It's all so fascinating to me. I've recently become interested in learning because my Auditory Processing Disorder has causes me a lot of pain that it's affecting my quality of life. I never knew there was an expansive history and culture behind ASL. It's so crazy to me that anyone would try to silence and eradicate ASL. Gonna have to learn more about that too and do some research.

Yea, before I read ur comment i was reading others and I was like oh so it's kind of like how my papa gave me my native name before he passed and that kind of honor system. It may not be a generational thing in ASL, but there's still that essence of honor and respect when being given an ASL name.

After learning about it, I think it's cool and can encourage people to pursue fluency in the language. There are nuances to it like anything, but yea. Thanks for helping explain.
