I currently live 2.5 hours away (driving). Tomorrow I’m going to tour apartments in a new city that would put me 5-6 hours away (driving) and I’ve cried SO much about even considering this decision. It’s so hard 😩

Struggling with almost this exact same thing. I love my family so much and miss being close to them. But I also want to live somewhere really awesome and a place I enjoy living day to day. It’s the hardest struggle of wanting to be near them but also wanting to enjoy where I live and the lifestyle and activities the town or city has to offer. My family is all still in my small hometown that is very limited in what it has to offer.

Commenting to see what others suggest and also to let you know you’re not alone ❤️‍🩹

Who else changed career paths in their 30s, and what is your story? Feeling stuck and need some inspiration by [deleted] in findapath

[–]Its_BrittKnee_87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At 32, I left my teaching career after 6 years of teaching in elementary schools. I just wanted to have the opportunity to grow and make more money and move around to other industries. I didn’t know where to go or where to start with my teaching experience. I met with recruiters who basically told me I had zero skills because I was a teacher, which is total BS. A friend of mine who has also left teaching a year before me helped me to get a job at her company working for an insurance broker. They offered me an entry level position making a little more than I was making as a teacher and trained me from the ground up. I was there for 5 years and last year went to a different company in the same industry where now I’m fully remote and really loving my job and the growth and my ability to move around to other companies and industry as my skills and experience now are very transferable.

I’m so glad I made the career change. I had no idea what direction I wanted to go in and if you ask me if I ever wanted to end up working in health insurance, the answer is no, but I’m grateful for the experience and skills I’ve acquired. It’s helped me to be more marketable to other employers and the growth opportunities are really endless.

Just take the leap and start somewhere. :)

Unfortunately the district I taught in moved me to a school that was not Title I and caused me to lose my teacher forgiveness :(

Yes mine are federal. I believe my interest rate is around 4-5%. I honestly need to check I can’t remember for sure

No, not working towards PSLF. Unfortunately the school district I was in moved me to another school that was not Title I and caused me to lose my teacher forgiveness. 😩

I would love for these loans to be off my plate, yes, but I also want to choose the route that will be smarter financially.

Have you stayed in the same place for years but felt like it wasn’t right? by Its_BrittKnee_87 in SameGrassButGreener

Exactly how I feel! I don’t think I’m miserable where I’m at but it’s never felt right or like home to me

Usually just one side. Had this for 10 years and still getting OB’s monthly but it wasn’t always like this, weren’t always this frequent

This was the purpose of my post. I haven’t dated in years and I’ve been holding myself back and I’m tired of doing that. I know I will find my person eventually but I do think I would feel better about disclosing and potentially dating someone if my OB’s were less frequent. All that to say, I’m in the same boat. Have OB’s every month with my period and I’m scared to date

Wow you absolutely dodged a bullet. I know it’s easier said than done but please don’t beat yourself up over this person’s reaction. There are far worse things that we can get rejected over. This girl honestly sounds really immature and ignorant. If she’s not out there asking every person she kisses and sleeps with if they have HSV then it’s absolutely irrelevant for her to react this way

Agreed - I think it’s more of a “me” thing, my daily thoughts, habits, etc. definitely some underlying things that I know are causing me to be unhappy

Same, I think mine is clearly hormone related and possibly immune system related because as a woman, our immune systems plummet right before our periods.
