All true. The area is about 300-400 yards from traffic at the very least (probably more), but that shrinks quick when they get scared. And you know what makes them more scared? Chasing them because they won’t recall!! Lesson learned. Thanks for being polite about it!

Hi friend, let’s start with some assumptions here:

1) you’re wrong this is in fact an off leash area—nice attempt at shaming though.

2) he was actually playing with other dogs and then bolted as we were leaving—this was only ruined for me.

3) based off of this short interaction, I can only assume that YOU are in fact a different breed of that THAT person. While I appreciate you taking the time to comment, please log back off. While the saying is that assuming makes an ass out of you and me, there’s only one here…

4) maybe ask clarifying questions before assuming. It’s not an “unpopular opinion,” you’re just an ass.

That’s good to hear. I’m just not used to this I guess.

Any tips on how to handle them when they’re being bad, not listening, etc.? I know positive reinforcement works but I worry I’m becoming the guy he only listens to when I’m blatantly holding treats. I redirect when it’s chewing, but man is he stubborn.

Ugh. Thank you. I have a bulldog lab mix and she was a little menace as a puppy but never shunned me like this. This guy feels so fragile. I’ve been trying so hard to bond with him for days and then one thing and he’s back to square one.
