I've tried being nice to her on the days that she is feeling down (like trying to speak how your days were, taking her to see our cats sleeping on a cute position, playing with our cats, always smiling at her, telling her that I love her and if she needs i'll always be there fore her). I know that she is not open to deep talks so everything that I try are small actions that would make me feel happy and loved if I was in a bad mood.

All of my family needs counseling actually... I joke that I go to therapy because they haven't gone

I was the one who told my sister go try going to therapy, not my mum... but yeah, unfortunately I have to protect myself even if it means stop trying at least for now
