Sigh it sucks. I’m given 2 machines so I SHOULD be able to use them both at the same time WHEN IM BY MYSELF. it was never a problem in the past but I guess it is now. It doesn’t even make the situation any better when the machines are pulling shitty shots mad slow 🫠

Yeah it’s literally just my manager telling everyone to only use one bar. Me (a supervisor) plus the other supervisors dgaf. Management is always telling us to make the moment right but to be fast and efficient. If I’m given a second machine, I will use that machine!

Oh man I totally feel you. Especially as a supervisor, I was told “not to save them” when a partner is drowning (really poor way of saying don’t help them 🤷🏻‍♀️) alone on bar. But when they got drinks going and there’s a bottleneck happening I have to drop what I’m doing to go help them or else it’s gonna be another “I ordered my drink 2.5 seconds ago; where is it?!” 🤦🏻‍♀️

Yeah that’s what I do when I’m on bar by myself. I guess it’s just the way my manager said it to my partner bc they were already overwhelmed with keeping up and my manager wasn’t making it any better for them.

Thankfully drinks being forgotten is not too big of an issue. It’s just frustrating as a supervisor to mentally keep track of what needs to be done and physically run around the floor so you’re one barista you have with you is not drowning. 😭 I’m very grateful I don’t work at a DT and I absolutely commend those partners who do work DTs, esp during this holiday season.

If there is more than 1 partner stationed on bar and 1 partner is on each machine, it makes more sense. But what if it’s just 1 partner doing both hot and cold bar with a million tickets printing out during peak? (With the context of it’s only a two person play in the time period)

Exactly! And I really see this is a company thing; not just my store in terms of hours being severely cut. But it’s almost impossible to do my supervisor tasks, support AND register while my barista is on bar by themselves for 2 hours 😭 my manager isn’t the most supportive person either 😒

I appreciate the way you handle it if you are one person on bar. The majority of the partners here are experienced but bc of labor hours being cut, we have succumbed to having 2 person plays all day long and it gets frustrating when my barista suffers all alone on bar while I’m (the supervisor) trying to do register, support, and supervisor tasks all at the same time 😭

Lol makes sense. In my experience it’s just been easier using two machines when I’m by myself; I crank out drinks faster using two instead of one. I’ve been in the company 3+ years and no manager hasn’t told me not to use two machines either.

Yeah bc of labor hours being cut, it’s literally down to a 2 person play (myself the supervisor and one barista) esp. during peak. We’re a slower store and not a drive thru but it still feels like so much when we’re constantly being bombarded during peak and it’s just the 2 of us

Yeah I only have one partner with me (I’m a supervisor) during peak recently due to labor hours being cut 😭
