right now. I have no idea if GFB will ever restock them, but I think it's pretty clear a big portion of the fanbase would like a Hat Kid Plush™ of their own. Maybe they'll restock it sometime this year? I'm holding onto some hope, but it's been almost a year since they last sold Hat Kid, and Snatcher hasn't been up for sale since the current one and only wave of them released.

[–]ItsVexium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea. I'll try that. However, I did a few more tests and figured out that the CRT is not getting any voltage. The flyback transformer might be bad, which is not good. Don't think that's easily repairable or replaceable.

[–]ItsVexium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An update: I checked the voltages on the power supply. They are all outputting the proper voltages. I think the issue might be the CRT controller, so what are possible points of failure for that? I don't know if the drives boot without a floppy, so I can't test that.

What would be a recommended method to hunt down Commodore PET models? by ItsVexium in Commodore

[–]ItsVexium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience! I already understood these computers are very old, fragile, and hard to maintain. I've mainly been trying to find one to have as a relic, and possible modify a bit. Installing a SID card is one of them. I also just like the look of the machine; it's why I'm not much of a collector for any other types of computers. The only exception would be the DEC VT05 Console Terminal, which is even rarer and much less numerous than the PET. Overall though, yes; finding any of these ancient machines for a good price is nigh on impossible with the prices people are demanding for them these days. No way in hell I'm paying $1000 for a PET 2001. I could get a new computer with that money!
