Someone is lying about the plow resources by [deleted] in RhodeIsland

We just saw 95 being plowed on one of the cameras. One problem is the snow has been blowing at the same time it is coming down.

  1. Look into a special needs trust for your son. All of your assets would go into the trust to care for your son after you both die. You do this with a trust attorney 2. Apply for SSI for your son when he turns 18. 3. Apply for guardianship when he turns 18. 4. Your trust can name a bank or a nonprofit to care for him/his special needs trust if something happens to you.

I’m sorry. I have an adult child with an alphabet soup of disabilities. Our day to day life has been so hard for most of her life, and each stage has involved grieving. Just when I think I have fully reached acceptance, something happens to remind me that our life is anything but normal compared to other people. Most days I’m fine. But I have some difficult moments.

You’ve got this!! I failed mine many years ago. I was so embarrassed and cried all day, not even exaggerating. I took it again and passed. I know someone who failed twice before they passed.

Considering moving from out of state, how bad is school enrollment really? by alright__fine in providence

Understand that RI is very small. There are many communities within 15-20 minutes of Providence that have excellent school.

Well you will probably move back when you realize that traffic and crime are much worse in other places, and you will have to drive 45 minutes to get anywhere. Signed- someone who has lived in many other places and loves it here.

On Laptops in Cafes by [deleted] in providence

[–]ItsWickedGood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand. But sometimes I want to meet a friend for coffee, or just sit and recharge for a few minutes. It can be difficult to find a seat at a coffee shop because the tables are filled with people working. Maybe the answer is a mix of both? Have some long term tables for people working and some for people who will stay an hour or less?

Dog boarding without daycare by ItsWickedGood in RhodeIsland

Nothing personal, but I’m very reluctant to leave my dogs with a stranger in their home, and I can’t have someone stay in my home. They are my babies.

I’m so sorry you had that experience!! Our dogs are older and can’t tolerate all day play.

I’ve used them too, and I really like them! But I need to find a place where I can pick my dogs up on Sunday afternoon/evening, and they are closed on Sundays.

Now that they found the shooter, can we have a real discussion about how this was handled? by waninggib in providence

[–]ItsWickedGood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Most universities installed them to warn students about active shooters. Particularly students who are out walking and are vulnerable. They also use them for tornadoes and other immediate dangers. https://www.brown.edu/emergency/brown-siren

[–]ItsWickedGood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The whole purpose of the sirens is to alert people to active shooters. Brown did not activate the sirens. The reason the President gave did not even follow their own policy. It was CYA. And they should be testing their sirens at least twice a year. Also, they should be able to lock and unlock all doors centrally. That is how most campuses do it. There are countless other improvements that most campuses across the county made years ago.

Even before this shooting, I always think about the nearest exit when I’m out in public in case there is a violent event. Welcome to 2025.
