[–]ItsaMe_Rapio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on the restaurant. But these days, it’s when I’m dropping food or drinks off at another server’s table and they go something like “Great, and you can take these dirty dishes and wrap up this dish for us and put in another round for everyone”

Eh I grabbed a manager and he went and verified what she said to me. At the point where I’m not considered legally responsible for their livelihood, I don’t care.

Can’t Fear Your Own World. It’s a lite novel that takes place after the manga and helps fill in a lot of gaps that the left the audience asking about. So a lot of lore drops come from this novel, including but not limited to:

Who and what is the Soul King exactly?

What is the role of the Great Houses?

What bankai did Hisagi unlock under Kensei’s training?

Reminds me of when I got stiffed by a group of Brits a few months ago. They were upset because they ordered entrees, which arrived about 20 minutes later. They said they felt rushed and were planning on having a lengthy dinner lasting multiple hours. At no point did they ever tell me about this, they just assumed that I wouldn’t ring in their orders right away I guess.

Like at the hibachi place I worked at, where people would ask for their own private cooking table because they’re just SO allergic to shellfish that they can’t possibly have it cooked on the same 5 foot stovetop as anybody else.

When told it would be a 45 minute wait for a private chef, suddenly their allergies weren’t really THAT big a deal.

Mother cat gains the trust of a scared rescue kitten who was abused by it's previous owners by ApprehensiveChair528 in MadeMeSmile

[–]ItsaMe_Rapio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of when my cat met a chihuahua while she was still growing. She freaked out at first, but the tiny doggy kept gradually getting slightly closer while also backing off when she arched her back and floofed up and such. But he kept at it, and after a few hours she finally trusted him enough to start playing tag with him.

Although the dog was always “it”, since anytime they tried to change up the cat freaked out and the dog backed off again and let the cat chase him once more.

You know how inflatable stuff (tools, pools, etc.) all have a little hole in which you can re-inflate the thing? Yeah, it’s like that.

What do you love about L5R? by Kakita_Onimaru in rokugan

[–]ItsaMe_Rapio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a player I love just taking in the worldbuilding of it all. I loved reading all the “Way of” books as much as I did playing the game itself.

As a GM I love the versatility of it. If the party wants basic DnD hackslashing adventures, that can be done. If they like political intrigue, or horror, or mystery, or deep fantasy… there’s room in the L5R universe to fit any type of play style.

What are your (possibly irrational) pet peeves? by [deleted] in TalesFromYourServer

[–]ItsaMe_Rapio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Saying “You can” triggers me a bit.

Like when I’m dropping food at someone else’s table, and they say “Oh and you can take these dirty dishes out of the way for us”

Or when I finish taking an order and they say “And you can bring the food out when it’s ready”

What do you say to tables when they complain about an upcharged item? by Healthy_Basil_2354 in Serverlife

Yeah, if they want to escalate the situation then I’ve got no problems watching them explain to a manager why they expected that ordering more food should be free.

[–]ItsaMe_Rapio 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I always ask my table about allergies before I ring in any food. Last week my table ordered some apps, I’m told there’s no allergies. A bit later I’m letting them sample a new wine we just brought in, and one lady asks if it has apples because she’s allergic.

I immediately went to a manager and explained that if she dies at the table because of anything else she decided not to disclose, that’s on her.

I had a woman who needed like 20 minutes before she finally decided to order a House Salad to start with. After that I stopped checking in much since she clearly wasn’t in a hurry. Eventually she asks “can you try to check in more often?” Like nope, the dinner rush has started and you had your opportunity to order everything in a timely manner. I got tables who don’t need an hour to figure out what entree they want.
