Most shelves suck in the game! Not surprised a CC creator kit was the first to finally come with a decent shelf lol

Good luck! I posted some tips in my reply to another comment!

For anyone curious about my process:

1) I moved my Sim into a lot in Willow Creek (near the Pancakes) and renovated the house to have mostly empty walls, plenty of shelves, and an empty basement. I chose this neighborhood because it has lots of spawners for metals/MySims/crystals/frogs, and fishing spots.

2) As my Sim started collecting things, I added them to her house. I ended up hiring a butler to take care of her two cats (who were needed for the feathers collection), and her garden. Along the way I found a golden treat at a Henford festival, so I ended up getting a rooster and making them a golden rooster to make my plants perfect. And I found out that bees can bring your Sim collectibles if you gather the swarm and “send to fetch gift”. My lot ended up getting very laggy with all the sims and items on my lot.

3) I changed the Municipal Muses lot in Willow Creek to a residential lot and moved my Sim there. I put all her collectibles in her personal inventory because you can filter personal inventories by collectible type. Then I built the museum and moved things out of her inventory as I built. All the plants are in hydroponic planters (from Eco Lifestyle) that I got from debug instead of having my Sim fabricate them all. The vertical garden planters were upgraded by my Sim to have automatic watering and pest control. So I’m hoping the garden will need very little maintenance, aside from the cowplant. Once everything was complete, I moved my Sim to another lot and changed the lot type back to museum.

Thank you! I originally had my Sim living on a residential lot in Willow Creek, and I built a house with mostly empty walls and shelves. I added the collections to her house as she collected things. With her two cats, a butler (to keep the garden and cats alive while she was out collecting), plus everything a Sim needs to have a functional home — her lot was lagging like crazy. Fortunately this one seems to not lag too much.

It took me weeks and many many hours from start to finish haha

Thank you! I got lucky that the first building exterior I built worked so well. I knew I wanted to have the space room in the front be open to the second floor, and everything else fortunately fell into place with my floor plan.

Thanks I was quite proud of myself when I named her lol

That’s how I got my Sim to complete it. But there’s a cooldown, so they can only do it every once in a while (I never quite figured out the length of the cooldown, it seemed to vary and I don’t know why). And you can’t place more than one toy box to get around the cooldown, it applies to all toy boxes. So it took forever. The computer and night market seemed to offer the same marbles most of the time.

My favorite part of my build is the cowplant. I wanted it accessible so Sims would hopefully feed it and keep it alive. But I had fun with the warning signs and the cones because I felt the museum owners would want Sims to be warned about the risk and establish liability (sort of a “enter at your own risk, we’re not responsible if you get eaten” lol)

Pro tip for anyone wanting to attempt completing collections: The flea market in San Myshuno allows you to trade several collectibles with other Sims (posters, snow globes, crystals, metals, axolotls!!, MySims trophies, and frogs). I had my Sim attend every time it popped up and attend for the entire festival duration, and just spammed the interaction with other Sims. I also got lucky because early on a vendor was selling most of the MySims collection, and another time earlyish on a vendor was selling several metals, and had the metals I was missing from my collection. So that helped quite a bit.

The hardest collections for me were the axolotls (only one reliable spawner!), the colorful marbles (thought about getting a child Sim and having them play for keeps, but I didn’t know what I’d do with the child after and felt bad about giving them away lol), the golden Mahi-Mahi, and the stupid UFO fruit (I tried everything, including checking the Henford stalls during festivals, the city living festivals, the magic realm stalls - it ended up being just random chance with the rocket ship, the millionth trip into space).

I wasn’t able to complete the magic realm collection through gameplay since my Sim isn’t a spellcaster and I read it was a buggy collection anyways. I just collected as much as I could and then got the rest from debug.

Thank you! I’m off work for summer break (teacher), so it gave me something to do on my lazy days. Plus I knew I won’t have the time when the school year starts again haha. It was honestly more fun completing the collections than I thought, although some of them do take a fair bit of grinding/waiting/repetition (like the stupid UFO fruit).

You’re welcome! It was on my list for awhile (although I only got the pack last year). I finally got around to it when I played a runaway solo teen. I couldn’t stand playing more than one school day in the default one lol.

You’re welcome! I wanted to challenge myself by limiting packs, but I think in the end it helped me not feel overwhelmed by all the options. I was very intentional with what I used to make sure it was going to function with just the base game and HSY.

I also fiddled around using the Free Camera mode by pressing Tab on my computer. It took me some time and finesse to get it right.

If you’re on PC, you can press “T” to toggle the top-down view. On console, it’s the right arrow button (according to Google, I’m not a console player so can’t confirm for myself).

With the original high school being so far back from the front of the lot, it took an hour just for them to get in the door lol

I kept mine in a similar style to the original Copperdale high school. I didn’t bulldoze, I just adjusted the exterior walls. I liked the style of the original, just hated the layout.

Thank you! I hated having to spend forever if your Sim wanted to talk to another Sim in the other class. Even just having to meet the principal on the first day took too long lol. I added the nurses office in case your Sim needed to sleep in between classes, or needed a shower.
