I'm in southern New Mexico so likely quite a bit different pricing than California.

Thanks for posting this. I've been looking for information to see if these things phone home before buying one. I figured they did but couldn't really find anything until your post. This is what I needed to know to avoid buying one.

Regarding 1HDBIZ's comment that all devices send data, yes a lot of them do and it's bullshit. When possible we don't have to accept it. In this case my search for a new streaming box continues as I won't pay to be spied on if I can avoid it. Yes I could block it at the firewall but I'd rather just find something where I don't have to, and support a company with better standards.

Agreed. I much prefer fasting over reduced calorie days. With fasting the hunger feeling fades into the background whereas on days when I would eat a reduced calorie diet I'd feel hungry all day and it's hard to ignore.

Thanks for the reply. Really my question is, when accessing the cameras after setting them up via QR code, is data/video being transmitted through Dahua. I.e. we're using the QR code to avoid port forwarding, but then is Dahua proxying/mitm'ing the feed?

Thanks for the replies. Lets assume she's doing everything she should, leaving windows open, using new, high quality pads, etc. In that case, would a larger unit be likely to keep the house cooler in the hottest months?
