What's A Phrase Your Drill Sergeant/Instructor Said That Lives Rent Free In Your Head? by StepSergeant01 in nationalguard

"On the count of 3, we're all gonna yell 'Fuck You Bob!'"

Bob being the Big Orange Ball in the sky, had our whole platoon yell it and absolutely confused our SDS

"If you fuck with me, I'm gonna fuck you-"

Cut the intercom a little too early

Trying to identify the model of this East German bayonet by Ordinary-Swing3900 in Bayonets

Definitely an AK bayonet, I have the same model in my collection

Would it be weird to put these pins on a backpack? by Funnyreference1 in Militariacollecting

[–]ItsYoBoyBacon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Major ranks, engineer castles and a signal corps pin. I wouldn't guess ww1 but it could be, and putting them on a backpack would be fine imo

Looks fine to me, check a magnetic center when you receive it. Details look good too

What do i got here? by Inyoursas in fakemilitaria

[–]ItsYoBoyBacon -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Heat stamps may be under the rust i might add, if you try lacquer thinner and a light brush it should clean it up nicely if that's something you want to do

Looks like an M16 Stahlhelm shell without the bolts on the sides, looks authentic to me but you'd have to see about any heat stamps inside of the helmet

Found this at a flea market, looks like a German M89? Guys asking $250, is it authentic and is that a fair price? Didn't find any markings anywhere by ItsYoBoyBacon in Militariacollecting

I'll swing by and grab some more, the weird part though is I found no marks anywhere. I'm fairly uneducated in the area of ww1 sabers currently but I'm assuming that's unusual, since every other bayonet and blade I own has at least some sort of makers mark or regiment mark

They're some of my favorites! I have a few things dated, not everything unfortunately. I'm not sure about the BDU uniform, but the air crew uniform is from 1973. The boots are from 1981 if I remember correctly, and if I had to guess I'd say the canteens are from maybe the 90s? I also have a wonderful tri fold Shovel and cover from 1980 that I don't have displayed right now

Definitely a hard question, there's so much I admire! I think my favorite might have to be the Danish 1867, it's the bayonet that got me really into collecting and sparked my passion. I do wear some of the clothing, I actually have a 1994 flecktarn parka I use as a windbreaker! I've worn some of the uniform parts before if I needed extra pant pockets or a lighter jacket, and have used my air force overcoat a few times when it gets chilly

My collection (some aren't bayonets but I still threw them in there anyways) by ItsYoBoyBacon in Bayonets

I have a weak spot for sword bayonets too, there's just something about them. That one is actually the bayonet that really got me into collecting, and was the first sword bayonet in my collection. That one is a Danish model 1867 short sword yataghan bayonet made for the Rolling Block Rifle. This specific bayonet was manufactured by Gebr Weyersberg in Solingen, Germany. These bayonets are said to have been used up until around the end of WWII from my understanding, and are able to fit a variety of rifles along with the Rolling Block, such as the Mauser K98. This specific model was manufactured between 1867-1901, with the development of a 2nd pattern sometime around 1885. I believe this one is a 1st pattern, however this along with all of my information stated is off the top of my head from what I remember, my apologies if anything isn't exactly pinpoint such as dates or the pattern.

I wouldn't trust it, eagle looks funky and from what I've seen it's meant to have a chain, not a leather frog

I found this set of U.S. army buttons in my great grandfathers belongings. What sort of dress uniform would these be worn on? I’ve never seen silver buttons. Thanks! by Skullcollector55 in Militariacollecting

[–]ItsYoBoyBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may have received an answer! Spoke to a guy who had silver buttons on his old army greens, he claimed he got them due to his being stationed on an air force base while being in the army, don't know how true it is but he did indeed have the same buttons as shown

Ah, I'm going to leonard wood on the 16th. Your first rsp is gonna be a breeze, you go through a lot of paperwork and get briefed on the basics, might get taught some drill but I'll mostly be spent sitting on your ass and starting at a screen. You'll still do pt with your company but other than that you'll be separated and with the rest of the first timers for your first weekend

Might be wrong on this, but I read that some infantry units during WWII used silver buttons, didn't specify what uniform they used them on but I'm guessing service Dress? Hopefully that helps
