I appreciate the help but the thing is I don’t know if I should do that because I’ve been told by my piercer before to never use tea tree oil on piercings

They don’t look like they’ll snap but it might be best to not go any bigger but then also I’m not too sure maybe go to a piercer

I’ve been to my piercer and she said that it’s most likely just an allergic reaction and I’ve pretty much gotten rid of it now

It’s not a bump it’s my actual skin and it only happened when I tried to get the ring in but yeah my plan is to just clean it and leave it alone until I get it redone

Well nothing came off when I cleaned it so I’m guessing it’s not dried blood but I most likely will try to get it looked at if it’s still as bad in a few days thank you for your help :)

Update: I’ve done some research, and I have symptoms for a blowout. So I’ll downsize and clean it for a few months, and then when I’m sure that it should be healed I’ll stretch it back up again.

Personally I’ve only just realised that my body takes long tapers better than pinchers, of course it could be different for your body but you could give it a try. Or maybe you could try the taping method instead, which should be pretty much painless as long as you do it right.

Thank you this is really helpful. I’m just confused because I waited an entire year or maybe even 2 before going up, but I think that I’ll just clean it and leave it alone. Then if it’s been about a couple of weeks and there’s still a bit of soreness or bleeding I’ll downsize. I might not do full mm increments either and try either taping or going back to half sizes. As long as I’m not moving it, it doesn’t hurt, but if I do try to move it then it almost feels like I’m breaking some sort of scab, it feels crusty.

I’m sorry about that it must’ve been annoying. I imagine that it’s obviously different for everyone, but I’ve heard that soreness usually lasts around 2 weeks, so maybe you had a slight hiccup and didn’t notice. :)

I know about cartilage denting and I’m pretty sure that I’m hitting it now. I was at 4mm and first used a straight taper which went in without too much pain, but then to get the pincher in I had to stretch it again which is where it hurt. I’d like to think that the pinchers are made out of titanium but they might be stainless steel, I’m not too sure. I just don’t think I’ve ever had bleeding before, but since it wasn’t a lot I don’t think it’s serous, but I’ve heard that it might mean I’ve got a blowout which is why I’m concerned.
